How often do you check your DCs

Just interested to know how many times people check their LOs once they are in bed & how old are they?

I have DD who is 22 months & I have always been an avid checker! She is asleep by 7pm id say I check her about 3-4 times before I'm in bed for 11pm.

If I wake up randomly in the night I always do then too

DC are 8 and 11 and I return to check on them the same now! Plus I love watching them sleeping

I check all my children - 2 teenagers and a toddler just once when I am going to bed but I have the baby monitor on the toddler all night (sound only monitor). I wouldn't want to wake him by continuously going into his room.

I have light sleepers. I go into the baby (8months) only if he wakes up in the evening. He still sleeps in our room.
I only check on the three year old not long after he goes to sleep. He wakes up if I go in later!

9&5 I might check once in the evening, then always before I go to bed.

6 and 8 and I check on my way to bed, never if I wake in the night though. DS2 isn't a great sleeper so more often than not he's in with us by midnight anyway

DS1 is 2.3. I check him when I go to bed, making sure his temperature and that of the room is ok. If I wake up before him then I tend to listen at his door for breathing noises

I go to bed when they do and my eldest is a really light sleeper so I don't actually check them at all unless they've been unwell. I do have a monitor for each though.

DC are nearly 8 and 6 and so don't need checking per se, but I still do, not having broken the habit from when they were little.

I go in about 2-3 times during the evening, when I go to bed, and if I have to get up at night.

Not to check, but to kiss their adorable cheeks to my heart's content. 😍

I check on my 4 year old twins just once before I go to bed.

However I was on holiday in Center Parcs in the autumn and had a gut instinct to go in and see them at 8pm. Thank god i did, because if I hadn't I am absolutely positive we would have lost our son that night.

The duvets were ridiculously dense and heavy and my son had slid head-first off the bed in his sleep, completely cocooned in the duvet. With gravity the duvet had slid down and was completely wrapped around and covering his entire head and torso. He was BOILING hot and I doubt he was getting much oxygen.

We had a mad panic 10 minutes cooling him and shaking him and asking him questions to see if he was hyperthermic. Thankfully he came round fairly quickly and was coherent and his normal self within half an hour or so.

I am so glad I went in to check on him.

12, 10 and 8. Once they're in bed that's it; I don't check on them. The doors are creaky and noisy when they're opened and I don't want to wake them up.

I tried to sneak into dd2's room at 11.30pm last night to retrieve some vaseline for my dry lips, thought I was being quiet, and she still sat up in her bed like Dracula in his coffin giving me the fright of my life.

23 month old. Baby monitor until we go to bed. Check breathing when we go to bed then see him in the morning. Our room is next door.

DD has just turned 2. I check on her about an hour after she's gone to bed and then again when I go to bed. If I'm out and DH has done bedtime then I tend to look in on her whenever I get in. I don't routinely check on her in the night if I get up to go to the loo or whatever.

(She's able to come and get us in the night if she needs us for any reason)

10 & 8 and I check on them when I go to bed. Once they're asleep they're not easily woken by me popping in.

The 6yo I check when I go for a wee. Which is every half hour at the moment due to a baby bouncing on my bladder. When not pregnant I check her about an hour after she's gone to bed to check she's actually asleep and then before I go to bed. The 12 month old sleeps in my bed so no checking required.

13 and 11. I only check occasionally, mainly only if I hear sounds from their rooms, I haven't done it on a nightly basis for years now.

I check about an hour after bedtime to make sure she's gone to sleep, as she has mastered the art of playing so quietly I can't even hear from the study right next to her bedroom. Then I creep in to put the lamp off when I go to bed, and if I hear a noise in the night. DD is 3.

I feel terrible. I don't check dd 18months. Too scared to wake her!! We have a baby monitor on all the time though. You all seem to check on them loads. Should I be doing it more?

I have an almost 6 year old. He goes to bed at 7ish and I might check on him when I go to bed but we still use his baby listener downstairs.

5 and 6 year old. They go to bed around 9pm and we usually check once before we go to bed. Then we all sleep in Same room anyway so nearby

I check my school aged children whenever I go to the loo or wake up. so could be 2-3 times per night as well as a couple times before I sleep.
More of an anxiety thing, I worry they will be sick in their sleep or come down with a temperature.
2 year old is still in cot next to me as I feel too anxious to move her into her own room.

I never check mine! All primary school age now, but I didn't when they were younger either.

I don't check on DD(3) either! Maybe I'll look in on my way to bed but more often than not I don't. I go to her straight away if I hear a noise, but otherwise she's solo from 7pm until she wakes at 7.30ush
No monitor either.

Every time I go to the loo I check the boys but they sleep with the door open so it's easy
