I feel envious... I put on 3 and a half stone when pregnany with ds, and I'm now a stone heavier than I was before being pregnant with him, and I could have done with losing a stone then as well!

Tried ds with feeding himself today - and it went quite well! I was loading up the spoon, true more of it went in his eye than his mouth... oh and he's taking a few steps backwards in the baby walker now, it just must be easier!

lunavix · 28/10/2004 21:39

Although I must add, it wasn't pregnancy cravings for chocolate and chips - for the last 6 months all I ate was fruit! No wonder ds likes it so much...

oh Dolbear - must have been scary - but I'm glad everything's OK now. I remember when ds1 had to go to hospital when ds2 had just been born - complete nightmare and I was beside myself. He was fine in the end, but it's just so horrible knowing they're poorly...

Good news though - ds2 slept through until 6.30am today!!!!!!! He's slowly getting better and we haven't seen 5am for a couple of days now - keep all fingers crossed! Funnily enough, all his naps and nighttime sleeps have been better since we put a small furry bunny toy in his cot with him! Don't know if this is just coincidence, but whatever it is, it's staying in there..!

Back at work after a couple of days off - had the most wonderful time at home with dp and the kids. sigh... It's been great and I feel all happy and Mummy-like..!

Chuffed · 29/10/2004 09:19

Another good night here too. It can't be the exercise causing the fretful nights when I go to the gym. Although I did wash before bf last night where normally I just race straight home and stick her on so maybe it is the salt (she never seemed to mind).
Will see what happens tonight.
Glad all is going better for you all, I am so glad it is the end of the week can't wait to squeeze as much time in with dd as humanly possible over the weekend.

ds2 is currently giving us v. dramatic coughing/choking sessions with his Oats so simple in the mornings at the moment..! So I'm not sure when to start with the lumpy things. Dp reckons she's going to feed him Weetabix for the rest of his life - she hates it when he starts choking..! I'm sure ds1 was better at it, but it's tricky to remember.

I don't like the choking thing either - it invariably ends up with something coming back up... Took dd to doc's today as she has a rash all over her, following the nappy rash she had earlier in the week (got metanium now - seems to be helping). Doc had a cursory glance and pronounced it a viral infection. Hope it clears up before work next week!
How is the dolbear house now?

I would have thought so, yes - it doesn't help if they're off-colour and need you more when you're preparing to leave them though

Metrobaby · 29/10/2004 13:43

dolbear sorry to hear about your poor ds. How is he now?

HD - hope the viral infection clears up fast.

I found out why ds has been so grumpy and fussy with his food lately. He has his first tooth just breaking the surface of his gums He's eating a bit better now, although seems to love it when I mix some greek yogurt with it. When I do that he'll happily polish the lot.

Feeling a little sad today as I booked in ds' settling in days at nursery today. We only have 5 weeks together now and I know it will fly by I'm also giving up bf'ing and starting to cut down on his feeds. I think I'm going to miss feeding him. I can't believe how quickly time has flown.

Fennel · 29/10/2004 14:04

hi all

back from half term "holiday" at my parents. Am fatter, tireder and grumpier than last week. but at least duty is done to the relatives now.

sorry to hear about the sick babies Dolbear and HMC.

dd3 is used to lumpy food already (due to lazy mother who just shovels in the lumps). she's drinking far less milk since getting onto solids, she'll hold off on the milk feeds waiting for "real" food. do the others do this? I don't think my other two did.

Fennel · 29/10/2004 14:04

sorry, HD not HMC

LucyJones · 29/10/2004 14:07

Welcome back Fennel - I thought you had been quiet. My ds is really into his solids too and sometimes just plays with his bottle. He has 3 7oz bottles of formula a day now, on waking, mid afternoon and at bedtime. OOh, you can probably answer my bread question - is it ok to be giving him a crust of bread to munch on? Even if it isn't toasted?

Fennel · 29/10/2004 14:11

hi Lucyjones

I think all bread or toast etc is fine by now, can't see why not.

Metrobaby · 29/10/2004 14:12

Welcome back Fennel. My ds has 3 bf a day (morning. late afternoon and bedtime). He also has a small 4oz bottle staright after lunch too. His late afternoon bf feed is only 1 boob's worth though

LucyJones - I've been giving my ds toast without crusts. He seems to be Ok with them. A lot of it ends up on the floor I think. He also enjoys baby ricecakes too.

LucyJones · 29/10/2004 14:27

Thanks! That's a relief because it's such an easy thing to give them especially if you don't have time to cook/puree etc

Chuffed · 29/10/2004 15:04

What's everybody up to in the weekend?
We are going to do some 'preparing for Christmas' shopping ie. working out what we are going to buy for budgetting over the next 2 months, and off to farmers market for groceries for the week on Sunday.

Fennel · 29/10/2004 19:11

metrobaby -that sounds about the same as dd3. maybe it's normal, my others had mixed feeding at this age and dd3 just bf so it is hard to compare.

chuffed - we are going to chester zoo on sunday. it will possibly be toddler-crowded hell but we have freebie tickets to use up.

hi yorkiegirl - no, he was running late (typically) and only had time for the windsurf shop, nothing else. I think the bad weather put him off too.
