Hello! Work's keeping me busy at the moment - so no time to read all the thread and write much..! But re: cow's milk - ds has a Weetabix in the morning, which we give him with a mashed banana and 4oz of formula. Then we chuck cow's milk (organic!) in with his other meals - and have done since we started weaning him at 15 weeks...! Will probably move to cow's milk with his Weetabix soon - if only 'cos formula's so expensive!!

Ds is sooooooo gorgeous - prefers sitting up now to lying down - and has started to roll over on to his front at night to sleep... He's now sleeping much better - maybe as a result - and is going from 7pm - about 6.30am - hurrah! Slightly worried about the sleeping on his front thing, and I do turn him back over when I go up to bed, but have to accept that there's not much I can do about it once I've gone to sleep!

Chuffed - well at the moment i'm going to work part time in the evenings (like a lot of other new mums) but thats why im thinking childminding for the next couple of years... I always said i'd go back to work and put ds in nursery but the moment he was born i knew it would be hard, and then i got round to doing the maths too... plus i found out some horror stories about local nurseries feeding 4 month old weaning babies on pureed chicken nuggets and chips.

YG - Karvol also do drops you can put on a hanky (or a flannel, I think we're too young for hankies in my house) and tie near the cot, we also raised the top of DS's cot on yellow pages and its helped a lot with his bunged up nose.
Lowryn - are you planning on exclusively bf? or stopping eventually? if you think you'll ever give milk as a drink before 1yr old then you'll probably need step up formula so you could use that on weetabix...

Hello! Dot - my ds is having the same breakfast as yours although he's having it with full fat cow's milk. He doesn't eat all his weetabix just yet though and definitely prefers the banana bits in it! Sorry for confusion over eggs - I read somewhere that it was just yolk from 4-8 months but I think that was if you had a family history of allergies.
MrsD - I having been lurking on some of these controversial threads and noticed you on there - very brave to be talking to Coddy

lunavix · 13/10/2004 09:36

oops sorry guys for the double post!

i have a rather crude "downstairs" issue thats been bugging me for ages, but i'm a bit scared to ask incase i offend anyone....

hewlettsdaughter · 13/10/2004 09:38

Ask away, I doubt anyone who has been through conception/pregnancy/childbirth would be offended by what you might have to say

LucyJones · 13/10/2004 09:39

Sorry forgot to say hi and welcome to Lunavix

lunavix · 13/10/2004 09:42

dot1 - crikey are you bf? its very confusing knowing how much solids to give if you arent, im so conscious of over feeding! if you are really concerned about sleeping on tummy, one of the mail order catalogues (blooming marvellous or vertebaudet or something) has a foam support that keeps them on their back, but i remember reading somewhere once they're old enough to roll onto their tummy and sleep you might as well let them as long as they are able to roll back normally.

lunavix · 13/10/2004 09:43

oh and hi lucy :c)

LucyJones · 13/10/2004 09:55

We're all on tenterhooks Luna for your 'downstairs issue'!! (if you still want to ask that is!)

lunavix · 13/10/2004 10:07

oh sorry hd i didnt see that post!

well has anyone seen that demi moore movie with her 'ping pong ball trick'? :c) (I hope someone knows what i mean else this will be very embarrassing) Because I've acquired those muscles (although not for ping pong balls - at least I haven't tried!) and if it's that time of the month and I do those pelvic floor exercies - which i must admit is rarely - well, it could get messy... is this just me?

lunavix · 13/10/2004 10:16

see everyones gone quiet and i'm embarrassed!

hewlettsdaughter · 13/10/2004 10:16

lunavix, I'm not sure what you're saying - is it that your pelvic floor is weak? If so, that's very common after (vaginal) childbirth isn't it? If you think you have a problem do you think you could go to the gp with it?
(Sorry if I've misunderstood!)

lunavix · 13/10/2004 10:18

lol no i think its too strong!

nevermind i think i am the only one!

hewlettsdaughter · 13/10/2004 10:19

Ok, I get it - how have you managed that then if you haven't been doing the exercises much?!

lunavix · 13/10/2004 10:21

i have no idea! but it is seriously a pain.

i was just wondering if any one else had discovered this too!

hewlettsdaughter · 13/10/2004 10:21

Erm, not me...

MrsDoolittle · 13/10/2004 10:29

Believe it or not ladies, Formula has a much higher saturated fat content than cow's milk which is what little babies need for healthy growth, follow on milk has less saturated fat but still more than cow's milk. babies need fat to make their brain's grow!!

Fennel · 13/10/2004 10:33

how can they be too strong, lunavix? I'm not quite clear, surely the stronger the better. Thai prostitutes apparently practice picking up peas at the end of a straw using these muscles. (useless fact of the day).

I also thought Mrs D very brave/foolhardy to mess with Coddy.

Chuffed - I have been wavering between going to evening exercise classes (to regain old figure and fitness) and not seeing dd3 on evenings after nursery days. For now I stopped the evening classes so may be a bit less fit but feel happier about seeing more of dd3. hard, isn't it? In my experience they get far easier to leave as they get a bit bigger though.

MrsDoolittle · 13/10/2004 10:35

Obviously I have only now read the rest of the thread!
Lucyjones - not one to be intimidated me, can't stand all this nasty stuff!!
Dot, I'm pleased to hear things are going so well. Your ds is only 2 days older than dd!
Difficult trying to keep up with this thread these days.
Must dash - now I REALLY have work to do!!

LucyJones · 13/10/2004 10:38

Luna - sorry am not with you either! What do you mean messy at time of month? I thought the tighter the better too.

MrsDoolittle · 13/10/2004 10:41

Sorry to be crude - Lunavix, isn't your dh pleased?

hunkermunker · 13/10/2004 10:43

Hello - just found this thread - having fun navigating MN!

My boy's an April baby (born on the third, but due on 24th March, however, we won't talk of that!). He's called Fraser and is currently asleep (hooray!).

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone.

Hunkermunker

lunavix · 13/10/2004 10:44

well when it's that time of the month it's messy...
If i squeeze i can squeeze things out!

I'm sure DP is delighted but he hasn't mentioned anything though!

My god I'm the only one! I'm a freak!

LucyJones · 13/10/2004 10:44
