Hello,

To women with breastfeeding experience and stopped when you or dc were truly ready, did you celebrate or mark the occasion in some way when it came to an end? If so how? If no, why not?

Out of curiosity, would love to hear your views/experiences.
Thank you
Elemzee

I can't believe how many of us commemorated this. And in so many varied and imaginative ways too.

❤️

@MrsXx4

I actually hired out a hall and invited 200 of my closest friends and family. They watched me breastfeed for the last time and when it finished we had fireworks outside! It was amazing! I had a 3 tier cake especially made and balloon arches the lot!!! It was bigger than my wedding! Grin
😂😂😂😂😂
SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 13:35

@LynetteScavo

However, I have saved some breast milk in the freezer and will use it when I make DCs future wedding cake Smile
What a fabulous idea!

I went away for a few days without the children. But not solely because I stopped breastfeeding.

I stopped when they started school- refused to go round there at playtime to stick my boob through the railings. 😉

ohcrepe · 03/02/2021 13:41

Haha, love the boob through railing and the topless dancing.

I'm a bit concerned by PP's breast milk wedding cake. Her first post seemed very earnest. Tell me the cake is a joke?

babbaloushka · 03/02/2021 13:48

Yes, we had fireworks with refreshments, including some I had expressed for the guests to try. Was a lovely occasion. I like PP's suggestion of saving some for DD's wedding cake, I might try and squeeze a little more out. The one year anniversary is coming up so I suppose I ought to do something to commemorate, ideas?

Bluetrews25 · 03/02/2021 13:48

I bowed and said a prayer at my altar to the goddess Pamela Anderson, as I felt great affinity with her for 24 hours. Then my beach balls deflated.
HTH.

MindGrapes · 03/02/2021 13:52

I got a beautiful shining drop of pearly milk tattooed on my right boob (always my child's favourite) as if it was dripping down from the nipple. For every dc I add another drop on that special day.

OP is right to ask "why not" to those that don't bother to commemorate this occasion. Why? Why don't you love your children like I do mine?

TheOrigRights · 03/02/2021 13:56

@SoupDragon

I took my children on a family holiday to the Caribbean and gave my youngest their last breastfeed whilst watching the sun set on the beach on our last day. Then I requested "I'm Free" by The Soupdragons in the resort bar and danced topless til midnight.
Ha ha, oh yes. After my youngest stopped BF at 4 years old my breasts were absolutely perfect for topless dancing...if spaniel ears are your thing....tiny spaniel ears at that.

nb this is tongue in cheek. They did their job, I'm proud of that and my boobs are just my boobs.

mylittleyumyum · 03/02/2021 14:01

Non ironically, when my eldest stopped, we went out for milkshakes that afternoon and she had her afternoon nap in the pram in the way home instead of sprawled across my legs with my boob in her mouth. It seemed fitting. Wine was consumed that evening.

Can't remember what I did with my youngest, probably batted her off and hid somewhere while her dad distracted her. Wine was probably consumed then too.

Whyismycatanasshat · 03/02/2021 14:01

I marked the occasion by having “no more” and “all gone” tattooed around each nipple to commemorate the words most spoken around them by the DC.

Tal45 · 03/02/2021 14:06

No, I was just kind of relieved.

TheSockMonster · 03/02/2021 14:10

I commissioned a jewelled chastity belt to be made from my expressed milk, lest I be tempted to accidentally get myself up the duff again any time soon.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/02/2021 14:13

Waiting for the OP to come back to update us all on her zoom BF party....

TaVeryMuchLove · 03/02/2021 14:15

I had the Red Arrows do a fly by. It felt right.

What a lovely tribute, did they do white smoke?
iMatter · 03/02/2021 14:18

I hired a small plane and fixed a banner to it saying "I'll be taking those back, thanks".

We flew all over our local area and made it onto our local news.

TaVeryMuchLove · 03/02/2021 14:18

They did. The whole town enjoyed it very much.

iMatter · 03/02/2021 14:19

I nearly forgot - I dribbled the last drops of breastmilk all over the adoring crowds below. It was very special.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 03/02/2021 14:20

I rode naked backwards through the village on a unicorn. Each time.

That sounds like a beautiful moment.
ShirleyPhallus · 03/02/2021 14:22

You know how you write words with sparklers on bonfire night? I did that with breast milk, squirted to the shape of MY BOOBS ARE FREE while a photographer captured the beautiful moment on long exposure, then edited together all the images. We then took some photos of the last moments of my son breastfeeding to provide him with some lasting memories to take with him when he leaves for university next week.

oakleaffy · 03/02/2021 14:23

@Zarinea

I assume OP was intending to be back with a 'spontaneous' link to that vile breast milk jewellery stuff?
Breast milk jewellery??

That sounds grim.

Would it not curdle?
