ANY OTHER FORCES WIVES OUT THERE?

Just been chatting with 3andnomore on another thread and wondered if there are any more of us on mumsnet who would like a chat and a comforting moan? I am on my own atm - hubby away for 4 months, and would love to swap 'home alone with the kids' stories - good and bad, and also a good gossip about the other wives we are left with! A much safer outlet for frustration than the hive!

We have always used our loft. They just say not to for H&S reasons - if you put a foot thru the ceiling, you're responsible for the damage.

We used our loft in our first house. It was chocca. We haven't since but haven't needed too as have a garage rammed to the rafters now. I would just use it personally.

6 weeks - good grief i'd be pleading with my DH to go back to work if i had him at home for 6 weeks. I had 8 days of him last week, one of which I was off as well, so we had a nice day together, but by Friday I was demente4d with him. So what's your date for going to Plymouth? We have had to turn down our intial MQ offer at Portsmouth on medical grounds, and have been told we will go on a waiting list. It means DH going down unaccompanied, which isn't great, but I hope the waiting list isn't too long.

Just bumping this up. Has another thread started and I've missed it?

Moving house in less than two weeks now. Have just spent the last two days doing carboot sales to get rid of some of our baby stuff. Done quite well - £240 profit and about 50% of the stuff gone.

littlemissbitch · 13/04/2007 20:43

in scotland just outside edinburgh, been here for a few years now, love it up here cause im pretty close to my family and old friends as well as having good friends here. we all have young kids though so are housebound at night so it can get a bit lonely

saltire · 13/04/2007 20:45

I take it you are at Dreghorn or Redford then? My mate is moving to Glencorse n May, she's really excited, only thing we are posted south , although as yet I don't have an MQ allocated

No, and I'm getting P'd off. We turned down the one they offered us on medical grounds. So they have said we will be top of the list for the next suitable one which comes availiable. However, DH has to be down there for end May, and I don't want to be here for months on my own. It's not as if he's going to get home for weekends, plus if I'm having a bad day, I rely on him coming through the door at 5/6 pm to take over.

Ello again saltire! I lived in ports MQ. Dh is in falkalnds at the mo until July!

saltire · 13/04/2007 21:19

Hello again cheekymonk. Whereabouts in Portsmouth are you? We turned down Paulsgrove because of the hill.

Loopy - I do believe all the estate offices are closed now and they have introduced those new Housing Info centres. But I was told that the woman who deal with allocations has moved to an office in normandy Road, in stamshaw

cheekymonk · 13/04/2007 21:24

Hi saltire. Wise move turning down Paulsgrove. Has the worst reputation in pompey apart from somerstown! we did live in eastney but in copnor now. How well do you know ports?
I see you live in fife. Dh is from rosyth.

littlemissbitch · 13/04/2007 21:25

im a bit more outside edinburgh than that, where are you being posted to are yu looking forward to it, apart from your mq problems.

Cheekymonk, i don't know the area at all. We have been here for more than 4 years, so I'm dreading moving so far south, all our family are within 2-3 hours drive from us here.

My family are 3 hours away. See then about once a month at the most.
If you need any advice about portsmouth or where to live just ask.
The Eastney MQ are the nicest, near the seafront and about 2-3 miles away from city centre. Stamshaw has lots of flats and have heard good and bad about it.
I'm off to bed now to get some energy for another day!
nice talking with you x

munz · 15/04/2007 13:59

hey all found you again! we're back online now!

saltaire I don't blame you for turning down that house, it's a huge hill v steep, but to be fair I honestly don't think the area is as bad as somerstown (it's only 5 mins from where I grew up)

anyhow how's everyone doing apart from that?

Yorky · 21/04/2007 21:56

Hello forces mums, wish I'd found you earlier.
DS is now 13wks and we are currently at Brampton but supposedly moving up to RAF Leeming, Yorkshire soon - if they ever commit the decision to paper!
This will be our first move and with small person as we only married and moved here 2 yrs ago - any top tips?
Also, DH is supposed to be away for 6months from August so will miss first Christmas - how do you get little kids to remember dad when he gets back?
