ANY OTHER FORCES WIVES OUT THERE?

Just been chatting with 3andnomore on another thread and wondered if there are any more of us on mumsnet who would like a chat and a comforting moan? I am on my own atm - hubby away for 4 months, and would love to swap 'home alone with the kids' stories - good and bad, and also a good gossip about the other wives we are left with! A much safer outlet for frustration than the hive!

Thank you Laura, you're a star

McDreamy · 13/03/2007 18:51

When are you coming out here Drusila? I'm at Akrotiri. It's a lovely place, a few things to get used to but I'm really enjoying it.

McDreamy - arriving beginning of June. I am starting to get excited now! DHs' parents live in dhekelia (sp?) and whilst I am not overjoyed at having my MIL that close it will be nice to have babysitters. What are you finding hardest to get used to?

McDreamy · 13/03/2007 19:59

The driving takes a bit of getting used to!

The Cypriot winter is a bit drab - these holiday brouchures that advertise Cyprus as an all year round sunshine location - lie!!!

Customer service is non existent, UK shines in comparison!

The quarters are old and old fashioned but after a while you kind of get used to it's quirkyness!

I don't know what Ay Nik is like but the food here is a bit hit and miss. Have been here a year now and have just found the places I like to go. The NAAFI has just lost it's contract here so we're all waiting to see what happens there.

The weather is fab, summer long and hot, social life brill, children's facilites fantastic. It's a nice way of life but there are just a few grumbles that run along side it. Wouldn't be a proper posting if there weren't!

nulnulcat · 13/03/2007 20:03

hi can i join in? dp is in army and is off to afghan next week til november, feeling a bit fed up at moment, he has just been home on leave for over 2 weeks and now he has gone back to camp dd is playing me up no end which doesnt help much

Drusilla · 13/03/2007 20:03

I once went on holiday to Paphos in March and was horrified at how cold it was!! Both the quarters I have lived in have been ancient with 1950's wooden kitchens so I'm prepared for that It's nice to know the social life and childrens facilities are great, it's all I'm worried about really

McDreamy · 13/03/2007 20:04

Oh hun of course you can join. Rubbish isn't it? My DH is currently there too, back in 2 weeks I hope! Keep on posting, we'll keep you company.

McDreamy · 13/03/2007 20:05

Then you'll have a great time. I love it!

nulnulcat · 13/03/2007 20:23
