When is too old for baby grows?

Just been out with my almost 5 month old at a mum&baby group. She was in a vest and baby grow (all in one thing with poppers). Another mum said 'Ohh, she is still in her pj's, you must have been in a rush this morning'.
Should I start dressing her in outfits now? I did notice all others in wee jeans or dresses etc. I just find those more of a faff.
What's your opinion?

I kept DD in babygros until she could walk, nearly. We might have had some leggings and tops before then.

Don't see the point in outfits when they're tiny, and definitely not dresses which just get hoiked up all the time.

Sounds like a bit of a rude person, tbh. Dress your baby how you like.

Ds was in baby grows until he was at least 10 months.

Baby grow,hone knit cardi and little soft pram boots.

I don't like 'proper' clothes on babies.

Thanks, I will keep her in her baby grows a while longer (and ignore rude mother).

I wonder if there is a correlation between babies dressed in 'outfits' and wee girls dressed in heels, crop tops etc? I want my wee one to stay wee for aa long as possible!

Once we left the hospital babygrows were pyjamas. I love proper clothes on babies. Each to their own!

She sounds like a dick. Keep your baby in sleep suits for as long as you like, much comfier for the baby than jeans or dresses! And easier for you as well. I'm expecting DC2 and they'll be living in sleep suits for the best part of their first year.

I do outfits some days, baby grows others. Baby grows are great; I have no intention to stop using them anytime soon. My DD is 8 months.

When walking / nearly walking their feet should be free so no footed babygrows at that age. We moved to rompers instead and just cut the feet off a load of babygros.

Also it's best for them to be out of all in ones for potty training. Which is why they get harder to get hold of above the 18/24m age mark.

And just remembered it can be a right faff to change a role babygro during the messy weaning stage we found tops and trousers easier past 6m.

But really who gives a fuck? To be fair she might not have been being rude. Just foot in mouth syndrome from being nervous at baby group (been there) exhausted (been there) and obsessed with sleep routines, pyjamas etc (been there!).

If it was up to my OH, never too old! Our son switched into "normal" clothes when he was walking and playing in the mud and dirt - so about 11 months. But there are still days when he (and I!) stays in his onsie. Usually Weds or weekends when he's not at nursery.

Theu were rude dress you baby how you want!
babies have their whole life to be in proper outfits , their time in a babygro is limited imo. sure they look cute but they're probably more comfy in a babygro and you can get some gorgeous ones with a matching hairband etc
my baby is 10 months but i do mix it up I will probably stop around 1 and a half or when I can no longer find them in her size .

I love babies in baby gros for as long as possible (walking I guess). Sadly DS has massive feet and long legs so I can't find ones that fit :( Makes me sad when I see him in an outfit.

The babygro phase is sooooo short, you've their whole life to dress them up! I think babies look a bit silly in clothes at times but always cute in a babygro!

For mine once they were pulling themselves up to standing so around 10 months or so I switched to clothes and proper PJs so that they can go bare foot for grip

My two were mainly in baby grows up to 6 months ish and then outfits became easier. Ds was a bit sicky when he started crawling and it's easier to just change tops or bottoms than a baby grows- equally when they're weaning it's easier for changing. I also found clothes that were a bit more durable on their knees than baby grows when they started to crawl.

Really?Hmm Babies don't give a flying fuck what you dress them in as they have no concept of fashion.

Personally, I dressed DS in whatever I thought would be comfiest for him having to be lifted up and carried about etc. So he was in babygros and rompers until about 8/9 months, with a few cotton leggings and t-shirt sets as well. Once he was walking I stopped buying babygros even for pyjamas because he would slip on the floors. Even now I really tend to dress him in comfy, stretchy clothes so that he can clamber around easily. Some people said to me "aw I love to see babies still in babygros", when he was about 6-7mo. It's each to their own but I don't think I would pass comment unless it was a nice one.

Dress you DC however you and they will feel comfortable. I used to dress mine in 'clothes' for the day and babygro's at night mainly so they could learn that changing clothes was part of a bedtime routine. But you could just change babygro's and do that anyway. Ignore other people's judgement

Baby grows are the best and they must be so comfy for baby. I stopped using them when they started to walk. Jeans on babies though...confuses me...why oh why???

DD is 14 and wore one last night. If she didn't have to wear school uniform, I think she'd have liked to wear it all day.

That person was rude, and quite silly. Do ignore them. Baby grows are comfortable and practical. I think ours wore manly baby grows till they started on solids, when they just got too messy!

My ds mainly wears outfits but generally soft baby like clothing if that makes any sense at all. I'm not a huge fan of jeans / smarter stuff for babies but he has worn stuff like that on occasion.

I wouldn't assume pyjamas I'd just think awh cute baby tbh.

Dress her how you want!

I hate 'proper' clothes on babies. They always look so uncomfortable. Babies need to be warm and snuggly, without waistbands digging in and tops riding up.

I generally switched to leggings and tops when mine were on the move, around 8-10 months for my 3. Otherwise their legs disappeared up inside the baby grow!
