C section and baby allergies poll

Hi just very curious to know anecdotally if there are others who had c sections and their baby ended up having cows milk protein allergy (CMPA) or other allergies not in the family.
Did you have a c section? Yes /no
Does your baby have any allergies? Yes/no
Do you have a family history of allergies?
Did your baby grow out of allergies if they had any?

3 c sections, none have allergies, no allergies in our family history that I know of.

I had two c-sections

Neither had / have allergies.

No family history of allergies.

Dd1 vaginal birth, no allergies
Dd2 c-section, is lactose intolerant (which was bastard hard before she was diagnosed or weaned). Cried non stop for 3 months from birth.
I can't deal with casein but no other family history.

No c section but my third child had CMPA (grew out of it at about 5/6 yrs), egg allergy (also grew out of) but still has peanut/nut allergy(anaphylaxis) for which he needs epipens and is unlikely to grow out of.
Oh and he’s coeliac
No family history of allergies like this but there is coeliac disease in the extended family.

One c-section
No allergies as a baby but she does have a couple of non-life threatening food allergies now, very mild.
DH has a lot of allergies so I think she got off lightly!

Sorry, forgot Q3. She grew out of it at around age 4 or 5, but it returned at around age 11 or 12.

I know coeliac disease is not an allergy btw, just giving the whole picture.

2 children born by Caesarian- one is allergic to penicillin, the other no known allergies so far. No family history of allergies other than occasional hay fever.

1 c/s. Some family history of hay fever, cat fur etc. No evidence of allergies in that dc.

Me: vaginal birth, nut allergy that I got as an adult and mild hay fever, same for my mum

My brother: CS, hay fever

DD: vaginal birth, no allergies yet,

DNiece: vaginal birth, bunch of food allergies including milk, too young at grow out of them

DPs family has one grandparent with a bunch of allergies which is what we blame DNs on

4 children, all C sections
No allergies
No family history of allergies

Well if the theory is 'only c-section babies get allergies' then someone would have noticed. If it's 'slightly more c-section babies get allergies' then you need a bigger boat sample.

It was more specifically were babies with CMPa without family history birthed by c section. This happened to me and I know of several others so I was just curious. I also remember reading in a pregnancy book about if you have a c section to ask for a vaginal swab to be transferred to baby so they pick up all the microbiome for their immune system. I wondered if this was linked to Cmpa

Two now adult children with born by c section.Neither have any allergies that I know of.
Five grandchildren, one born by c section, none have any allergies.Two great grandchildren both vaginal deliveries, one has excema.
No family history of allergies.

Both had mild eczema as babies. First child grew out of it by age 5 and second child has nearly got rid of by age 8.

Two CSs
Both were lactose intolerant as toddlers (yes, lactose, not CMPA, confirmed by stool samples) but they grew out of it
DS1 has awful hayfever in summer but so does DH
DS2 has no allergies

CMPA has become much more widely diagnosed in recent years and CS rates are creeping up. You’d need quite a sample size, and more diverse than MN, to draw a statistically significant conclusion.

Vaginal birth (and breastfed til 2.5 as that's supposed to make a difference), cows milk and egg allergies, no family history of allergies, not grown out them yet at almost 3.

I was born by c section and no allergies! 3 month old ds was also a c section baby and doesn’t appear to be allergic to anything.

It's not really a theory, OP- it's scientific fact that vaginal birth protects against allergies to an extent. However, the important but of that is, 'to am extent'- it noticeable on a population level, rather than an individual one.

DS was a vaginal birth and has CMPA. He's 4 now and still has it.

DD is 6 months and was elective caesarean. She has CMPA and an egg allergy.

I'm bf so egg and dairy free.

No family history of allergies
