...and I'm too lazy to scroll down to the bottom to do a reply

Secur I'm just as bad as you, I can't bear seeing him grow up - I love the newborn stage but then I love this stage too, they're so squidgy and gorgeous .

Xena, you can carry on breastfeeding once you've started solids and stop whenever you want, whether that's at 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years...I tend to get pregnant as a method of stopping bf, although I don't plan to do that this time - fancy a bigger age gap. However have spooked myself by realising how old I'm going to be by the time I've had all these children and got them settled at school - eek.

MG, I have gained a smidgen or two (5lb) since my lowest post-baby weight. I have NO idea why this time, although massive quantities of chocolate, sweeties, cake, biscuits and bread from my new breadmaker might have something to do with it. Think I may have to swallow my pride (why not, I've eaten everything else) and go to something like WW or Slimming World, argh . oops have to run, no2 is screeching at me from above...

Wow Cavy, v impressive! I am weighing J down to avoid rolling incidents - when he starts being mobile I'll be in even more trouble.

Hey Xena I was a late-comer too- well Jan I think but certainly after the rest.

Lily has a stinking cold - wee sausage sounds like a pig seeking truffles when feeding. Absolutely no chance of her rolling - the width of thighs makes that a physical impossibility. DD1 didn't roll until very late (about 3 if I remember correctly ), in fact she was never very athletic at all. But boy could she talk - DD2 appears to be following the same trend!

Intrestingly enough the new 5-in-1 jab is available in Scotland and has been for the last 2 weeks. I had presumed it would be available UK-wide.

Lily is now on constant feeding mode, started waking during the night again (been sleeping through since about 8 weeks) and is munching every 2 hours ish during the day. How long would you except a 'growth spurt' to last?

DH away again and DD1 st Grannies so off for some peace and quiet. Take care all.

HI

We have had the 5 in 1 here too for the last 2 weeks, I am waiting foor Scotts final appointment to come through.
Had him weighed today he weighs 13lb 10oz, so even though I have added an extra ounze to each bottle and give him food occassionaly he is maintaining 3.5oz per week gain. He is sticking the 25th percentile.
Skara, is there anybody you can complain to re the health visitors attitude, they are there to help if you want it not to nag etc, well thats what I always thought. And aren't jabs up tp the parents anyway !!!! The silly cow.

My MIL annd NIL arrived this afternoon, got yto get through the next week!!!!!!!
Well take care all
x

hi all, no am just biding my time with the HV and will see how it goes next week when we meet [terrorising smiley].

My most exciting news...have just celebrated dh's new job with purchase of wildly expensive new e3 phil and ted snazzpushchair. It had better be suitable or else my whole family will never ever let me hear the end of it (it'll be my seventh pushchair ) Am selling the other two I have left on ebay tomorrow...

OP posts:
XenaWP · 14/10/2004 23:12

wow, had never heard of phil and ted, but just looked on eBay and..
WOW
the double one is almost enough to make me jump dp tonight

monkeygirl · 14/10/2004 23:20

Hi all! I've been trying to cut back on my hogging the thread but I have been lurking for a change - hee hee.

I'm very impressed by the activity level of the babies. A did roll about 3 times before 8 weeks but has never done it since and seems to have forgotten how to!

I've also succombed to weaning already . A has been having 4 bottles of 8 ozs, and 2 or 4 bfs as well and only going about 3 hours between feeds (sometimes hardly that). And he cries when he finishes his milk! So thought it was time to go down that road. I must say that he was unimpressed with both the baby rice and apple so I may actually stop again for a few days.

He has become screaming baby this past week. It's not a distress call, it seems to be very much an attention-seeking 'here I am' thing. As much as I love him it's beginning to get on my nerves so I'm hoping it's a phase that will pass quickly! But he still manages to beam a smile to any strangers that poke their head in his buggy.

Karen - what exactly is MSN chat - do you just 'meet' with friends or is it a huge community?

Skara - I have also had another home visit from the lovely HVs. I'm sure they'll be on my tail soon cos I didn't go get him weighed as they requested. But he has had all 3 of his jabs now. The last one was a 5-in-1 and it was the one he reacted the worst to - not a temp but very very grumpy and tearful for about 24 hrs. He may also be teething - loads of dribble and really in pain I think for short periods. Well that's what I hope it is!

Anyway we are off for a weekend jaunt to the Cotswolds.

See y'all!

monkeygirl · 14/10/2004 23:22

Hi XenaWP!

Gomez - also meant to say glad dd is ok now (did post on your other thread to say same thing). Oh those damn growth spurts. They say they last 2/3 days but can be up to a week! Thank the Lord the next one isn't until 6 months now is it??

cathncait · 15/10/2004 03:01

hi again, thought I'd better get a word in now before monkeygirl takes over again - just kidding MG, if it wasn't for you imagine how quiet and unmotivated we'd be!
Well Grace is going along quite nicely - weighed in at 7 1/2 kg the other day so is quite a fatty. (I love all those baby rolls!). She was 16 weeks old yesterday - i can't believe its gome so fast. She is such a happy smiling baby. Really lovely .
She still is't seeping through - one day. Wakes for only one feed usually and then seems to get up around 7 most days. DD1 usued to wake up at 5.30 when she was this age and there wasn't much I could do about it (maybe she was older? its all a bit of a vague memory now).
Well our extra room is officially usuable today. There is a man laying carpet out there now as we speak and then all the mountains of crap in my tiny little house will be promptly transferred out there (its seperate to the house). Then I can have my room back and Grace will be on her own. I feel a little straange about that having had her so close to me for what seems like so long. In some ways I think I will miss being able to look up and just see her little face while she sleeps. Now I will have to get out of bed! .
Congratulations on your new pushchair Skara. Sounds like a beauty! Lets hope you do like it! .
Karen - I have added you to my msg and anyone else who wants to add me I am... zetaholmes at hotmail.com.
What happened to the photobucket thingy too? It seems to be gone - is that right or is it just me?
As for growth spurts - I am convinced that G has been having one for the last 2 months! I wish it was that simple - thats when she went from sleeping 8-9 hours a night to 6-7 never to return. So I blame growth spurts - Oh well. (or teeth has to be one or the other!ha ha).
Anyway, better leave some room here for someone else.
Talk again soon

cathncait · 15/10/2004 03:04

Oh and jsut in case you think I am getting carpet laid at 3am - its 10am here

Gomez · 15/10/2004 09:06

Thanks Monkeygirl - She is still poorly to be fair and starting to wheeze a bit. Not sure if it is all the snot sitting on her chest or if something else is actually going on there. I must admit to being a bit paranoid now as DD1 had bronchitis at about 8 months, which we thought was just a bad cold until she was admitted to Sick Kids . We will just keep an eye on her - heading off for a walk soon as a bit fresh air will do her good I think.

Aside from that not a lot really happening. DD1 now of Nursery for 2 weeks. deep joy! But she is staying with Granma and then Gran next week and we are away the week after so actually quite looking forward to it.

Right of for that walk and then a nice hot choccie!

Take care all,

karen01 · 15/10/2004 18:44

MG- It is just a chat room where you speak to people on your contact list. My DH has told me you need to install the latest version which is 6.2. This can be done via the internet or if you give me your email I can send you an invite which you can accept and it will install it for you. I use it to speak to my friends and family in the UK, we also have the web cam set up so that they can see the children etc as we type.

MIL and NIL arrived safely on wednesday, but last night NIL who is 87 decided to take herself to the toilet in the middle of the night and fell down the stairs and split her head open, so we had to call the paramedics oput at 1.30 this morning, then we had to take her to the medical centre this morning so that they could check her out. She is still a bit lathargic but all her vital signs were strong which is good. She is becoming more alert each time she wakes up, which is good. Not sure how I am going to cope with the next week as I am not really feeling that hot myself, I have been feeling myself drop again, am trying not to go back onto the antidepressants.

Gomez hope Lily gets better soon.

have a good weekend everybody.

karen01 · 17/10/2004 15:45

NIL was admitted into hospitalt last night, she has a double brain heamorage (SP) caused by the flight they think this is what caused the fall the other night. She is in intensive care, and they are operating tommorrow morning in Nicossia hospital (2hrs away) Am trying to be strong for everyone but not doing a very good job I am trying to carry on as normal with Nicole and Scott, whilst DH and MIL are to and fro from the hospital, all we can do now is wait.!! . Think I am going to go back on the anti depressants to get me though this so I can be stong for DH. FIL and MIL sister are flying out on wednesday as couldn't get an earlier flight.

karen01 · 17/10/2004 15:48

Tommorow is also DH birthday not sure what to do!!!

karen01 · 18/10/2004 13:17

The bleeding has stopped in NIL brain and they are going to do some tests to see if she has any brain damage. If it is all clear they are going to try and take her of the sedation and ventilator, to see how she copes. Hopefully all will go well, if all is well they are transfering her back to Larnaca tommorrow which is only 30mins away, then we can start arrangements to get her back to the uk.

I have alos gone back on the Prozac, hopefully will only need them for a few months.

throckenholt · 18/10/2004 13:45

Karen - just peaked in to see what was going on in here - I am sorry your NIL is so ill - I hope things sort themselves out soon.

monkeygirl · 18/10/2004 17:11

Oh Karen, so sorry to hear about your NIL. How is she now and how are you? Hopefully she will recover and you can do a double celebration with dh. I guess you didn't want to go back on the ADs? I don't know much about them but hope they are helping and that you are getting lots of support.

Take care.
xx

karen01 · 19/10/2004 07:37

NIL has been off the life support machine now for 15hrs, she just needs oxygen. She still isn't awake but is responding to commands well. When they are asking her to lift up her right arm/ or lg she is doing it 95% of the time. She certainly is a tough little cookie. Her condition has now dropped from critical to serious, which is good. Hopefully she will keep on fighting. The atmosphere in the house is alot better now. Everyone at home in UK keeps phoning and checking on her and telling us they feel for the three of us going through this. But as I said it has happened and if it wasn't us with her it would have been someone else!!. I will let you all know how we get ontoday, we are stilll waiting to here confirmation of the transfer.

monkeygirl · 19/10/2004 09:52

Karen, that sounds hopeful. Hope you are coping ok and looking after yourself as well. Let us know how you get on.
xx

Cavy · 19/10/2004 13:50

Sorry to hear about your NIL (is that your husband's Nan, then?), Karen.

MG -- I also have a screamer. But I'm used to it now, didn't your other ones scream, too? Mine did, but my childminder was a little alarmed, so I guess her 2 girls didn't either.

Even though I'm pretty much my normal size, I still have a flabby tummy & I really want to lose it! I'm thinking about swimming, the gym or something...

N.hasn't rolled since last week, maybe it was a fluke? He had a drink of water the other day, and will get some Calpol before his jabs tomorrow, but so far, so good, I'm keeping with exclusive breastfeeding pretty well for me.

monkeygirl · 19/10/2004 18:02

Cavy - no, dd1 never did the screaming thing! Heard someone else's baby doing it recently so I'm glad it's not just mine - must be a normal stage I guess. Good news is he hasn't 'asked' for a night feed for 4 nights now so, fingers crossed, I can consider that dropped now. But it has meant that I have stopped bfing which actually I don't feel sad about. I celebrated by abusing my body this Saturday with food and drink.

Have to go cos dd1 is insisting on sitting on my lap and trying to press buttons.

karen01 · 20/10/2004 11:05

Yes Cavy it is y husbands nan.

She is being trf to larnaca this morning which is good. Things are looking better everyday.

secur · 20/10/2004 16:05

monkeygirl · 21/10/2004 11:12

Karen hope NIL is better and that you too are feeling ok.

Btw, is it just you and me weaning then? A hated baby rice (as did dd1) but loves apple and pear - only see his mouth open so wide when he's screaming! I shall be trying carrot today. But I can confirm that it has so far made no difference to his sleep patterns. Yesterday was great, the night before was not so great. But he still does not want milk at night - hooray! He is also at the grab anything at all within arm's length stage but I did catch dh letting him chew some newspaper - silly so-and-so (dh not ds).

cathncait · 23/10/2004 14:17

Hi - haven't been able to get to a computer for the last week due to moving everything in the house all around so didn't see what was happening with you Karen. I really hope evrything is going better and that you are coping okay. Don't feel down on yourself for going back to the Prozac. If you had a headache you would take paracetamol (whatever you call it there) and if you are having problems coping do what you need to get through. You will come out on top again. Hang in there.
EVerything is going well here. Not weaning yet - am going to wait until 6 months as I did with dd1 - unless G shows signs of wanting it sooner (she isn't yet).
MG - good for you not needing to feed at night! A step towards normality again!
