fennel that's what dd has 2 of, one is just visible and the other can only be felt via finger.

I'm an interloper but as a right at the end of March baby I feel at home with the April ones as we all went through the pregnancy together.

Welcome Lunavix I think the hardest thing is learning all the abreviations ie. dd = dear daughter, ds = dear son, dh = dear husband, dp=dear partner. bf = breastfeeding, iyswim=if you see what i mean.

Enjoy the site, you'll wonder what you did without it after a while.

Fennel, it was me that asked re the tooth. DD definitely has at least one poking through - seems to be giving her grief.
lunavix - welcome! I have a dd who was born 18 April (also have a ds who's 5).
Good idea to explain those abbreviations, Chuffed

YG - has dd2 had any more settling-in visits at the chilminder's yet? DD is starting next week.

I am planning to make an appt to have my hair cut when dd goes.
We'll have to give each other moral support for 1 Nov!

my ds was born on the 15th, and he's the first! Hopefully of many - although my fiance is threatening no more since our little sleep-through-the-night angel turned overnight into a day-long screaming howling damien! has this happened to anyone else? everyone keeps saying he's teething but i'm starting to think thats too easy an excuse, mainly as there are no teeth in sight...

Fennel · 11/10/2004 19:45

lunavix, can I ask why you have that name? is it to do with moods and the moon?

It could be teething, you'll only really know if a tooth appears. or he could have indigestion if he's trying new foods.

my dds adore going to the dentist, especially to watch me or dp opening our mouths. then they come home and play at dentists.

lunavix · 11/10/2004 19:55

It was lunar vixen (is that how you spell lunar?) once upon a time, then someone already had it on a site i registered on, so it was shortened, to be honest no real meaning other than no idea what to put on username spaces!

i'm really wary of it being teething, as his father didn't get his first tooth till he was 18 months... he's had two colds in the last month and he's got an awful rash covering his chest neck and rash which the doctor claims is my non-bio i've used since he was born...
Poor little man!

lunavix · 11/10/2004 19:59

handlemecarefully · 11/10/2004 23:11

Hi lunavix and welcome

Chuffed - just seen that you'll be visiting the 'deep south' soon, and yes it would be fun to meet up

Thanks Fennel for the insights re toddlers (i.e. bad behaviour is probably entirely unrelated to baby). You're right of course!

Mrs D and Yorkiegirl - impressed by your babies wide and varied palates. My ds stills pulls a gurning expression when required to eat anything other than fromage frais (still this greatly entertains his older sister - have to admit that his expression is comical). Now resorting to a ratio of 3 mouthfuls of fromage frais to 1 mouthful of savoury option.

Baby ds has now started to sit - they do look grown up when they first attempt this. He is not entirely reliable yet and has to be encircled by pillows to act as a crash mat for when he looses his balance, but he can hold a sitting position for a couple of minutes or so now....

Have any of you been following the melodrama on the other bits of mumsnet? (i.e. mostly posted under 'Other' subjects). Don't know what to make of it really - all a bit bemusing (and exasperating)

MrsDoolittle · 12/10/2004 11:08

HMC - being the nosey that I am, I have trawled through the 'Other subjects'. Do you mean all the sniping and stuff? I am supposed to be working and trying to avoid it. It's been going on for a while though.

Hi lunavix. Welcome we are a lovely friendly bunch here. Whatever goes on on the rest of the site, we are all friendly and tend to keep orselves out of mischief!

Yorkiegirl - you are 'out there'. can you tell us what is going on?

Must go and do some work. Cheerio

Fennel · 12/10/2004 11:48

I keep seeing threads about other controversial threads that have been deleted. It's most frustrating!

am very sore-breasted today. They are swollen from PMS, bitten by dd3, and I seem to have a blocked milk duct too so a big painful lump. aagh. it's like the early weeks of bf all over again . DP and roommate at work say give up the bf. am wavering....

MrsDoolittle · 12/10/2004 11:49

How many people in your bedroom Fennel? Or have I completely misunderstood?

Fennel · 12/10/2004 11:54

Lol Mrs D. just me, DP and dd3 in my bedroom. I meant my roommate at work (who had 10 children and now endless grandchildren so expert on everything)

MrsDoolittle · 12/10/2004 11:56

Reclaim your boobies!!!

Tickle · 12/10/2004 12:08

just a quickie before dd2 wakes up and demands lunch!

welcome lunarvix... just saw your post re rash - wonder if your ds is a dribbler? sometimes just being damp from dribbling can give them a rash, so if he is, maybe try plastic backed bibs?

gotta go!

Tickle · 12/10/2004 12:08

sorry, lunAvix!

lunavix · 12/10/2004 13:16

Yup he dribbles - but would that cause a rash down his chest, and all down his back?

hewlettsdaughter · 12/10/2004 13:17

Could it be related to bath/shampoo products you are using lunavix?

hewlettsdaughter · 12/10/2004 13:27

Fennel - hope things pick up for you. You're supposed to keep feeding to get rid of a blocked duct aren't you? Why not do that, wait until your period is over and then see how you feel?
Only saying this because I remember you were very positive about bf'ing recently.

MrsDoolittle · 12/10/2004 13:34

Just ignore me. I am sure I am not being sensible!

hewlettsdaughter · 12/10/2004 13:38

MrsD - you are everywhere on mumsnet today
