...and I'm too lazy to scroll down to the bottom to do a reply

Secur I'm just as bad as you, I can't bear seeing him grow up - I love the newborn stage but then I love this stage too, they're so squidgy and gorgeous .

Xena, you can carry on breastfeeding once you've started solids and stop whenever you want, whether that's at 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years...I tend to get pregnant as a method of stopping bf, although I don't plan to do that this time - fancy a bigger age gap. However have spooked myself by realising how old I'm going to be by the time I've had all these children and got them settled at school - eek.

MG, I have gained a smidgen or two (5lb) since my lowest post-baby weight. I have NO idea why this time, although massive quantities of chocolate, sweeties, cake, biscuits and bread from my new breadmaker might have something to do with it. Think I may have to swallow my pride (why not, I've eaten everything else) and go to something like WW or Slimming World, argh . oops have to run, no2 is screeching at me from above...

Karen - so glad it worked out ok. Hopefully your relationship will be on the up now. Do you have other people to help you when dh is not there then? I get panicky when I have to do bathtime by myself still. If dh is going out I beg him to go afterwards. Can't wait until ds can sit up as theis will make it all easier.

Secur - oops .But getting extra sleep was probably worth it. We all had a terrible night last night. Ds has a cold and was snorting like a pig and restless so no-one got much sleep! Dh and I also have sore throats.

My bad mummy confession is that I was knackered this morning but still drove dd to school (although it's only about a mile). I hate driving when tired and am getting worried about this Friday as we will be going up to Norfolk and am praying that I do get some decent sleep.

karen01 · 21/09/2004 11:49

MG- re bath times mother care sell a big baby sponge like thing, I used one for both DD and DS as I hate holding babies in the bath. I think it cost £7 (well worth the money if you ask me). You just lie the baby on the sponge then you have both hands free. Scott lies on it for 10-15mins at a time and has enjoyed bath times since day 1.

MG - No I don't have any one around to help in that sense, as I don't really know anyone when I say friends aquaintences would be more appropriate. People have offered to have Scott for a little it to give me a break , but I don't really trust them that much yet, and as he is sleeping so well I don't really need the break as such, aslong as I get my me time on a night before I go to bed, then I can sit and think. It is mainly the company on the afternoon and night that I am missing. ( They only work till 1pm here and that is when DD finishes school)

One of the girls are popping over tonight, her stuff has all just arrived from the UK and she has some Tarrott cards so she is going to read mine tonight.

I was hoping to have a few glasses of wine, but now I am on the antibiotics I can't. Think when they havve finished and DH gets back I will have to have a few drinks (in the last 6-7wks I have had a about 4 barcardie and cokes and 2 white wine spritzers!!)

Hi all. Here i am at SIL's & am going mad... she's lovely, but a fusser. I 'm knackered, just want to rest and chill. she's told me 4 times I should let her do a feed. I've told her 4 times I'd love her to do one, but I don't have enough milk expressed yet, but will have tomorrow. Now she's reminding me about the feed tomorrow... she asks how she can help, usually when am feeding or so tired can't think straight, then walks off whilst am telling her what would help. AARRGGH. she's being so kind & is driving me nuts. and MIL is just being quiet - which you'd think i'd be happy about, but just makes me suspicious as usually means she's hurt or upset. OMG this is meant to be relaxing. They've just taken dd off for the afternoon, which is kind, & I screamed when they drove off to realease tension. blimey. off for a kip.
yes - i sound v ungrateful, i'm not, but they're trying so hard to be helpful, it's exhausting & not helpful at all! IYSWIM.

I am at the MIL/SIL's this weekend and although I like them and am looking forward to it I can't stand the fussing either. They keep phoning with 'good' ideas. I also know they'll be those 'loaded' silences when I bottle-feed and use a dummy (no I don't particularly care but wish they'd talk about it instead of giving me the silent treatment. Makes me dig my heels in and not explain the situation, I just want to say he's my baby and I'll do it my way, as Sinatra so beautifully put it)

Rant over.

Off to face kids for the final session/getting into bed and then hope I'm not too tired to dye my greying hair!

monkeygirl · 22/09/2004 10:15

Karen - meant to say thanks for the link to bath seat. Can you just leve him on it without worrying about him rolling off then?

We have a lurgy in the house. DD was up several times with tummy ache and sore throat which I've also got. Feeling very sorry for myself.

Ironically whilst dd was coming into out room all night ds did nearly 10 hours in one stretch. He's definitely different today, can't quite put my finger on it, just a lot happier and smiley and even went to sleep this morning without his dummy. Hope it lasts!

karen01 · 22/09/2004 13:37

MG- Scott is nt rolling yet, so not sure although he does kick that hard that he works his way off the bottom but I just lift him back up, but he does roll his head and half of his face ends in the water he soon moves his head, back. I will be keeping Scott in/on his until he is ready for a sit up bath seat.

Hope this helps

monkeygirl · 23/09/2004 16:45

Still have lurgy but it is getting slowly better. I'm praying that the kids don't get it (they seem to have had some version but not the really bad one so hopefully they'll be ok???).

Our bumbo came this morning! Ds looked surprised when put in it and did smile so hopefully it will be a good investment as I need something to take to friend's houses (he doesn't like his car seat particularly).

Tomorrow we're off to MIL's and then Centerparcs so won't be back on-line until next weekend-ish.

Have a good week all!

XenaWP · 28/09/2004 08:43

durr - only just realised that was what Vict had posted. I wondered why she was telling us to stay at home....

Gomez · 29/09/2004 09:48

Hello,

Quiet without MonkeyGirl huh!

Karen hope you and DH are having fun together.
And Xena did you get very drunk on Saturday?

Hope all is well - we are not too bad. I was in bed last week with what is thought to be gallstones and have now developed the dreaded lurgy. DH ended up with a chest infection and unable to breath so I am hoping I will just get a runny nose and a bit of a sore throat.

Catalogue of disasters as well - telly blew up, head of Dyson broke and now bl**dy fridge/freezer is dodgy and ALL my EBM has been binned. I am gutted - all that expressing for nowt. Also Lily has woken up during the night for the last few days - having slept all night for weeks now. Hoping just one of those growth spurts I hear so much about and it will stop, quite commone at 16 weeks is it not?

Right I am going to go before I manage to bore everyone into as good a mood as me.

Take care.

Skara · 30/09/2004 13:39

Hi all,
seem to be useless at getting on the pc at the moment - I love having three children but it is sooooooooo much more time consuming than 2 [frazzled smiley - if there was one!]. I can't get on here in the daytime cos no2 child goes on a one-boy wrecking mission if I do, then in the evening by the time I've done bed bath dinner then sorted out J then we've eaten dinner it's all I can do to hit the active conversations link...actually stringing a sentence together is beyond me . Glad to hear I'm not alone on the 16 week growth spurt Gomez cos I am knackered - he's been up loads in the last 3 nights and even though all I have to do is roll over fatly and feed him , it's still disturbed sleep and I feel like a zombie just now because of it. He is lovely though and still very easy and no trouble. I remembered today I was meant to be putting him on his tummy (bad mother alert) and when I did he's doing lovely little head-ups! (Like pressups but less effort, definitely his mother's son ).
Now that the unheard of has happened and I have one at school and two asleep - gasp - I'm off to make a cup of tea and drink it all, whilst hot, without wiping any noses or bottoms or refereeing any arguments or putting on videos or flushing potty contents down the loo...

Hello all! Gomez - always suspected I hogged this thread a wee bit too much . The April and May lot put us to shame!

Well we had a great time at CP. The villas are pretty ugly but functional but the setting was great. DD1 loved the fact that a gaggle of ducks used to come up to our patio and we often saw rabbits and pheasants roaming around. The swimming pool was fantastic! I am very self-conscious about being such a blob atm but even I braved it and went in with ds who seemed to quite like being pushed around in his seat.

Ds also laughed properly for the first time this week and slept so well at CP and at MILs - I'm feeling very gooey about him cos he has been so good and very happy and smiley. DD was much harder work - she can be fun but boy can she whinge for England sometimes. She went to her first disco though and I felt really teary cos she looked so grown up as she danced around.

Anyway back to reality for me. I need to go to Tesco's - sigh - and do some chores. Note to self - must save up and try and get away more.

monkeygirl · 02/10/2004 13:07

Oh yeah Gomez - I think Alex went through his 15/16 week growth spurt but it was relatively painless. Sounds like you have been having a nightmare! When have you got that holiday planned?

Gomez · 02/10/2004 22:31

Hi MG - pleased you enjoyed CP. We went last October when I was just PG - DD1 & DH had a ball! And I was sick a lot .

I have managed to book a few days at Auchrannie Spa on Arran, last week in October. Kinda compromise as I have got lots of treatments booked. There is also a kiddies pool and softplay and of course Arran itself is gorgeous and good for lots of outdoorsy (??) fun. Which I am sure DH and the girls will love as I am masaged/smoothed/detoxed etc.. . Well I might join them on the beach occasionally.

Had a good day with some friends today at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh and then a rip-off tea in TGI Fridays. DH is out for a few beers tonight and then off tomorrow afternoon until Thursday . So I am enjoying a few glasses of vino before heading up to read my book.

L. had her first injection yesterday (the new 5-in-1) and has been very good. Slept quite a bit but that is not necessarily a bad thing! Was also weighed yesterday, 18lb 13 oz so continuing on her big girl path without deviation. And the clever girl has also stopped waking up again, so back to perfect baby mode!

Right of to have a nose around some of the boards and then off to bed.

Take care all.

Ooh nearly forgot, weighed myself and am now nearly 1 stone lighter than pre-pregancy. Most chuffed! Just need to keep BF for the next 18 months or so and might even be almost slim .

monkeygirl · 04/10/2004 10:11

Well I have two early New Year resolutions. 1) less time on MN (oops, I'm on here already.) 2) actually lose some weight insted of putting it on. Gomez I'm re your weight loss - well done! I am desperate now as my back is really giving way and I'm sure I'd feel less tired if I was fitter. So far so good today but the rain might scupper my plan to go for a long walk.

Well A decided to have a terrible night last night - don't know why. I hope it's got nothing to do with the fact that I've now moved his cot away from the bed as it's rather nice being able to climb into and out of bed normally now instead of stumbling about over dh. He's also discovered how to shout and shriek recently. Which is nice. DD couldn't wait to be on the move whilst ds seems desperate to talk.

Gomez - holiday sounds good. The one regret I have about CP is not booking dd into the creche as it would have been nice to go for a walk at faster than 0.0000000000001 miles per hour. Enjoy that time to yourself!

XenaWP · 05/10/2004 15:10

Gomez, I too am greener than green about your weight loss. I'd always heard BF made you lose weight, but somehow it's struggling against the mounds of food I'm scoffing. Went and tried on some tops today in vain attempt to have something that fits without being huge, I gave up at the XL & exited the shop, vowing to return 'when I'm thinner'.

am also jealous of you spa ladies, all sounds lovely. we just had a week of seeing a set of friends near Grantham then drove down to Fowey in Cornwall (no, I didn't check the distances before I arranged it...) and as Ava was in the room with us all the time & wakes happily chatting to herself in the wee small hours before dropping off for more kip, am feeling somewhat frazzled.

Just feeling v tired all the time at the mo', might be anaemic, not sure. I remember energy, I had some once.
