Tiny DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - hand hold

DS 14weeks has had a bit of a cold the last few days but this morning really deteriorated. I took him to the GP who said it was just a cold and sent me away. Throughout the day he got worse, fighting for breath, not feeding at all etc so I insisted the GP see him again this afternoon. One look at him and we were sent straight to hospital. DS is now on oxygen with a feeding tube and I’m in bits seeing my tiny baby so helpless. I’m trying to pump but I’m so exhausted and hungry I’m not getting much. DP not allowed to stay due to bloody fucking Covid even though we’re in a side room. Not sure why I’m posting other than to just get it out there.

Glad to hear Henry is home. I have a 17 week old and it is horrendous to watch them being unwell.

What a beautiful update. I'm so happy to hear that you're both home. All the best OP and how lovely of you to express such appreciation for the NHS. They are the true heroes of our times, undoubtedly.

Lots of love for you and Henry. Enjoy getting back to normality xxx

@Floopyandtired

When I created this thread I was desperate and terrified. I posted because I was lonely in a hospital by myself with my desperately unwell baby. I was seeking comfort and reassurance and I received that from the most lovely group of strangers. Reading every comment truly got me through some awful moments. I can’t thank you all enough. My final update is a happy one - Henry came home today. At his most unwell, H was cared for by the wonderful staff on the seahorse intensive care ward at Bristol children’s hospital. I will never be able to repay them. If you’ve found this thread in the future please know that your child will recover from RSV/bronchiolitis. You are in the best possible hands. In a life or death situation there is nowhere else I’d rather be in the world than in the arms of the NHS.

So for one last time thank you NHS and thank you MNers for the virtual hugs and handholds. The only way is up from here 😊

Wonderful news ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for the update, couldn't be more pleased for you and Henry.

MoreGinPlease2020 · 21/09/2021 19:24

So so glad he's home! We were on the seahorse ward too - the staff were fabulous. X

MoreGinPlease2020 · 21/09/2021 19:27

I would also echo @Clymene - I turned up at my GPs today without an appointment because I was worried about my daughter's breathing again (different sounds to last time though so I didn't phone 111 or 999). Given her recent history they saw her anyway and were so kind and said we're welcome back anytime for reassurance.

Tonkerbea · 21/09/2021 19:40

So pleased he's home! Thank you for that magic update!

I think I have something in my eye

Aah absolutely lovely update…I really hope Henry now recovers really quickly and you OP gets some rest and time to digest everything that has happened 💕….it’s a real shocker for you but you will recover..I had the same with my son 21 years ago and he is now at Leeds Uni in his final year and his big brother is living next to Bristol Uni working as an ecologist.💐
