Tiny DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - hand hold

DS 14weeks has had a bit of a cold the last few days but this morning really deteriorated. I took him to the GP who said it was just a cold and sent me away. Throughout the day he got worse, fighting for breath, not feeding at all etc so I insisted the GP see him again this afternoon. One look at him and we were sent straight to hospital. DS is now on oxygen with a feeding tube and I’m in bits seeing my tiny baby so helpless. I’m trying to pump but I’m so exhausted and hungry I’m not getting much. DP not allowed to stay due to bloody fucking Covid even though we’re in a side room. Not sure why I’m posting other than to just get it out there.

Henry is in the best place. The medical staff will be doing everything he needs to recover.

Wishing him every strength to get better and for you and your DH to stay strong to get through this.

It also helps to remember that sometimes they need to go on the ventilator to give them a break and a rest. It's really really tough but its helping him fight the bugs.

OP just to let you know, I'll hang out here for a bit ok? If you need someone to chat to I will be around. It sounds odd but for me the worst bit with my DC wasnt when they were on the ventilator it was before that when they were working so hard to breathe. On the ventilator it was calmer and it helped me see it gave them the rest they badly needed.

So much love to you OP, praying for Henry to heal.

My DD was on a ventilator as a poorly infant, it's something you never forget BUT now she is a very healthy 5 year old, tearing the house apart after her day at school. I'm praying Henry will be the same.

Oh OP. So sorry. My DS was in with the same a few years ago aged 12 weeks, it was touch and go and very scary. It’s awful when they’re so tiny and helpless. As PP said although they seem so fragile and deteriorate fast they can also bounce back surprisingly quickly.
