ANY OTHER FORCES WIVES OUT THERE?

Just been chatting with 3andnomore on another thread and wondered if there are any more of us on mumsnet who would like a chat and a comforting moan? I am on my own atm - hubby away for 4 months, and would love to swap 'home alone with the kids' stories - good and bad, and also a good gossip about the other wives we are left with! A much safer outlet for frustration than the hive!

Hello
Benji - I am Cooperoo on that thread Laura linked to further down. I had my dd2 at Limassol Medical Centre in the end (was in Akrotiri). Are the consultants still the Egyptian chaps? FWIW if you want a section I would be surprised if you didn't get one. They are quite practiced at doing them . As I remember one consultant is better than the other???
2+1 - Yay! Have fun!!
McDreamy - We drove around without tax for 2 mths as the paperwork didn't arrive. Do you have your receipts? Apparently it is fine as long as you have those. Keep them in the car. Is the chap at the garage doing it for you? Chase him too. DH's moped tax went missing and had been given to someone else . We tracked it down though. Did you see my comments about your DH's 40th on another thread. We went to a 40th at the Carting club and has pizza delivered. It was such fun and great to do something so different. The club house was cool too. It was done up by that make over show on BFBS with Craig from BB (do you know what I mean?) Hung drawn and quartered??? The consulatants will take your coil out at the hosp. There was no waiting time when I was there although things may have changed.
Hi to everyone else

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 15:55

Oh Skyler some sad news - the man from the garage died on Sunday

Skyler · 07/02/2007 16:01

Oh no. That is sad . He was so sweet .
Are Mr and Mrs Dino still OK at the little shop in the corner by the shoe shop?

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 16:03

Yes they are still there - I would like to say fit and well but I think that might be stretching the truth!! We go in there every day

Skyler · 07/02/2007 16:05

I used to go there every day too to get my bread rolls etc. I love Mary and Dino. I know what you mean about their health too . I hope they are able to retire soon.

benjiplusone · 07/02/2007 16:28

Skyler, can you remember which might be the better consultant? I was told today that there is only one now, though that could be wrong. How the medical centre at Limassol? A friend chose to have her's there recently and said it was fab.
McDreamey, Have you got the web address to do your car tax on line? A neighbour came round here and did the other day. That's sad news about theman in the garage, he was sweet.

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 16:33

here

Skyler · 07/02/2007 18:46

O M G!!! You can do your road tax on the internet in Cyprus now!!!!! . They had only just got broadband when we were there and we have only been back a year. WOW.
You have more than one TV channel now don't you? Do you watch Room 785? Is Sim still doing it?
Benji+1 - The Limassol Medical Centre was like a hotel. It was wonderful, en suite, great food and I was the only one in there so had all the midwives to myself. But that was when the military midwives were working there and I presume they're not now TPMH is back open.....
I would think you are very safe to have a section there as they are very practiced at it as the c-section rate is very high in Cyprus and you would be well cared for, but if it was with Cypriot nurses they tend to put the babies in incubators to keep them warm and run a nursery type thing caring for the babies whilst you rest. The babies are often given glucose too. This did not suit me, although it may you, especially the rest after a section . Just ask lots of questions. The consultant I remember was Mr Awad?? but I don't know what he was like as I was lucky not to need consultant care (although I do think I had one appt with him. I had an on call consultant for my induction who was lovely but didn' work at TPMH regularly.
Have to pop out now but please feel free to ask me anything else. Because of the problems with the hospital being shut we visited another clinic to look at going private too. DD2 was born in June 2005. I wouldn't have swapped my Army midwife for the world. She was amazing.

pinkdolly · 07/02/2007 19:09

hi Laura, my dh is on 829 at the moment, we have friends on the patch at helston and try to make it to the monthly sunday teas if we can.

tinytotmummy · 07/02/2007 20:11

evening all! Not been around much as DH home last night and he feels neglected if I spend my evenings on mn! Also have been v sick..

2+1 only tonight to go, how excited are you? Bet you won't sleep tonight, nor tomorrow either

We have sent application form for ssfa now and apparently have to wait for their contractors to find a property for us.

I have DSD 17, DS 3.4 and DD 2.1 and 3 due 1/10

I must just say its really nice to have this thread running with lots of other people genuinely sympathetic to your way of life. Really has perked me up, as always feel a little lonely in the evenings when DH is away for the week. Thanks girlies

Laura032004 · 07/02/2007 20:12

pinkdolly - we quite often go to those teas as well, although we've not been for a couple of months with one thing and another. I've probably seen you there! Think the last one we went to was when the kids were making spider webs with twigs and wool.

What a lovely site littlelapin But how sad that you needed to do it. I hadn't seen any of the threads about GGG's daughter. I should be living in Portsmouth by then, but we are going out to Cyprus in May to visit my parents, so won't be able to make the Portsmouth walk. If anybody organises one in Ay Nik or Dhekalia, I should be able to make it.

twoplusone · 08/02/2007 07:57

Tinymum- had an early night (kept waking up though!!) last night to save my energy for tonight.

Loopy, yep, terrible morning sickness, only 6 weeks!

Lapin, it is a wonderful thing that you are doing, every time I think of Maude and read GGG's posts the tears start welling up. We are going to do the Somerset one as a family

Laura032004 · 08/02/2007 10:56

Portsmouth ladies - just spoken to DE, and apparently the only type 5 quarter availability in the whole of Portsmouth is Moortown (sp?) Avenue in Drayton. Any ideas what these houses are like? Are any of you at Drayton? Are there any good nurseries nearby?

twoplusone · 08/02/2007 11:00
