When is too old for baby grows?

Just been out with my almost 5 month old at a mum&baby group. She was in a vest and baby grow (all in one thing with poppers). Another mum said 'Ohh, she is still in her pj's, you must have been in a rush this morning'.
Should I start dressing her in outfits now? I did notice all others in wee jeans or dresses etc. I just find those more of a faff.
What's your opinion?

I would say from when they start crawling.

However, in terms of pjs I would say until they start to pop it open by themselves. That is annoying

Just picked up another warm romper from Sainsburys :)

Some people are jusy rude, I was out at the next sale last saturday morning and to be fair, my 9 month old was in her all in one as it was early, and we dressed her when we got back. Someone in the queue who had scowled at me all the way round with me having the pushchair, said "has she only just woke up?". Stupid woman...it's woken anyway! I should have asked if she had just got up too!

By proper clothes I mean stiff waistband jeans, button up shirts, solid, structured shoes etc.

When you can't buy them to fit anymore. I love a child in a babygro, even my 8yo Grin

I put my first DD in outfits early on, mainly because they were gifts, and they were a PITA - they always needed ironing after washing! My 2nd DD is 12 weeks old and aside from a dress on 3 special occasions, she's been in sleepsuits or short sleeved/short legged romper a when it was warm. Dress your child how you like and ignore her!

Good mix up of opinions. I will keep the baby grows for days and long sleeve vest in grow sack for night.

I think my other comment (regarding girls dressing older than their age) was judgey and not thought through properly. Sorry if offended anyone.

Ahh I love babygrows, you can get some really nice ones at Next with fun patterns on that look so cute on baby. I think babies should be in babygrows for as long as possible!
River Island also do baby clothes but they are proper mini adult outfits. I remember seeing a baby t shirt for sale that had a picture of Little Mix on it - for a newborn? Hmm

Oh I hate small babies in real clothes! A friend just put up a picture on FB of her 8 week old twin Grandsons and they both have jeans and a top on, they don't look comfy at all and were swamped in clothing!

Each to their own though, people can dress their babies however they want so that woman was rude!

My dd came out of babygrows at night when she was two and during the day until she was about 11 months she would wear babygrows or rompers.

I did babygros as pyjamas from day 1. Part of the sleep routine. They mostly just wore vests and trousers in the day though.

cornishglos · 29/09/2016 13:39

I also find all the poppers on babygros really annoying.
