This makes sense Fennel and I guess you are probably right. Truth is I am working and I hate expressing, which leaves me with one option really. If I fed her more solid food, she might not be getting enough milk.

Green & Black's!

That last comment was in reply to Fennel.

Whats Green and Blacks?

LucyJones · 11/10/2004 12:08

Hi everyone - ds had another restless night so I'm very tired again! I gave him weetabix for his brekkie this morning and he wasn't very impressed. Yesterday he had a bit of turkey (with potato and carrot) but I think it was a bit dry as he was pulling some very funny faces. He had tuna, cheese and sweet potato on his 6 month birthday and liked that!

hewlettsdaughter · 11/10/2004 12:09

The best chocolate ever - organic, high percentage cocoa (you can get it from the Chocology shop in the Covered Market in town).

hewlettsdaughter · 11/10/2004 12:10

All these 6 month birthdays... dd will be 6 months next Sunday. How do you all feel about them reaching half a year?

MrsDoolittle · 11/10/2004 12:14

Now your talking HD!
Lucyjones - your ds sounds liked dd. We tried hard-boiled egg yesterday -the first time I have seen her refuse anything. The look of disgust on her face was hilarious!! Will try another time with tomatoe juice.
I think it's teething that waked dd up sometimes. When I pick her up she chews my shoulder while falling back to sleep

Fennel · 11/10/2004 12:15

oh yes, Green and Blacks definitely Have you tried their choc ice cream? (from Sainsbury's). am not big ice cream fan, preferring my chocolate undiluted, but this is almost pure frozen choc and cream. (hey, I have a period AND I am breastfeeding, it's def a chocolate day....)

hi Lucyjones. was that fresh tuna or tinned?

dolbear · 11/10/2004 12:17

oooo , now there is a genius idea - cadburys world , good thinking , I think any branch of Thortans maybe a bit overwhelmed with all of us turning up with BB's, dh's and dp's in tow , funny though !
we are still only travelling backwards , can sit up on own , but falls over like a weeble when gets over excited !
get 1st cold ' th mo - yuk !

MrsDoolittle · 11/10/2004 12:17

It's gone far too quickly HD!
I'm off to meet dh for lunch now..

MrsDoolittle · 11/10/2004 12:18

Sorry dolbear - didn't mean to talk over you.

hewlettsdaughter · 11/10/2004 12:23

Funnily enough, had the G&B choc ice cream recently. Waitrose's own is good too . Know what you mean about the weeble thing, dolbear...

hewlettsdaughter · 11/10/2004 12:24

Sympathies re getting your period, Fennel

Fennel · 11/10/2004 12:28

perhaps we could contact thorntons for sponsorship of our meet-up. green and blacks is fair trade so presumably not into sponsering eaters rather than producers of cocoa.

at uni I was a member of a Raving Chocophile Society. my friend sent the "minutes" to Cadbury's, who sent us a big parcel of chocolate!

I had 3 days this weekend without logging in. proving to myself am not really addicted to mumsnet. but seem to have regressed a bit this morning.... must get offline and go and find some chocolate...

hewlettsdaughter · 11/10/2004 12:30

Had wondered where you were Fennel... we're all addicted, let's face it

Chuffed · 11/10/2004 12:51

agree to both the love of chocolate and mumsnet

LucyJones · 11/10/2004 12:54

Hi Fennel - tuna was tinned - in spring water not brine or anything!
MrsD - is it just the yolk we can give them at the moment or the white? (I can't remember). I mixed the turkey with formaula just now but he still didn't like it!

LucyJones · 11/10/2004 13:08

Another question for MrsD - I'm sure ds would take to weetabix a lot better if it had sugar added to it but of course that is a no-no. So is it okay for them to have maple syrup?

MrsDoolittle · 11/10/2004 13:40

Maple syrup was suggested by Annable Karmel for greek yoghurt. Dd doesn't need it for greek yoghurt but I thought it would be nice on her porridge.
I thought they could eat of of the egg aslong as it is hardboiled. I think dd thought it was a bit too crumbly, so I will have to be a bit more creative giving it to her next time.
Should we start planning our meet-up now? I can't believe how quickly the last 6 months months has gone, another will be round in no time.

Chuffed · 11/10/2004 14:07

you could probably do scrambled if it is well cooked couldn't you?

I read somewhere that molasses is a good sweetner as it is full of iron - has anybody tried it?

We really should start looking at booking in a get together soon as it'll be their first Christmas before we know it. I think somewhere like Warwick Castle (haven't been there before) or someplace similar is a great idea as we could all bring a plate and have a picnic or something like that and tons of room to run around for the older kids and dh/dp's who want to play frisbee and football.

MrsDoolittle · 11/10/2004 14:12

Great idea Chuffed , but I suspect it'll be too cold to be outside. I'm sitting here going brrrrrr as I post!

Chuffed · 11/10/2004 14:30

agree - any other ideas that could include the other kids and partners?

lunavix · 11/10/2004 15:18

I just joined this website and have no idea where to start, so i thought here as my little boy is an april baby! hi everyone!

Fennel · 11/10/2004 15:45

hello Lunavix, welcome to the site. and the april babies thread!
is he your first child? what day was he born on?

have just posted a distinctly unhelpful comment on a thread about preparing nipples for breastfeeding (my suggestion involved a cheesegrater). am waiting to be ticked off. now dd3 has a tooth I've had more painful feeding which brings back the painful memories.

mrs d - the tooth has broken through the gum but is not fully out. does that count?
