Tiny DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - hand hold

DS 14weeks has had a bit of a cold the last few days but this morning really deteriorated. I took him to the GP who said it was just a cold and sent me away. Throughout the day he got worse, fighting for breath, not feeding at all etc so I insisted the GP see him again this afternoon. One look at him and we were sent straight to hospital. DS is now on oxygen with a feeding tube and I’m in bits seeing my tiny baby so helpless. I’m trying to pump but I’m so exhausted and hungry I’m not getting much. DP not allowed to stay due to bloody fucking Covid even though we’re in a side room. Not sure why I’m posting other than to just get it out there.

Sending love and good wishes to you and Henry OP Thanks

Soontobe60 · 10/09/2021 18:52

Big hugs to you all.

Cleverpolly3 · 10/09/2021 18:53

Thank you for finding time to update us all and really pleased to read that he’s stable
Understandably right now you’re not thinking about it yourself but try and eat a little bit and drink plenty of fluid. You need to keep strong and look after yourself too

All the best to your little baby and will keep you in my thoughts x

Delighted to hear such good news I have been thinking of you and Henry all day even DH has asked after you both Grin. Wishing you strength to get through the next few days and to Henry for his continued health.

Bridie20 · 10/09/2021 19:16

Oh my gosh I can’t even imagine how heart wrenching this has been for you. Just sending loads of love, praying for your little boy and also hoping you’ve had time to eat & rest too. Xxxxx

Clymene · 10/09/2021 19:29

Thank you so much for the update. KOKO Henry! He and you are doing brilliantly.

But please do take good care of yourself Floopy. Caring for a sick baby strips everything from you xx

HappyWinter · 10/09/2021 19:50

I'm so pleased to see your update, I hope Henry recovers quickly. It's hard having a baby in NICU, it is very hard emotionally, make sure you look after yourself too x

Whybirdwhy · 10/09/2021 19:50

Are you getting a chance to look after you? As hard as it is when I was in exactly the same position a nurse said to me “don’t forget while he is here it’s our job to look after you both. When you get home he will still need looking after so make the most of us and get some rest”

^ great advice.
OP this must be really hard, well done for hanging on in there. I hope things improve quickly and you can all get some rest.

pookypup · 10/09/2021 20:00

Thank you @Floopyandtired for coming back to update us amidst this awful time. My DD is 14 weeks too, and I can’t imagine how hard it must be for you.

I’ve been thinking of you and Henry all day. Praying for a good recovery for him and strength for you and your family.

HauteGirlSummer · 10/09/2021 20:02

Thinking about you OP. I have a 4 weeks old baby and can imagine how stressful this must be.
Glad to know little Henry is in recovery. I pray he is back to feeling like himself again in no time. At 14 weeks old he's only a wee little boy, I want him to be okay so badly 💐 Come on Henry! 🙏🏽

Hope you get some rest and all the best to you and your partner x

Tonkerbea · 10/09/2021 20:06

Lots of people willing your H a speedy recovery, me included x.

Wishing for a speedy recovery for little Henry. Take care opFlowers

DeepaBeesKit · 10/09/2021 21:00

Hope Henry is ok OP.

When my DC was in we were told day 5 or so is often the worst. It was. It was her 2nd day on the ventilator, 3rd day wasnt much better then she started improving. For us it was a week on ventilator, then a couple of days of cpap, then a couple of days oxygen. Its worth talking to the doctors to understand the medication he is on. They use morphine to sedate and if they are on it longer than 5 days the withdrawal from it is a very unpleasant couple of days.

PICU physios are miracle workers at clearing lungs - he is in good hands.

Leftbutcameback · 10/09/2021 21:11

Thank you for updating - I've been checking several times. I don't have children, but I do have a chronic lung condition (with gunk) and your post moved me so much. Will keep thinking of you and your poorly little one Flowers

Kakser · 10/09/2021 21:18

I've been thinking about you throughout the day OP. I'm sorry you and Henry are going through this. Hoping tomorrow is a good day for you both. Try to get some rest xx

wetrainday · 10/09/2021 22:51

Been thinking about you and your little H today OP. Sounds like he's a little fighter!
I really hope you can get some food and rest and we are all praying for some really good news tomorrow.
Lots of us will be awake throughout the night if you want to talk xx

I only came in to see how Henry was doing, so thanks for the update. Stable is good. I hope you have a peaceful enough place and space to sleep or rest when you can. Holding Henry in my thoughts.

peasoup8 · 10/09/2021 23:34

Good to hear your update OP, sending you all my love and prayers Flowers

addler · 11/09/2021 00:55

Thinking of you and little Henry. My friend's baby went through the exact same thing a couple of months ago, he was on a ventilator and his lung collapsed and was in hospital for a week. Within a few days of being home he was rolling around and shrieking like normal and you really would never have known what he'd just gone through. His parents were another matter however! It's incredible how quickly babies can bounce back.

Etinox · 11/09/2021 08:59

Thank you for updating @Floopyandtired
Look after yourself and little Henry.
