Just that really. For those of you who have been outside most of the day, how many times have you applied suncream/sunblock to your lo's?

Twice: once after breakfast and again after afternoon naps. Interested to hear what others do.

Jenijena · 07/05/2018 20:30

Twice here, once in the morning, and then again before a trip to the park. Most of the day in a very shaded garden. I even got my 2 year old to wear a hat for some of it...

(Not an advert, but I use solar buddies - makes applying much easier and stress free...)

CMOTDibbler · 07/05/2018 20:31

Once - we use P20 so he put it on at 10.30 after a shower and it's effective for 10 hours. I did the same and although I am ridiculously fair I'm not burnt, and we were out in the sun cycling all three days of the weekend

Around 4 times today but dd was in and out of the water most of the day and started to look red.

Doje · 07/05/2018 20:33

Twice here too. 1st lot before going out, about 10am, and then again after lunch. They did manage to wear hats from midday onwards, and came in for lunch and tea.

Spudlet · 07/05/2018 20:35

Twice. First thing and then a top-up at lunchtime as we'd been outside and he was looking a little pink (alhough just because he was hot and bothered). He napped through the hottest part of the day, and also had long sleeves on for part of the day (we went for a bike ride and he's very exposed on the bike). We went to the shop this afternoon so he wasn't outdoors until we got back, or else he'd have had a post-nap top-up too.

We are pasty gingers though and must be well slathered, sleeved and enhatted, lest we crisp to a frazzle!

Once at around 10.30. Let them get a bit of sun on their skin in the morning before it was too strong. Subcream (factor 30)/shade/hats/uv suits during the time when the sun is strongest. Youngest also napped for around 90mins around midday. Would have reapplied around 2pm were we in direct sunlight but he garden was very shady by then and the sun not as strong. Neither have fair skin and neither are burnt or even tanned.

SocksRock · 07/05/2018 20:38

Every 2 hours. But skin in our family goes white-freckly-BURNT TO A FUCKING CRISP so I take no chances.

IamPickleRick · 07/05/2018 20:38

Three times. I’m paranoid. And then he decided he liked it so got the cream off the table and gave himself a good rub down.... including his eyes. So he’s had it five times, the final layer thicker than my carpet.

MollyDaydream · 07/05/2018 20:38

Twice - all day stuff first thing, but I reapplied on their faces around 3.30 as they'd been sweaty, got wet etc.

cookielove · 07/05/2018 20:39

Once in the morning and then again a couple hours later but only on his cheeks!

Racheyg · 07/05/2018 20:40

Three times. Dcs were out in the garden all day in and out of the paddling pool.

It's a 24 hr cream but noticed they were looking a little red.

welshweasel · 07/05/2018 20:41

I use once a day stuff on all of us including the 2 year old. We all had it on before going out things morning and the toddler had a top up after lunch because he’d been in the water all morning and rolling on the grass. Was probs unnecessary though. He also had a rash vest and hat on.

RoseMartha · 07/05/2018 20:42

Twice

Flutist · 07/05/2018 20:44

Twice, and he was mostly in the pram or under an umbrella. On another note, if anyone knows how to get those orange suncream stains out of clothes I'd love to know!

Prusik · 07/05/2018 20:45

None. Both boys have been in and out all day. Neither have particularly been in the son. Neither of the boys are pink

Brokenbiscuit · 07/05/2018 20:46

Twice. I have much fairer skin than she does, and burn much more easily, and I'm not burnt, so I reckon twice was enough.

onemouseplace · 07/05/2018 20:47

Twice, once before we left for our day out, and reapplied just after lunch when they changed into swim things for the water play area where we were.

GreedyVegan · 07/05/2018 20:48

Twice, but after 1 our patio is in shade (we have 12 foot fence both sides and it backs onto trees and woods).

tentontruck · 07/05/2018 20:49

Three times. Factor 50, and in the shade a fair bit and DD has still gone a bit brown. I worry a lot about it as I had a melanoma removed last year and both DCs are becoming very moley.

TittyGolightly · 07/05/2018 20:50

None. We were in a forest this morning (dappled shade), shops at lunch time, indoors from 2-5pm and then in the garden in half shade half sun.

Threeminis · 07/05/2018 20:52

Twice, but I have ginger hair... I burn so easily.
Luckily the dc's have taken after dh and don't burn anywhere near as bad (if at all) as I do so they're absolutely fine!
I was out for an hour and a half on Saturday morning and ended up burnt to a crisp!

m0therofdragons · 07/05/2018 20:53

Once. Spent morning inside then drove to the beach, had picnic but with hats and long sleeves then put them in swim suits and applied sun cream. No sign of burning.

lornathewizzard · 07/05/2018 20:56

Twice, we were out from about 2, I reapplied it an hour or so into our walk. And yes yes yes to Solar Buddies, so much easie

HappyLollipop · 07/05/2018 20:57

Twice once in morning and again later in the afternoon as my son is only 9mo so I prefer to be the safe side although hes black but he's much lighter than me as my DP is mixed.
