Stupid/daft things you've done since becoming a mum

Today I nearly blinded myself! Had my mind on other things, was tired as DD was not sleeping well after having jabs, and I reached for my eye drops to refresh my poor shattered eyes. Dh wondered what on earth was going on when I stumbled out of the bathroom, dripping wet and wearing only a towel (had just had a shower) and screaming that my eye was burning. I had inadvertently put Clinique spot treatment gel into my eye instead, and spent all afternoon at A&E having my eye flushed out with saline! Now I have to suffer an almost-closed eye, bloodshot and oozing pus until the antibiotic cream that they gave me takes effect! What a plonker!

Thank you for all of these, was having crap dap, now am hysterical with laughter!!!!

When I had DD2, 6 wks old, the MW in hospital asked her name, as we were leaving. I replied Katie, which is not her name, but the name of DD1's dolly!!!! Luckily DH remembered as they checked her name tags....And I still call her that now!!

I used to be a holiday rep in Greece. One airport day, we received a message from Gatwick saying their would be a somewhat distraught Mother disembarking soon as she had left her baby under her chair in the departure lounge.

The baby was asleep and not found until the pilot radioed to ground to say there was a hysterical women demanding he turn the plane around.

When the woman arrived she was going mad saying she was going to sue the airline for not returning (a plane full of 200+ people) to Gatwick. She was a bit of a pikey and they do always want to sue someone but.......

it was YOU that left YOUR baby behind madam! Said baby was fine and entertaining the ground staff very well.

She then dissolved into tears and said it was to be expected as she hadn't had it (baby) long!! Poor dear.

BTW - She was also travelling with her husband!!

Ds was a few weeks old. Decided to go and put some more things into the recycling box which was waiting for the van on the kerb. Stepped outside. Door slammed because back door open. Ds sleeping inside, me climbing the wall outside. Thank God for dh and our neighbour for holding each other's keys.

but then before ds was born i once had the police knock on the door late at night and ask if i was all right. i thought it was a windup and said 'yes of course' - they then stepped aside to reveal my car parked on the drive with both doors wide open, and my keys in the outside of my door. i'd come home and unloaded my shopping while reading a trashy book...

Oh Blu - crunchy

Took DSs to school this morning, got back to the car after spending a while chatting in the playground about how tired I was (DD had a very bad night), and found I'd left the passenger door wide open.

I had remembered to lock the car though....?!

This happened a couple of years ago. I put DD and DS in car, waved to friend outside playgroup and drove off. Two hours later got call from playgroup leader asking if I had a grey three-wheeler pram, I said yes. She asked where it was, I said "in the boot of my car" and she said " are you sure? I think it's in the boot of my car". I had driven off and left my £350 pram on the pavement!! Luckily a kind person pushed it round to the playgroup where the leaders were just locking up and they found a picture with my daughter's name on it under the pram.

I was mortified, but relieved that DS wasn't still in it when I drove off. See, I remember the REALLY important things, the children!!!

I also left most of my shopping at Safeways once, and had to send DH back for it. I got the blame for it but he was actually WITH ME so technically we BOTH forgot it!

This wasn't me it was my dh. He'd come in from nights and ds2 was in his pram outside by the back door. I told him I was taking ds2 to the baby clinic, put said baby in the car and off I went. Dh fell asleep on the sofa, woke up about 30 mins later, saw the empty pram by the door and thought the baby had been stolen!! In a complete panic he called the police and when I pulled into the drive 15 mins later the street was full of boys in blue. Dh was very embarrased poor bloke but they were really nice - It'll teach him to listen when I'm talking to him!!

I'm asjamed to admit that this actually happened BC, but it's so stupid it deserves a place on the board. I went for lunch with my then DH, and as we left the pub, he (for some reason) decided to pretend he was drunk, and instead of opening the car door, he opened the boot instead and climbed in...(people were all staring). I thought it'd be even funnier to shut the boot on him, just for a moment. I didn't realise he had the only keys top the car in his pocket and was now locked in the boot with no way out!!!!! Took him ages to break the shelf above the boot and climb across the seats

would like to lock my DP in the boot sometimes though

twice now when I have phoned MIL, the voice at the end of the line isn't hers but my best friends mum she's like "is that you XXXXX" and I'm like "hello XXXX sorry but I didn't want to phone you" she is really nice and we end up having a chat but I feel so stupid their numbers are nothing alike!

I can always blame my hair colour!

After dropping the kids to the child minders one morning I decided to pop into the sweetshop before heading off to work. When I returned to the car I saw that the kids were missing (forgetting that they had already been dropped off)I started screaming that someone had taken my kids and called the police! 2 minutes later 3 police cars arrived during which time my brain decided to reactivate and I had to explain my dumb mistake!
