Do you kiss your child on the lips?

I'm just wondering - do most parents kiss their child on the lips?

What are your thoughts on this? Opinion seems to be divided from what I see!

As I made those gorgeous lips I kiss them!!
Not once have any of my dc accused me of invading their personal space!!
Teens ds's it's been kisses on the cheeks prob since secondary school - at their choosing - no conversation just a last min offer up of a cheek instead!!
Dd 11 still lips but dd 12 usually a cheek now! Ds 3 still lavishes them on my lips and vice versa.

I kiss on lips without thinking about it most if the time - DS is 4 . He is so kissy and affectionate. He started school today and i was very self concious and kissed him on the head - thinking he is a big boy now but not really feeling it Sad

no and I would have been grossed out if my parents had done it to me.

Yes. Totally normal. It’s a peck!

Lolly86 · 10/09/2018 17:15

Yes I kiss DD 4 on the lips, cheek, head etc when she first want me to I'll stop

FranticallyPeaceful · 10/09/2018 17:15

I would LOVE to kiss my kids on the lips but I never have. I’m worried I’ll give them cold sores. I’ve had cold sores before which means I carry the virus so I’m always paranoid I’d pass it to them.
I have a baby and honestly can’t tell you how much I want to kiss his perfect little soft lips! But I just give nosey rubs and kiss his face instead

Citylivingwithdogs · 10/09/2018 17:17

Frantically I think you can only pass on the cold sore virus if you have an active cold sore.

pinkmummy1 · 10/09/2018 17:18

I don't see how people think this is a problem. I kiss my 18 month old everyday on the lips, I also kiss her toes and bellybutton and anywhere els i want. She's my baby and I made her. It's only creepy when people judge and make it creepy.

FranticallyPeaceful · 10/09/2018 17:19

@Citylivingwithdogs I was told sometimes it can be active without showing straight away. It’s made me super paranoid

upsideup · 10/09/2018 17:19

Kiss all my kids on the lips still, eldest dd is 23.

Lollypop701 · 10/09/2018 17:19

Yes . Mine are 15 ds and 12 dd. All fine

Mumof4under10 · 10/09/2018 17:22

We always do and dd who's 3 insists on we make a fish face to kiss Smile

DaisysStew · 10/09/2018 17:24

Of course, he gets really offended if I kiss his cheek and says “Kisses are for lips”. He’s only 3 and I’m sure at some point in the future he’ll be too “cool” to kiss his mum on the lips so I’m making the most of it while he’s still small 😘.

Oddcat · 10/09/2018 17:24

I love a fish face kiss

zen1 · 10/09/2018 17:24

No, it just wouldn’t feel right to me. I guess because my parents never kissed me on the lips either. Love kissing their cheeks though.

HailSatan · 10/09/2018 17:25

My kids have always wanted kisses on the lips. Not going to say no. If I had a kid who didn't want me too them I wouldn't. Simple as that really

abitoflight · 10/09/2018 17:28

No not even as babies

SleepFreeZone · 10/09/2018 17:30

We all have the coldsore virus unfortunately so no, no kissing on the lips here.

Ruleof4 · 10/09/2018 17:30

I kiss my daughters but DH doesn't! Both the girls know only ever to kiss me on the lips

Frogscotch7 · 10/09/2018 17:32

I don’t but they kiss me on the lips. It’s all very slobbery and I’ll be quite happy when they grow out of it.

Oddcat · 10/09/2018 17:32

I guess it's how you were brought up yourself and there's no right or wrongs , but a lovely baby breath kiss on the lips was one of my favourite things - not so much when she stuck her tongue out though Grin

sonlypuppyfat · 10/09/2018 17:34

It's only a peck on the lips, it's lovely. There's no snogging involved

Kidssendingmenuts · 10/09/2018 17:37

Course I do! My daughter gets kissed on the lips by me all the time and she loves it, my son hates kisses on the lips though and always says I have girl germs (he's 5) but will allow me to kiss him on the cheeks 😂😂

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/09/2018 17:40

Yes I do. DS1 is 11yo and kisses both me and his baby brother on the lips.

confusedandemployed · 10/09/2018 17:41

Of course! She's so edible.
