Hello everyone. I am still here, lurking away, just dropping in to say hello. Things are really up and down at the moment DH has taken his mums passing really hard, as they were very close. And his dad is busy trying to be terribly, terribly independent and pretend that he doesnt miss his companion of 49 years (heaven forbid that he should ever admit to loving someone). And BG has decided that this is the best time to have four molars come through, with the result that he doesnt sleep were up every 15-30 minutes soothing him. Tried co-sleeping, but thats just dangerous now, as BG flings himself round the bed with such abandon. Even when asleep. (Rosie, we really sympathise on the no sleep).

This too shall pass. I just wish I could make things better for DH.

Sorry, I shall be the soul of levity in my next post, as well as responding to everyone! Waves to all.

GoatBongoAnonymous · 27/02/2014 15:04

Ok, I have no idea why my work computer hates apostrophes. It's an academic computer, for heaven's sake! It should love good grammar!

Blueblackdye · 28/02/2014 14:30

So sorry DH has a rough time Goat, BG teething might help to not to think too much of his Mum... There is no word that can relieve the pain.

Rosie, how is DD3 feeling today ? Steam, nasal spray, proping cot up, wet towel on radiators... Poor Rosebud and poor Mum

Blueblackdye · 28/02/2014 14:33

DrSpouse enjoy the week end in London. What are you up too ?

Blueblackdye · 28/02/2014 14:42

As far as I know, bottle is ok for teeth as long as child does not suck on it all night. But of course if child takes sippy cup straight away, at least there won't be a bottle weaning stage !!! A takes only 1 or 2 oz from the beaker whereas she can take 6 or 7 oz from a bottle now in the morning and then asks for boob. In the evening, she would not even take the teat in her mouth, it is boob, full stop!!!!

notsoold · 28/02/2014 16:04

Bbd my ds1 refuse anything but boobies so had to be a beaker without a top for him. Really hard work that was!

I am trying to find out what is happening to J. He takes 2oz and then starts crying and refuses to take more. Gets really upset hen I manage to feed more. If I leave he will for hours.... Otherwise he is fine ( not sleeping much but then it is not news here).

drspouse · 28/02/2014 17:51

We went to see the Changing of the Guard at Horseguards Parade today, and it's the Zoo tomorrow. So far so good though we are staying in a flat and I take my hat off to anyone with a toddler in a flat. It's very hard work with him in a small space!

I'm afraid my understanding is that bottles are not great for teeth even if they don't fall asleep with them. It's the flow rate that holds the liquid on their teeth too long - including milk.

Blueblackdye · 01/03/2014 11:02

The zoo ! Enjoy the trip with this shy sunshine DrSpouse.
I am tidying up the flat, DH leaving for Florida, MIL arriving. A found a new activity: climbing in baskets, boxes, recycling bins ! I also need to make a fox costume for DS... Busy busy !

rosiedays · 01/03/2014 16:18

Me. .. dh why don't you take rosebud out?
Dh. .. out?

Me. ... yes out, in the car, for a walk, just out?
Dh. .. what on my own? ??
Me. .. yes on your own. . She nearly 8 months and you've never taken her anywhere on your own! !!
Dh. .. why would I do that? ?? Confused
I give up!

rosiedays · 01/03/2014 16:26

It's my birthday Monday, just ordered my own present as dh has done nothing.(thanks for the link eagle :) ) it's something I've wanted for ages and am really looking forward to having forever. I have many but wanted a special silver one that rosebud can chew on and play with while feeding. A memory catcher :)
Rosebud has invited baby pud to sea life
centre followed by lunch, aanyone else up this way welcome to join us. :)

EagleRay · 01/03/2014 16:45

Glad the link was useful Rosie! Am dead jealous re your sea life trip - I LOVE aquariums. Looking forward to having more time to do stuff like that in the next month or two/three

Poor clueless DH - does he have any bloke friends with babies who he can hang out with? I think it's easier for guys if they can hang out together with babies.

I'm currently in bed as knackered after nearly a whole week on my own (DP couldn't come home on Weds and didn't get home til this afternoon as he was doing a sports event in his weekday town today. So glad to finally hand over responsibility and put my feet up for an hour. I went out last night to dinner party at a neighbour's house and DD's keyworker from nursery babysat. There was a really strange moment where we answered the door and DD saw her keyworker stood on the doorstep. She looked really puzzled and then this expression of incredulous delight washed over her face. Then she was bouncing around like Zebedee until she passed out fast asleep about 10 mins after I went out. It's quite strange watching your baby have this incredible bond with someone you don't know that well, but at the same time I'm really pleased she spends weekdays with someone she trusts and feels very comfortable with.

I'm off out again tonight - DP babysitting tonight while I have a few drinks with a friend. Loving my new-found freedom Smile

scarecrow22 · 02/03/2014 15:10

Rosie, happy birthday for tomorrow. Hope to see YeH memory catcher on FB?
DrSpouse, belatedly so glad day with SW went well. I did half laugh half choke about the "lovely couple but he's having an affair" - the poor poor woman Sad Hope you've enjoyed London.
Eagle - check you and your going.out shenanigans. remember wine and babies don't mix well Wink Have you stopped bf? if have probs dropping the post nursery feed can.I humbly suggest you get her very used.to only one feed a day approx then, then over say four days - one or two.when you are around all day before over a weekend, the remainder when she is at nursery, you get dh to.take over at that time - offer warm.milk.in a bottle or sippy cup (highly recommend cow cups which sell in major supermarkets) and you Leave The House And Don't Come Back. Then.rest of week you need somebody with you who will keep you strong. Ot sounds mean bit DD will recover quickly, babies (I believe) are affected not by incidents of being.refused comfort but by trends so this will not traumatise her, and Most Importantly, more than your milk she needs You so you need to look after yourself.AMD go back on the meds. If that is too much for you to bear, stop the feed at weekends for a few weeks, then the odd day DH can pick up - ideally starting on.a Friday. AMD gradually break the habit.
BBD - do hope you are okay with DH gone. Will be thinking of you lots.
Somewhere & others I do hope.all.okay x

scarecrow22 · 02/03/2014 15:19

grr lost second message.

in.brief T pooed blood after a week of constipation - do not repeat my.mistake and stock.lactulose to administer after two.days.
Took.kids to sci museum.
I.love my new job.
I have no free time whatsoever but I am happier back at work.
waves to.all xx

rosiedays · 03/03/2014 16:32

Hello everyone :)
Had a lovely day so far. Dh did take dd out to buy a card and flowers (It was a battle but it happened! ) pudding and i watched fish and had a lovely lunch on the river. Dd1 sent a lovely moonpig card with all my beautiful children and grandchildren on :)
Dh also renewed my dive instructor (needs paid annually) which was very simple (and free) for him to do, but it means a lot to me to keep my instructor status so am very happy.
Hopefully the memory catcher will arrive tomorrow :).
Hope everyone else is having a good day. Xx

notsoold · 03/03/2014 16:51

Rosie...happy birthday!!! Xxx

drspouse · 03/03/2014 17:28

Yes, a very happy birthday Rosie! Cake

GoatBongoAnonymous · 03/03/2014 18:07

Happy birthday Rosie! I wish you a lovely full sleep tonight Smile

EagleRay · 03/03/2014 21:40

happy birthday Rosie Cake Thanks Wine so glad you had a lovely day.

Thanks for the feeding advice Scarecrow - it all makes sense although am really up against it as no real support from anywhere Sad DP understands that BF has to stop but seemed to spend the weekend handing DD to me for feeding. She's will happily take formula from a cup now though - been giving her some when we get home from work/nursery and at bedtime, although she's still insisting on boobs too. Will have to wait until the weekend now before we can try any withdrawing of BF as too much to cope with on my own!

Hope everyone ok and had a good monday

somewherebecomingrain · 04/03/2014 12:50

Hello all.

drspouse glad you having a nice time in London. Im really enjoying your updates on the adoption process and I hope it's not too gruelling for you. We are in a flat albeit with a baby and 5yo but actually i find it much easier - mine always want to be close and in a flat they are, so I have much more freedom to get around.

bbd fox costume OMG. Having a child at school is exhausting for us mums don't you think?

eagle good luck with the bf. gorgeous description of eaglet and what a lovely vote of confidence in the childcare you've chosen!

rosie happy happy birthday. Re rubbish men I cite Valentine's day when dp promised to be back early from work and i was really looking forward to it and got the kids all excited. He then came back late, drunk, and fell into bed. We'd promised not to mark V-day but I must admit I didn't think that meant desecrate it.

goat how are you? how is the family? I'm sorry DH is taking it hard but then what else would he do?

scare it's the best thing when work and family are both going well!

I have passed my dear somelet over to childcare for 6 hours today. It's not actually the first time i've done it but i bloody miss her! Such a wrench.

Now the minutes are slipping through my fingers as I should be achieving stuff but am on MN! Oh NO!

Got to go

OP posts:
drspouse · 04/03/2014 18:38

Well back at work yesterday, exhausted and have a migraine today! I went and got DS from nursery early, by the time DH got home he was crawling all over me and I was trying not to shout too loud at him.

At least three of the last four people the adoption agency had to check with confirmed they got their forms today Smile Smile - just one more, then we are supposed to read the whole report to check for errors and then it goes to the panel to read before we turn up, on our best behaviour, that's next month.

EagleRay · 04/03/2014 21:35

Hope your migraine is better soon drspouse - have you been watching the overlocker action on the Great British Sewing Bee this evening? I thought of you!

rosiedays · 04/03/2014 23:38

I thought of you too drspouse :
I also have a migraine! Actually I think it's sinusitis! Which is not good as usual treatment is heavy decongestant which i can't take as bf. Will go to gp am as I've had it for a couple of days now.
Feeling awful, dd fell asleep before I'd brushed her teeth tonight :( first time they've not been done :( will give them an extra good brush in the morning.

some where did we find such unless men? I bought my mothers day card today as I wanted one that looks like a baby choose it. .. not like my b'day card that looks like something i might send myt mum! !!!

Bbd did i miss a post about you making another fab costume? ? Please share photo. A looks so cute all snuggled up and scarecrows link made me Grin how clever of you :)

Rosebud copied pata-cake on her knees this evening , over and over dh did it she did it. Was lovely to watch :)
Working on hand clapping and waving next. :)
Weaning going well, bread sticks are a clear favourite, avocado, chicken, Green beans and rice are all well received too. Chopped up prunes and mishmish pieces also a winner. A pear a day seems to be keeping the poo moving!
Not sure what to try next. .. Egg???

All this talk if stopping bf has made me again realise how quickly they grow up. Rosebud is being a milk monster again and I'm keenly aware i will be feeding a toddler very soon. Well done ladies. Hope stopping is gentle on all xx
