Not sure if there is a thread like this, but I’m curious to know how much your baby(ies) weighed when you gave birth Smile
Also how your birth went if you want to share!

Mine weighed 3.69kg (8.135lbs according to google 😁)
Was a difficult birth for me! Took so many hard pushes and she didn’t want to come out 😩

9lb 4oz
11lb 13oz

WisteriaSuperior · 22/03/2021 14:16

@AleynEivlys what's a walking epidural? Xx

TomRipley · 22/03/2021 14:21

Ugh all huge

1st - 10lbs
2nd - 12lb 10oz
3rd - 8lbs 10oz

My 3rd would have been another whopper but I was induced at 37 weeks to stop that happening. The first two were around 42 weeks.
All straightforward vaginal births with no real complications but as you can imagine, baby number 2 was hard work!

@WisteriaSuperior The PTSD symptoms stopped for me about 8 weeks pp and there's about a 6 month waiting list for post-birth counselling there apparently, so i'd rather not relive it that long afterwards. DH says he couldn't go through watching that a second time and we can't financially afford a second child anyway.

I've lost two grandparents because the NHS messed up and complaining didn't get anywhere, so although i did really consider it, i don't feel like i'd get far complaining.

Mammyofasuperbaby · 22/03/2021 14:22

1st 2lbs 14oz - 7 weeks early. He never lost weight and came home 5 weeks later weighing 4lbs.
2nd 5lbs 3oz - 4 weeks early. He was extremely ill and needed surgery at 3 weeks old but is fit and healthy now

Caspianberg · 22/03/2021 14:25

8lb8 -4kg. Born on due date. 8 hrs straight forward labour.

waterlego · 22/03/2021 14:27

One was exactly 7lbs and the other was 8lbs 15.5 Grin

The heavier one (DC2) was an easier birth. But I was lucky and both were straightforward and fairly quick. I didn’t need gas and air or stitches.

MonkeyPuddle · 22/03/2021 14:28

DS was born at 37+5 and was 9lb 6, via c section after a 5 day induction. Cervix didn’t even soften let alone dilate

DD was born at 41+3 and was 10lb1, via EMCS after 12 hour back to back labour, had my waters broken and the were full of meconium, I spiked a fever, vomiting, rigors, DD was getting distressed and I was only 6cm, stated in for 5 days as we both needed IV antibiotics.

crispychicken12 · 22/03/2021 14:28

C-Section at 39 weeks - 10lb 1oz

Vallmo47 · 22/03/2021 14:31

Firstborn was 9.10oz, born at 40+5 after a smear and water breaking 5 hours earlier. Had early labour symptoms before water broke but still - not bad going. ;) Second degree tear though, ouch.

Second baby more stressful. Born at 41+5 weeks and got stuck at the shoulders and it was very scary.
Luckily, all ended well and her 10.02oz didn’t even cause a tear!

MaizeBlouse · 22/03/2021 14:33

Ds1 4.1kg so 9lb. V fast vaginal delivery with no pain relief!

Ds2 4kg so just under 9lb. Another v fast birth but in the water this time and I had enough time for gas and air.
Both born at 41+2. And both on rainy Wednesday evenings too!

JellyTeapot · 22/03/2021 14:40

DS1 8lb 8oz, emergency c-section at 42 weeks

DTs 5lb9oz and 5lb10oz, elective section at 37 weeks. They didn't start wearing DS1's old newborn clothes until they were about two months old.

Eileen101 · 22/03/2021 14:45

8lbs 8oz at 40+5 hard birth after a 32 hour labour.
7lbs 5oz at 39+6, shot out like a rocket after 7ish hours of labour.

Phillipa12 · 22/03/2021 14:46

Dc1, emcs at 40 weeks, labour did not progress. 9lbs
Dc2, elcs at 38 weeks, transverse. 10.9lbs
Dc3 elcs at 39 weeks. 9.15lbs
Dc4 elcs at 38 weeks. 11.6lbs.
What can I say.....I grow big babies.

NameChange74567 · 22/03/2021 14:55

Dd1 7lb 15oz 13 days late
Ds 8lb 13oz 5 days early
Dd2 7pb 10oz born on due date

Labour and birth with Ds was the easiest, he was the only one I went into labour naturally.

SquigglePigs · 22/03/2021 14:57

6lb 15oz born by planned c-section at 39 weeks.

SapphosRock · 22/03/2021 15:01

DD 7lb 8 (born on due date)

DS (9lb 8 (born a month early)

I dread to think how big DS would have been if born at full term.

DramaAlpaca · 22/03/2021 15:03

All three spontaneous labours:

DS1 39+2 6lb 11oz epidural and forceps
DS2 40+5 8lb natural birth
DS3 39+2 8lb 6oz, a lovely planned home birth

AyyX · 22/03/2021 15:07

@AleynEivlys

First baby was 8 lb 15 oz. Labour was about 24 hours in total. She decided to turn back to back with me near the end so that I got stuck at 9.5 cm dilated and contractions started tailing off. Had planned a water birth but in the end was given syntocinon to start the contractions back up and try to force her back round the right way. As I was very tired and fed up at that point, I opted to also have a 'walking' epidural. They said I had an hour to give birth to her before they would take me down for a caesarean. 58 minutes later, she was out. She came out the right way round, and left me with a small graze that required about two stitches.

That was a hospital birth and while I think they probably could have handled it a little better, it was overall a postive experience.

Second baby was 8 lb 8.5 oz and arrived after 3 hours in active labour. Hers was a water birth in a local birthing centre - no complications, no pain relief, partial darkness and utter silence. That birth was the most magical and enjoyable experience of my life.

Wow your second one sounded way easier! I’m hoping for a water birth with this second baby, wanted it with first but didn’t end up getting one. If I do get a water birth, hopefully it goes well! I’m worried about the pain still haha. I hope second time round it’s easier Grin

Wow 12lbs!!! I’m amazed. You did good!

MarceyMc · 22/03/2021 15:28

9lbs exactly, but as per PP she was delivered via c-section so probably inflated weight due to IV fluids and had a big drop when she was next weighed at home by the midwife.

Clockingon · 22/03/2021 15:47

Dc1 9lb 6oz, traumatic birth ending up on itu, baby was fine. Born at 39 +5.
Dt 6lb 8oz and 6lb 4oz, born at 37 weeks. Normal vaginally delivery.

LettucesAndRoses · 22/03/2021 16:01

3.890 kg at 41+3, 25 hours of labour, 2 tears and an episiotomy
Weirdly, I remember it as a positive experience.

MysteriousMonkey · 22/03/2021 16:04

7lbs 3oz
7lbs 13oz
9lbs 15oz
And 8 something 😁 all vaginally, 9lbs one was the easiest, that child wanted out 😂

Itsjustaride8w737 · 22/03/2021 16:04

8lb 6oz at 39+3.

Had an episiotomy and a haemorrhage. Debating wether to have a c section next (due June).
