Tiny DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - hand hold

DS 14weeks has had a bit of a cold the last few days but this morning really deteriorated. I took him to the GP who said it was just a cold and sent me away. Throughout the day he got worse, fighting for breath, not feeding at all etc so I insisted the GP see him again this afternoon. One look at him and we were sent straight to hospital. DS is now on oxygen with a feeding tube and I’m in bits seeing my tiny baby so helpless. I’m trying to pump but I’m so exhausted and hungry I’m not getting much. DP not allowed to stay due to bloody fucking Covid even though we’re in a side room. Not sure why I’m posting other than to just get it out there.

Hope it's reassuring to klnow that my DS2, now 6, was in hospital for 3 nights with bronchiolitis when he was 2 and a half weeks old. It was so worrying. I think I posted on here too. He was out after 3 days and fine. He was (after this, but there was no 'before' as he was so young) prone to croup and wheezing when he had a cold and sometimes we ended up back in hospital for steroid treatment but I don't know whether it would have been BECAUSE he got the bronchiolitis or that he was just prone to it. He hasn't needed an inhaler since he was about 4. I am sure your little one will be fine.

My grandson ended up on a ventilator at the same age for the same thing - he’s a strapping e year old now. Thinking of you all xx

Haven’t RTFT but wanted to hand hold. I’ve been there with my DD having bronchiolitis. They get worse before they get better. She was struggling at home on the Tuesday and we ended up in the hospital that night. Wednesday she seemed to perk up a bit and I was hopeful she was getting over it. However Thursday she was deteriorating and moved to HDU. She started to improve after a couple of days and home on the following Monday.

It’s a scary time. Wishing Henry a swift recovery.

Thinking of you and Henry. Try to stay positive. My now very healthy 5 year old was hospitalised with bronchiolitis when she was just 3 weeks old. We spent a pretty horrendous week in hospital with feeding tubes and ventilators but she recovered brilliantly. Thanks

Best wishes to both you and Henry, I will be thinking of and praying for you tonight.

Praying for you and little Henry - what a stressful time. I hope he's starting to do better this evening Flowers

furbabymama87 · 09/09/2021 19:03

I've been there and it's a huge worry but it will all be ok. One of my DDs had it at one week old and was hospitalised for 2 weeks. It was an awful time but once better she very quickly started thriving, gaining weight and was happy and healthy again.

Fleetw00d · 09/09/2021 19:04

Get well soon Henry 💙

OP, I’m also not religious but I am thinking of you and little Henry. No experience of this sort of thing so I don’t have advice but I am sure he is in the right place and they will take care of him. I’m sure you have more important things to focus on but it would be great to hear when Henry is on the mend. Love to you all x
