Just a bit hacked off with mums at school, they moan about having no life away from their kids/ not much money, yet they all seem to refuse to get jobs or careers!
why do some women just want to do sweet FA all day when their kids are at school? They seem content for their husbands to slog their guts out at work while they drink cups of tea and watch daytime tv! Dont get it! i think its called laziness??

It's no ones business whether SAHMs work or not especially if they are not relying on the state to support their children. Unless you have a job whereby you can work from home (toyed with the idea of working for a sexline company - joke)it's difficult to find a job which fits in with care for your children. Consequently I work full time. I don't judge others for their choice.

magicfarawaytree · 21/09/2006 01:05

sleeping beauty what do you do? just curious because I'm a bit confused how someone with a non engergy expending ( sleeping) and shallow ( beauty) is so interested in what sahm are doing. I am a sahm I only have one child in reception, and wont have three in school until 2008. My husband still works the 80 hours a week we both did in order to pay off our mortgage early - yes that both of us. My husband works long hours and it is up to me to try to compensate for that is what ever way I choose that is beneficial to my children that does not causes hardship to others. Its called freedom of choice. We dont take anything from the state, because we worked so hard and live so far from family we have no local support network, and I am not just going to hand my child over to anyone. have you seen the 'sensitive thread' - actually can you even read or write? - prehaps you had one of your office minions type this for you. why dont you get off your fat arse and concentrate on something more important like helping to get the government to improve education, healthcare, do some about the current pensions crisis. oh but I guess they dont discuss those in Company or heat do they.
Just thought I would reply in the tone of your message.

magicfarawaytree · 21/09/2006 01:06

shoud say do something about...

I make no apologies for my typing or grammer - children who wake in the night and still wake up early will do that for you.

The OP is ignorant, rude and obnoxious. I'm amazed that over 400 posts have been wasted in rising to it.

Grow up, sleepinbeauty.

I would say that the mums at school who are moaning about having no money & no life away from their kids are just having a gripe. There are plenty of jobs out there that you can fit around school, if that is what you really want.
I have no choice, my tight ar$e ex-husband won't give me enough money to support the kids. I have managed to find a job that fits around school. Its a good job & it pays reasonably well but it doesn't set my soul on fire!
However, in all honesty, because I am a lazy cow I would love to be at home while my children are at school. I can't think of anything nicer than pottering around at home, painting my toenails, whipping around with the hoover, doing a leisurely supermarket shop & meeting a friend for coffee - what absolute bliss!!!!

Joolstoo · 21/09/2006 09:33

what's up?

sugarfree · 21/09/2006 09:35

How dare you put my picture up without permission!
Don't you just lurrrrve my hat?

daisy1999 · 21/09/2006 09:38

sleepin beauty - can't be bothered to read the whole thread but in response to your original question - I don't moan about not having a job and I don't get a job because I don't have to, don't want to and if that bothers anybody else then tough!!

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 21/09/2006 09:39

These workers who whinge about their jobs and their bosses - why don't they just stop moaning and give up work?

See? Silly isn't it? Not worth entering into a sober sensible discussion about.

Tortington · 21/09/2006 09:55

hardly.
people who work - usually - usually do it or the money or the lifestyle the money brings ( rahter than any benevolent cause - either to others or self)

usually becuase they have no choice - they are inextricably linked to the economy - chained by mortgage. trying to juggle what one wants with what one can afford.

so i dont think its an unreasonable request to ask - what a mother who has children at school all day does with her time. apart from worrying how shiny the taps are and he domestic orgasms the y get pegging out washing ( how sad)

the truth is they have probably bouht into a lifestyle where they show off their social status by staying at home, lunching with friends, cooking nigella and jamie scooter and wittering on endlessly about the best schools in the area.

only they wont admit it

accept one - was it lucy? good on ya lucy!

Gobbledigook · 21/09/2006 10:00

Good choice OO!

CarolinaMoon · 21/09/2006 10:04

what sort of job do you do Bugsy?

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 21/09/2006 10:11

Sorry custy that's bollocks. None of the SAHM's around here are nigella types, they're just normal women whose dh's (if they have them) have normal jobs. You're talking about SAHM's as if they're all middle class and they're not. I don't know what the socio-economic breakdown is for SAHMs, but I would have thought more working class women would be SAHM's because they're less likely to have access to jobs where the wages and hours are flexible enough to fit in with their parenting commitments.

As for asking what they do with their time - as long as they're not breaking the law, it's none of my business.

oliveoil · 21/09/2006 10:13

I would be bored I think if I was at home all day.

I would love it for about a month, and get all those annoying little jobs done around the house. And polish my skirting boards.

and then.....dunno

Think I would do an OU course or something.

I am v lucky in that I work p/t (3 days) and work say that I can juggle my hours once my girls are in school to fit AND have my inlaws round the corner to cover hols.

If not, how the hell do you find a job to fit in school hours and time off for holidays?

daisy1999 · 21/09/2006 10:13

oh lots of green eyed monsters !!

SoupDragon · 21/09/2006 10:15

"the truth is they have probably bouht into a lifestyle where they show off their social status by staying at home, lunching with friends, cooking nigella and jamie scooter and wittering on endlessly about the best schools in the area."

Quite frankly, that's absolute f*cking b@llocks.

Tortington · 21/09/2006 10:27

lots of people seem to be saying bollocks recently to things i post it was greensleves yesterday and 2 more today - i would like to think that i could disagree with someone - put my reasons why.

quite frankly i think its rude. if you have an argument then state it. how easy would it be - yet how boring to read when we disagreed fundementally with anothers post - "bollocks"
