Hello,

To women with breastfeeding experience and stopped when you or dc were truly ready, did you celebrate or mark the occasion in some way when it came to an end? If so how? If no, why not?

Out of curiosity, would love to hear your views/experiences.
Thank you
Elemzee

@JaneNorman Pretty sure you're allowed a breastfeeding party bubble to invite up to 500 of your closest friends to the local airfield or palace of your choice for a "done with BF" party. We made our own breastmilk cheese and ice cream for the party. We've frozen it all for if DC ever actually stops BF.

Brilliant replies, sorry Op Grin

I requested "I'm free" by the SoupDragons in the resort bar and danced topless til midnight has to win.

Wish I'd thought of Breast Milk cottage cheese and yoghurts.

Breast Milk butter, Cream and fudge....

NoProblem123 · 03/02/2021 14:43

They’ll be cards for this next.

NotFabulousDarling · 03/02/2021 14:46

@oakleaffy pretty sure Gordon Ramsey has a recipe for breast milk chocolate fudge using breastmilk, cacao nibs, some parma violets and leftover Christmas mulled wine that's been stored in a wine cellar and aged for 3 months. You need a goat to do the stirring but who doesn't have one of those?

Superb!

''Parma Violet and Breast Milk with Cacao Nibs...''

Maybe we could get Fortnums to stock it??

MedusasBadHairDay · 03/02/2021 14:52

@MindGrapes

I got a beautiful shining drop of pearly milk tattooed on my right boob (always my child's favourite) as if it was dripping down from the nipple. For every dc I add another drop on that special day.

OP is right to ask "why not" to those that don't bother to commemorate this occasion. Why? Why don't you love your children like I do mine?

I clearly love mine more, when they stopped I expressed a bottle load, downed a whole bottle of champagne then refilled the bottle with the breast milk. I'll be presenting it to them on their 18th birthdays.

You can imagine it ...
 ''Congratulations on giving Baby the best start ever!''
But all good things come to an end...Happy Weaning Day'!
austenwildfell · 03/02/2021 14:55

@LynetteScavo
However, I have saved some breast milk in the freezer and will use it when I make DCs future wedding cake
LOL

FeckinCat · 03/02/2021 14:57

I had a bonfire for the ritual burning of all my mahoosive nursing bras.

When the fire engines left and the neighbours had eventually calmed down, I did my little dance of freedom all the way to the vodka stash under the sink.

Mylittlepony374 · 03/02/2021 14:58

This thread has made my day.

KnobblyWand · 03/02/2021 15:00

About 200 of our closest friends and family gathered and waited in a beautiful forest clearing at dawn. I rode serenely into view on a white horse, wearing a flowing, white gown and a crown made of ivy.

I dismounted, and sleeping DS was gently handed to me by an old lady I'd paid to wear mage robes, and we embarked on our final lifegiving feed.

Everyone cried and gave me a standing ovation.

saiditbetterthanme · 03/02/2021 15:02

I love this thread....so much more than boob milk.

😂 Do you think the OP has got what they were hoping for?
Justmuddlingalong · 03/02/2021 15:04

"If no, why not?"
Is there a marketing reason why you're asking? Or is it an information gathering exercise to gather Instagramable ideas? Or is it a hollow question so that you can regale us all with your celebration?

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/02/2021 15:07

@knobblywand im lolling

CloudPop · 03/02/2021 15:09

@SoupDragon

I took my children on a family holiday to the Caribbean and gave my youngest their last breastfeed whilst watching the sun set on the beach on our last day. Then I requested "I'm Free" by The Soupdragons in the resort bar and danced topless til midnight.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Findingapath · 03/02/2021 15:09

BF my two for 13m and 18m, it just naturally stopped with both of them, it was not a conscious decision at all, feeds were getting less and less frequent, down to one a day for a while and it got shorter and shorter, then one day I realised they hadn’t asked and I hadn’t offered for a few days. That was it, I didn’t really feel much about it because it had happened so naturally.

SummerHouse · 03/02/2021 15:11

Fascinating thread. I don't suppose anyone has a link to a site selling breast milk jewellery? Anyone?

Such a shame if I can't convert these 20mls into something I can cherish forever.

I also had a reflux baby so hoping to do the same with a pot of frozen vom.

katmarie · 03/02/2021 15:19

Goodness, I feel like my plaster of paris cast of my boobs, decorated in gold leaf, and displayed in pride of place on my mantlepiece is something of an under celebration compared to some. Is six months later too late to book that family trip to the carribean?

MichaelMumsnet · 03/02/2021 15:23

Ha. We were just about to take this one down but then read the replies.
Honourable mention to @SoupDragon for this:

MedusasBadHairDay · 03/02/2021 15:25

Of course we've all got the "Taking these back" tattoo, the one of with the two boobs, (one sad and leaky, one happy and perky) right? That's just the bare minimum surely?

Whyismycatanasshat · 03/02/2021 15:28

@SummerHouse What a wonderful idea for the reflux vom. Do you think I could have something down with the drops I could probably still find in the carpet/down the side of the wardrobe/could probably still wring some out of my dressing gown* 19 months on...

*all items have been washed but the memories remain so maybe the vom does too...
