C section and baby allergies poll

Hi just very curious to know anecdotally if there are others who had c sections and their baby ended up having cows milk protein allergy (CMPA) or other allergies not in the family.
Did you have a c section? Yes /no
Does your baby have any allergies? Yes/no
Do you have a family history of allergies?
Did your baby grow out of allergies if they had any?

Thanks for any responses!

I had a csection and ds has no allergies. I have an allergy to aspirin but I had this prior to ds birth.

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 18/03/2021 09:45

Vaginal birth.
Ds had cmpa and eczema.
No history of either in the family.
Ds hasn’t had an eczema flare up since about 8 months. He’s now 3, so hoping he’s out grown it.
We successfully completed the milk ladder at 18 months, and have had no CMPA issues since.

I had 3 vaginal births.
One DC had CMPA as a baby (now outgrown), then a nut allergy (now outgrown), and currently a celery allergy.
Two DC had mild eczema (now outgrown).
We have a family history of asthma.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 20/03/2021 20:13

2 sections.
No allergies.
No family allergies either.

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/03/2021 20:21

2 c sections. First had baby egg allergy, grew out of by 1yo. Now has nut, house dust mite and cat/dog allergies plus eczema.
2nd has no allergies.

I am allergic to dust and pet fur but nothing else. DH has mild eczema hayfever but no allergies.

PolarnOPirate · 20/03/2021 20:24

Hmm not allergies but compared to my first born (VB), my second:

C section - yes
Allergies - hmm no but hospitalised a couple of times for ‘reactive airways’, inhalers etc
No-one else in family has similar
Yes he is now 3 and just had his first healthy winter! Previous years he has coughed constantly through the night from oct-March :(

scarecrow22 · 20/03/2021 22:19

Did you have a c section? Yes x2
Does your baby have any allergies? No x2
Do you have a family history of allergies? DS2 many (including, now, sunlight :( ), DS1 psoriasis, me cows milk intolerance (not allergy). All three DS were CS
Did your baby grow out of allergies if they had any? DS had problems with pain and later constipation too - solved by moving him to A1 cows' milk, then grew out of it altogether by 2yo.

HazeyJaneII · 20/03/2021 22:32

Did you have a c section? 2 vaginal births and 1 c-section
Does your baby have any allergies? yes all 3 do
Do you have a family history of allergies? yes
Did your baby grow out of allergies if they had any? not yet-dcs are 15, 14 and 10

KaleJuicer · 20/03/2021 22:37

Did you have a c section? Yes x 2
Does your baby have any allergies? No neither
Do you have a family history of allergies? No
Did your baby grow out of allergies if they had any? n/a

Both breastfeed for over a year each (one of the many reasons I breastfed, and for so long - reduces the likelihood of developing allergies and eczema)

Flummoxedandtired · 22/03/2021 06:29

Emergency c section
Allergic to dairy, egg, dog hair, car hair, dust mites and mustard. 😞

Lostinspace23 · 22/03/2021 06:34

Vaginal birth.
Dd had CMPA, I had to give up dairy as was EBF. She also reacted to coconut.
Aged 3 now, she can manage cooked milk and small amounts of uncooked dairy but still gets eczema occasionally. Coconut seems ok now.
I’m allergic to dust and pet fur and we have a family history of coeliac disease.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/03/2021 06:34

Two c sections.

1 child is lactose intolerant and 1 is CMPI.

There is history of lactose intolerance in DH's family.

Both children (now 6 and 7) have got to step 7 on the 12 step milk ladder and stalled.

icedancerlenny · 22/03/2021 06:36

Vaginal birth. Daughter has CMPA with epipen. Age 12 not grown out of it.

candlemasbells · 22/03/2021 06:40

My brother and I both born via CS we both have allergies, mainly hay fever. My children both have CMPA and soya allergy, eldest born via CS also had egg allergy. Youngest was vbac.
We have a strong family history of allergies. My dad has hay fever and a maternal aunt had CMPA diagnosed as a baby in the 1950s! Neither were born by CS.
I did read somewhere years ago that people with allergies don’t tend to get internal parasites so from an evolutionary point of view allergies can be useful.

StopThisTrain28 · 22/03/2021 07:49

I was born by c section. Serious nut allergy with epipen. No other family history of allergies.

My brother was also c section however and has no allergies although has always had severe eczema.
