Lowryn, I offered dd3 a bit of baby rice again yesterday as she was grabbing at my food. but she grinned and kept her mouth tight shut. which is fine by me, it sames me time and cleaning. she just likes grabbing things.

Fennel · 26/09/2004 20:45

saves me, not "sames me"

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:45

Fennel, I shan't go on about it but I can't resist saying that dd's new nappies are gorgeous! Dh thought the rainbow one was a hat! He put it on dd's head and said she looked like a "Rasta"

21 weeks. I am not sure whether
he isn't ready for solids as he doesn't seem to enjoy them
or
He doesn't like what I have offered and I should try carrot or swede, or something veggie
or
He has actually been around once before and can't understand why he has to eat mush! Damn this re-incarnation!

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:47

DD never liked baby rice, not even if I add it to things and she taste it!

Lowryn · 26/09/2004 20:48

He actually grabbed a big piece of DH's brocolli and was madly gnawing on it before I noticed and confiscated it!

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:48

Lowryn what are you tring to feed him?
Fennel your top tip about bottle feeding meant that I have never had a problem with bottles

Lowryn · 26/09/2004 20:48

Doesn't like banana, apple, mushed up rusk or baby rice...Tomorrow we try carrot!

hewlettsdaughter · 26/09/2004 20:49

Like the re-incarnation idea Lowryn

Lowryn · 26/09/2004 20:49

I was going to start a thread...This week I have been mostly wearing....
Baby rice
He can really spit it far

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:51

I did sweet potato and cinnamon for dd yesterday - she loved it!
Maybe he's just not ready though Lowryn?

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:52

That would be a funny thread I'm sure you would get loads of posts

hewlettsdaughter · 26/09/2004 20:54

Re bottles - I find myself in exactly the position I was in with ds - childminder settling-in visits looming and I have NO IDEA if dd will take a bottle or a cup (aaaarrrggghhh!)

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:55

Fennel, I am wondering about those light bulbs.

HD we should get together - you'll be going back to work soon I guess [

hewlettsdaughter · 26/09/2004 20:56

I go back 1 Nov - although dd will go to the childminder for some visits before then

Lowryn · 26/09/2004 20:58

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't worry too much.
I remember the sweet potato and cinnamon from when DD was little...Yum.

He has definitely been re-incarnated! We think he is DH's late father come back for a second go.
DS gets very grumpy when you stick him in his baby activity center, but put golf, motor racing or the antiques roadshow on and he is a happy little chap.
He looks like a little old man too. He has never looked particularly babyish, although is podging up nicely now.

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 20:58

Girls - Russell Crowe is on in a skirt, so I am off to sit wistfully in front of the tv and wish....

MrsDoolittle · 26/09/2004 21:00

I'll e-mail you tomorrow HD. Sleep well everyone

Fennel · 26/09/2004 21:01

Mrs D - yes that's one of the most important tips I got from a friend.

Now if you try suggesting to health visitor or nursery that baby won't eat mush because they are a reincarnation of a solid-food-adult and remember it - THAT would get you labelled as a weirdo hippy mummy

I have one of those light bulbs already, it's very good. also have a proper lightbox (practically standard issue in grim old Manchester, national S.A.D. capital). We are making serious plans to move or emigrate somewhere sunnier.

Lowryn · 26/09/2004 21:03

fennel!!!
My HV might just smile, nod her head and fish out the attractive white jacket with the convenient back buckles!

Fennel · 26/09/2004 21:03

am too late, all gone to watch gladiators? I am off to watch videos of John Corbett in Northern Exposure. Very nice. have lusted after him in Sex and the city and now have found a whole new drama series to admire him in. [can't find a good lustful emoticon]

hewlettsdaughter · 26/09/2004 21:07

Cool - a lightbox. Are they v. expensive?

ooo I have sooo got to stop trying to read mumsnet after 2 glasses of rose ha ha
found the new thread though hurah !
excuse pants typing ! ds not quite got the hang of crawling -
nice one YG by the way.
Ds can go round in circles and backwards only and 4 those of u who know my family history no suprises there !!!
I have met g/dad new lady - she is nice , but is 2 soon 4 me at the mo
ah well
also got grobag - is excellent tool 4 indicating sleep time 2 ds - u no the following same routine @ bedtime thing - does work , when we put ds in ghis he drops right off

dot1 · 27/09/2004 08:54

Morning (yawn). We've now tried putting ds in a warm fuzzy sleepsuit, + low level heater in his room, feeding him more carbs for his tea time meal and generally knackering him out, but he's STILL waking up at 5am...! Although he did go back off again today until 6.30am - more because lazy Mummies couldn't get out of bed to get up with him..!

He's now a whopping 21lbs - on about the 93rd centile thingy, but HV said not to worry, he's active and happy and will probably lose a bit of weight when he starts crawling - although how he's going to be able to move I don't know - too heavy! He loves sitting up and seems to be able to do it brilliantly now - I'm sure it took ds1 longer to get the hang of it! Mind you, a broad bottom helps and he has to learn fast with ds1 around..!
