Yorkiegirl, it's west side of leeds, out of the centre. a trading estate I think.

we're all baby obsessed!! Mrs D - you big softie..! Mind you, I'm one to talk - getting into the v. bad habit (and not one Gina would recommend) of comforting ds2 when he wakes up at 5am by taking him out of his cot and holding him until he goes back to sleep... never did this with ds1, but am telling myself it's 'cos ds2 has got a bad cold and needs lots of cuddles..!

Dot - Gina would not approve!

Fennel · 19/10/2004 13:53

oh, sorry, I see you said that yourself. must read posts properly before replying

dot1 · 19/10/2004 13:54

I know!!! Shame on me for getting him out of the cot - this can only lead to months of sleep trouble and lots of controlled crying ahead (but it's sooooo lovely cuddling him back to sleep..!!)

dot1 · 19/10/2004 13:54

oops - Fennel - our last 2 posts crossed!!

dot1 · 19/10/2004 13:55

Must admit I'd be a happier Mummy if he just slept through until 7am though..!

Fennel · 19/10/2004 13:55

dot - years, not months.... I have friends booking into sleep training clinic with 4 year olds.

(but I would cuddle, personally, anyway)

Chuffed · 19/10/2004 13:57

how on earth do the parents cope for 4 years with disturbed sleep?

MrsDoolittle · 19/10/2004 13:57

Do you lift the ead end of hid cot dot?
I have put a pillow under dd's mattress and she seems to sleep much better like that. I also put loads of babybalsam over her before putting her night clothes on. Her nursery smells very 'medicinal'

MrsDoolittle · 19/10/2004 13:58

We don't know Chuffed, that's why we are thinking about number 2!!

Chuffed · 19/10/2004 14:02

I have 6 years between my sister and I, my dh has 2 between him and his sis. They are so much closer and I'd like a closer gap too between children. What I'm scared of is feeling this way always like after no.2 missing the baby going for no.3 etc etc. I suppose you hit those difficult years and it is easier to say no more...

Fennel · 19/10/2004 14:05

It sounds from other threads as though some people always want just one more little baby. it is possible to be sated though - I don't want more now, but I def wanted a 3rd.

I wanted a small gap partly cos I am very close to my dsis who is 20 months younger. and it is lovely seeing dd1 and dd2 beat the crap out of each other (sorry, watching them play so nicely together )

MrsDoolittle · 19/10/2004 14:10

There is 18 months between my sister and I, and a year exactly between my sister and brother. Then there is 3 years between my bother and little sister, she was a nice surprise.
Anyway, the four of us are very close and what age gap there was has disappeared since we've been through uni, I think.

lunavix · 19/10/2004 14:28

Question everyone- I'm upping ds's solids, to what I hope to be four cubes a meal (I have those posh ice cube trays with little lids though ) and I was wondering what everyone relates their cubes to when feeding from jars?
I just gave ds a jar of babyfood, but it looked a lot...

lunavix · 19/10/2004 14:31

And also I'm a firm believer on smaller gaps between children - there's 17 years between me and my sister and its always made our relationship feel more maternal than sisterly.

Fennel · 19/10/2004 14:38

lunavix, I never used ice cubes (oh, the heresy). I always used little pots about the size of 4-7 month babyfood jars. suspect an ice cube is about 1/3 of one of these pots.
you can get the pots really cheaply in places like Ethel Austin. I have a secret weakness for tupperware

Chuffed · 19/10/2004 14:48

3 of my ice cubes = about 2/3 a heinz container. I do a mix of jars, plastic containers and ice cubes. The 'pure fruit' by heinz are really handy plastic containers with a lid for feeding and storing food.
where did you get the icecube trays with lids...that would be really handy in my packed and small freezer.

lunavix · 19/10/2004 14:59

I got mine from Blooming Marvellous - you get 10 little pots with lids, then a tray to put them on, and its two trays for about £8, but I got four trays. Its really good!

lunavix · 19/10/2004 15:00

BTW thanks Chuffed and Fennel - big help

Chuffed · 19/10/2004 15:05

ooh they usually have a stall at the baby show and we are going on Saturday so will have a look out - thanks.

Fennel · 19/10/2004 15:10

Ethel Austin - £1.50 for 4 pots with lids. or for 3 baby-sized bowls with lids.

Yes, ds has got a pillow under his mattress at the top end, and he goes to sleep covered in vicks baby balsam and with olbas oil liberally sprinkled!! He just seems to naturally wake up at 5am for the day...
