If we (when) have another I'd leave work as it wouldn't be cost efficient for me to work so I think that helps the cluckiness. No advice I'm sorry LucyJones no advice on your dh, mine was ready for another when dd was about 6wks too.
Birmingham would be fine for us as long as we keep costs right down. I've only been there to go to the NEC centre so don't know it at all.
Lowryn another singer here and a smack my boob while eating. Sometimes she grabs a fist full of skin and tissue and squeezes rhythmically I assume that helps the flow. Not very comfortable for me.
I've found with dd's home purees when I am heating them they sometimes go a little dry and if I add a bit of formula she has no problem eating them. Discovered this yesterday as in the past I was adding a bit of water now I add a bit of her milk and she gobbled two dishes that she sprayed me with the other day. I think we've discovered a favourite, tuna melt got gobbled the other day after we had it for dinner I just whizzed a serving for some icecubes.

Am typing single-handed as dd is sitting in my arms and bouncing!
Another 'hummmer' here. I thought it was a sort of satisfied humm, dd does it in between mouthfuls of food. She is also sleeping til 8am now, so she is ravenous by the time I bring her into bed for a feed. My poor boobs and nipples get squeezed very hard by flailing hands.

She is funny - trying to catch my hand as I type!

Chuffed - I have to say I am amazed that you and dh were broody again so soon (6 weeks!). However - good on you, for knowing what you want (good job you both feel the same!)
DD is in a grobag for the first time tonight - it looks huge on her (I bought a 6-18 month one). She does look quite cute though

hewlettsdaughter · 16/10/2004 21:18

By the way, for those of you who use grobags - what do you dress your baby in? The thermometer thing that came with the grobag I got suggests a bodysuit with a pyjama top for the temperature of the room she is in. I have always used babygros/sleepsuits for bedtime though - would dd be too hot in one of those and a grobag? (is it better for their legs to be free?)

Ok - thanks Yorkiegirl . I followed the instructions and so dd is wearing just a bodysuit with a top over the top - I'll check her toes later!

Fennel · 16/10/2004 21:34

dd3 has a grobag and sleepsuit underneath and I think she's too cold. she sleeps by an outside wall and our house is old and we don't heat it much as I like to sleep in arctic conditions. if I had got round to it she'd be in fleecy sleepsuit and have a blanket on the grobag - surely just a vest would be a bit cool?

Fennel · 16/10/2004 21:36

I guess we'd better have this meetup soon - if we leave it til next year some people may get too pregnant to travel .

yorkiegirl, does your dd2 sleep in a heated room with her grobag? my grobags are secondhand or homemade so we have no instructions. they don't seem that warm to me, to not have much else on.

Fennel - the guidance that came with my grobag suggests bodysuit and pyjama top for 18 degrees.

handlemecarefully · 16/10/2004 23:27

It's been a fairly ambient 19 degrees in ds' room and he sleeps in a sleepsuit and grobag. Don't know if that's correct but he seems okay.

Tickle - how did the 4th birthday party go ? (I don't envy the post party clear up!). Did the Tickle family have fun?

Ds is also a very noisy baby - I wouldn't describe it as singing so much as he sounds at bit like a veloceraptor (probably spelt it wrong - one of those dinosaurs on Jurassic park), and I definitely put this down to older sister's influence.

Ds is trying to commando crawl now, and after herculean effort and moaning with frustration he can slither a few feet forward to get to a toy. Bless him, it leaves him tired out...

Chuffed - good luck with trying to conceive. However with sensible head on now, you will need to watch your nutrition etc a bit more. I think it was LucyJones who mentioned having read somewhere about leaving it 12 months ...from memory this is something to do with your body needing to recover...for instance mums having a subsequent child after a short interval often become anaemic....(I did, and I waited 12 months before conceiving) Not trying to suggest its a bad thing at all - go for it! - just maybe think about vitamin supplements etc

Now we are plus 270 posts on this thread do you think we should start part 5?

Fennel · 17/10/2004 09:17

I got pregnant with dd2 when dd1 was 8 months and it was my easiest pregnancy. I didn't have any health or nutrition problems. and I was still bf for the first 3 months (then it just dried up). I did lose the weight I'd gained with dd1 (1.5 stone that time) before I got pregnant so my body felt in reasonable shape. What I'm trying to say was it was fine, health and fitness-wise, with a short gap, if you are fairly healthy.

I think Bluecow had a small gap this time didn't she? what do you think?

I think our room is below 18 degrees at night now, maybe 12-15. Will have to find a thermometer. dd1 has woken a bit early this week and feels cold.

dolbear · 17/10/2004 11:44
