Have you got 3 children?

What's it like? Is it that much different from 2? Why did you decide to have 3? Do you have anytime for yourself? Are you permenantly tired?

Just a few of my questions about having 3! I am so undecided!

Me too Clary - I'll be ironing the uniform in the morning though! Not organised enough to do 10 shirts in one go. Trousers and pinafore are fine but those damn polo shirts HAVE to be ironed!

I had one of each and people thought I was mad having a third. As if one of each is the perfect thing!

I am ttc no 4, so 3 must be fine! despite small house and holidays in the UK.

BallsOfChocolate · 21/03/2007 23:15

Irioning uniform is a worse waste of electricity - there is at least some point to drying childrens' clothes, but flattening them - what for?

I have 2 and BF has 1 so at weekends I have 3 - does that count?

Ive always wanted lots of children so I get 3 as a BOGOF as I didnt have to give birth or carry the eldest

so I have
DSD 9
DS 4
DD 2

hard but interesting

and my RL best friend has said she is cos we are such a great family unit

BallsOfChocolate · 21/03/2007 23:38

Honest injuns - my kids clothes don't look creased - I use fabric conditioner and fold them neatly. I also loathe ironing.

fussymummy · 22/03/2007 00:05

I found a big difference going from 2-3 children.

Found 2 easy and stupidly thought baby no 3 would just slot in!!!!

Thing i find hardest now is being able to give each one the same amount of quality time.

Mine are: DS 8.11 years, DD1 6.1 years and DD2 is 3.8 years.

Find i get more time now because youngest is in nursery every morning.

Tired most of the time, but thats because i stay up far too late!!

My ironing always gets done every day.

I usually do at least 3 wash loads a day and then just iron it all in one go. Including all the kids clothes!

Clary · 22/03/2007 07:51

Ballsofchoc I thought that too after I had posted, re waste of electricity.

But ironing the kids stuff takes such a short time. I emptied my overflowing ironing basket last night in an hour and a bit and only about 20 mins was the kids' stuff.

I don't like them looking creased - and believe me, they would if I didn't iron. Can't use conditioner because of DD excema.

PC about no washing line, what a nightmare.

Anna8888 · 22/03/2007 08:18

No ironing of boys' (9, 11) clothes in this household - they all get tumbled (no garden, airing cupboard or radiators in this flat) and hung out on hangers to finish off. I don't think I even like the look of their t-shirts and jeans ironed.

And I have someone in on Monday morning to iron all the rest (me, daughter, partner) and I LOVE IT...

dingdongjustforyoufg · 22/03/2007 08:25

I have 2, but they are twins...is that too cute? I am too scared to have more in case its twins again

Twiglett · 22/03/2007 08:26

"2 is wanky " oh we have a boy and a gilr " wanky nuclear family"

3 of the same sex is totally crap .. patently obvious you were aiming for one of the opposite sex .. what a shame .. poor you

ROFL .. insulting enough for you cod ?

coopster · 22/03/2007 08:27

Having number 3 in Oct. DD 3.3 & DS1. Can't wait for number 3 to arrive but must admit am worried about practicalities such as what sort of car can you get 3 car seats in the back. We've got two Britax seats in back at the moment and there is really no room for a 3rd seat. Anyone got any ideas?

ghosty · 22/03/2007 08:28

Every single person I know who has 3 looks knackered and says they wish they just had 2.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 08:29

three is very working class. you should keep your legs closed after two. dear God, next thing you will shop in Tesco.

MintChocChippyMinton · 22/03/2007 08:29

coopster you can get two britax freeways and a rockatot in the back of a mondeo estate. britax fit-finder , very helpful.

Quick question (not that I am planning any more babies right now or possibly ever thankyouverymuch) - if you start off with one of each... how do the dynamics work when you end up with 2 & 1?

If my next was a boy, would DD be the older sibling and the only girl so left out?

Or if it was a girl, would DS be this middle child stuck inbetween giiiiiiiiiiiiiirls?

Or do they all merge nicely?!?!

tbh I'm still getting my head round not having two girls so the idea of trying to work out how a 3rd would slot in baffles me.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 08:35

four is acceptable, for the ..erm..bohemian types. the ones whose mothers did Art degrees darling.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 08:37

flamse sparrow i have twins B?G and an elder boy - when they were younger dd was left out.

ghosty · 22/03/2007 08:39

Flamesparrow ... you could go slowly mad if you think about it too much. Whatever place in the family a child ends up in is the way it will be - the only way they know ... they slot in because it is all about family ... you slot in don't you?

Don't worry about it ... either have another baby or don't ...

I say this because when DD was born I had a few days of being in a tailspin about DS and his reaction, thinking I had ruined his life by giving him a sister and he and I would never be the same again, the dynamics of our home would change etc etc.
DH told me to get a grip. His words were, "Having a sibling is a fact of life, whether DS ends up being one of two, 4, 8 or 10 children he will just have to get on with it and adjust"

He was right really.

CODalmighty · 22/03/2007 08:39

do peopel say they wisht hey ahd tow?
relaly?
lord what odd people you know.

i admit tiwg one of the MAIN reasons i thought of NOT havign three was that peopel woud think i wanted a girl

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW to girls hair, horses and ballet and shite

tortoiseSHELL · 22/03/2007 08:41

We have boy girl boy, and it works really well - Ds1 and dd adore each other, they are best friends, and play like twins - tbh I think they work better than if dd was the elder, because she is definitely more grown up than ds1 was at 3, so the 25 month gap feels much smaller. She also really 'mothers' ds2 who is 10 months - she is able to really look after him and keep him happy while I'm on MN.

My only worry is that ds2 won't 'slot' into their games - he's never really going to catch them up (he's 2 3/4 years younger than dd and nearly 5 years younger than ds1), so I think we will have to have another!!!

CODalmighty · 22/03/2007 08:43

tbh i think yours get on so wll cos of their complementary peronslities
ds1 is very patiend with ds3
ds2 is coola dn good enough at s[prt to be of interest to ds1 and ds3 is mad as a mad hting

tortoiseSHELL · 22/03/2007 08:43

Cod - my dd is into firefighters, gymnastics, swimming and cookery!!!

Have to admit it was lovely not having the 'are you trying for a girl' comments when pg with ds2, and also not having people think I'd be disappointed with one. I just got the 'you'll have your hands full' comments!

Incidentally, my mum got the comment 'Never mind dear, you'll have a boy next time' when I (the eldest) was born a girl. From her MIL...
