Stupid/daft things you've done since becoming a mum

Today I nearly blinded myself! Had my mind on other things, was tired as DD was not sleeping well after having jabs, and I reached for my eye drops to refresh my poor shattered eyes. Dh wondered what on earth was going on when I stumbled out of the bathroom, dripping wet and wearing only a towel (had just had a shower) and screaming that my eye was burning. I had inadvertently put Clinique spot treatment gel into my eye instead, and spent all afternoon at A&E having my eye flushed out with saline! Now I have to suffer an almost-closed eye, bloodshot and oozing pus until the antibiotic cream that they gave me takes effect! What a plonker!

I went out shopping leaving both door to our flat and the front door of the house wide open the other day. Don't tell dh!
My other good one is that I carefully strap ds into his car seat and clip him in and then drive off with dd rattling around unbelted in the back with her crying "mum, you've forgotten me again". I just haven't got the hang of having two kids yet.

I went shopping with my gorgeous newborn baby and took the whole carrycot into the supermarket with me so I didnt wake the little darling up...got some shopping, packed it up, paid for it and walked away, leaving the little mite and her SO BIG YOU COULDNT MISS IT carrycot on the conveyor belt!

I have dont the wrong thing in eyes before BTW It means you check everytime from now on forever!

I got into a complete panic at my mums place when DS2 (22months) completely disappeared from view as several cars were being turned in front of the house. Mum pointed out I was actually carrying him on my hip at the time. It's either "mummy brain" or early onset dementia......

today to my complete embarressment i phoned "School" - so titled on my works moby cos i couldnt remember the number - to tell them that my 14 yr old hadn't come home from school and i hadn't been informed of a detention - just as i was about to go off on a rant i got... am sorry but this is XXXX junior school......my twins were pissin emselves laughin at me - i hadn't deleted the junior school from my moby grrr
ds1 is ok btw!

On my first trip to the health clinic 2 mins from my house, i took just baby! She done a wee as soon as nappy opened, cried and my boobs leaked (forgot to put pads in after shower.

The hv said, "Darling you must remember now your a mother to never leave the house without the essentials" I walked hom feeling I had failed with bug wet patches on my top and child in wet nappy.... oh dear!

First ever journey from home in car with newborn ds1. Carefully strapped his carseat in and proceeded to lock him and car keys into to car! Police/ AA/ dh called home from work -it was like a street party. Needless to say ds1 slept peacefully through it all!

One day we were getting ready to go out (before we had a car) put DS in buggy and went sort out the changing bag, thought DH had strapped him, DH had thought I had strapped him in, pushed him out to the door, tipped the buggy to go out the door and DS fell out!! I felt awful!!
I have forgotten to strap DS in too, in the car, strapped the girls in, and get a tiny bit down the road and hear a a little voice saying "mummy you haven't strapped me in" Whoops!!

I went out with odd shoes on (majorly so one grey trainer and one black one ), someone at DS1's playgroup had to point it out to me, good job as I was just about to go into town!

Well i just brought my dsister some boots from mataland for her bday,as we dont live near to each other,I phoned up to see how she is getting on with them..
She said hasnt been out in them yet as wore them on her bday round house after a few celebratie drinks,and has hurt her ankle but didnt know how..

Today I got an email saying that she loves the boots but found out how she had hurt her ankle...
One boot is a size 5 while the other is a size 7..Who is more dosy after having a baby?Myself for buying different sizes or my sister for squeezing her foot in and not relising until yesterday that one was a size 5......I think I shall let you all deciede..

Oh the joys of children...

Sponge, I rushed out of the house today with all three kids for ds's swimming lesson and left the front door wide open and the back door unlocked. DH arrived home 15 mins later... . And the worst thing is, my youngest is 18mths so I can't even blame it on small baby slush brain.

Ive gone out wearing 2 skirts - got changed and forgot to take the other off! Also have forgotten to take my nightie off and wore it under my clothes all day.

when i first had dd i would do the same thing every time i needed to go out. take two hours to get ready to go out of the house and then sit and cry (and not go anywhere) because i had missed my appointment and couldnt work out why i couldnt get out of the house on time anymore!

We went to visit MIL in Spain and at her sugestion I used bottled water instead of tap one. After three days of bottle making I realised I was making them with the water my MIL removes from the drier and uses to iron which was full of some white slimmy things. Though it was not all my fault, my MIL was keeping that water in an old water bottle of the same brand.

When DD was a week old my parents took us out to lunch as they were heading back to the UK the next day. All the waitresses in the restaurant made all the right 'gooey' 'what a sweet baby' 'How old is she' type noises and I was suitably chuffed. As we left the waitress at the door held it open and peered into the pram and asked me dd's name. I opened my mouth to answer and my mind went a complete blank ... I completely forgot my baby's name ... I just looked at her and said, "I don't know!". What a prat.

And then there was the time a few weeks later when I took DD out of the car in her car seat. She was safely strapped in thank god because I hadn't 'clicked' the handle and the whole seat swivelled over and DD was hanging there like she was sky diving!

After this sort of posts now I understand the reason of manufacturers labels in the likes of "don't fold the pushchair while the baby is on it"

ROFLMAO...I'm SO glad I started this thread, as I don't feel nearly so stupid anymore. I must let DH read these, as he seems to think it's just me, and keeps patting me on the knee and saying 'bless' in the tone of voice usually reserved for the very elderly or very senile. Ghosty, I fell about laughing about you forgetting your baby's name! I forgot to add that when we went to the hospital I forgot the changing bag (like you Mammyshirl) and the nurse said to me to remove all my clothing to the waist. Pfft...I thought I was just going to have eye drops but she warned me that I would get very wet. I, too, had no spare breast pads, and had to suffer the indignity of laying there like an imbecile, having a litrwe of saline flushed through my eye, mascara running into my ear and a wad of padding under the gown to soak up the milk!

I've also bitten the top of a tube of superglue when applying false nails...bloody hard to unpeel your lip from your teeth

Ghosty - I did that aswell - forgot ds's name!! Was asked when he was a couple of weeks old at the baby weigh in session, by another Mum. All I could think was that he wasn't called ds1's name, but other than that it was a complete blank..!! She must have thought I was INSANE...

I can't believe I have just done what I have done.

I was making tomato soup for my DD, the pan was on the side next to the baby milk holder, I poured the soup all over the baby milk holder and not into the pan!!! What a mess!!!!

I am so glad I'm not the only one who forgot my baby's name! At the time I just said... "well me and .... er...... um.... the baby..." I felt so stupid! What a nightmare! I'll blame it all on DH though for his wrangling about names and us having to change our decision at the last minute... it has gotten me all confused
