We are 40+ mummies sharing all the highs and lows of our autumn crocus babies. Also sharing tips and information (most crying is tiredness!) and jokes. Please join us!

None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm
You are only young once, but you can stay immature indefinitely
It's sad to grow old, but nice to ripen.

you jest not, knotty: only pair of jeans have ripped knees and grey hair pretty unruly....I do have legs though Grin

funny reading backwards as somewhere's outfit sounded v Hmm with no context Smile

Rosie so sorry you have felt poorly too, hope you, Eagle, bbd and all poorly babies well on the mend.

Survived first visit to in laws since our row in May. Actually stayed with friends, which helped take the pressure off. But I feel Sad that it all feels so hollow now with mil as I had been so fond of her and felt like I'd made huge effort over years. DD adores her and she both the dc, so hopefully time will heal it....

About to move T into 6m plus clothes. Babygrows and vests popping open, though tops still big on him

Dear BabyGoat,
Please, please sleep tonight. Sitting beside you for three full hours while you scream in your sleep and refuse to be picked up really does nothing for my sanity Sad . I hope you feel lots better and calm enough to rest peacefully. It would help us all.
Love from MummyGoat xx

Come on baby goat - you can do it! That sounds hideous mummy goat. Will cross fingers you have a quiet one

scarecrow suspect time will be the healer with the MIL situation. Also suspect that it'll become less awkward the more you see of her. Sort of business as usual attitude. You're obviously doing a marvellous job with T. He sounds as though he's positively thriving with you as Mum - 6 month plus clothes already Smile

Lots of love to all babies and mums under the weather. Feel better soon please x

Baby goat look into my eyes your feeling very sleepy very sleeeeepy

Well i thought I'd try out this' dream feeding' (in the hope of getting more than 3 hours sleep) so got into bed and dh brought her through still asleep, i laid her on the bed and put nipple to mouth. .. nothing, I stroked her cheek. .. nothing. ... i squeezed some out to rub on her lips (que let down ) she opened one eye pulled a disguised face turned her head away and went back to sleep. So I now have over full boobs, a wet patch to sleep in and a baby that will probably wake in 50mins for her midnight feast. Xx night all

Goat you ok?? Is he in pain? Calpol ? (G&Tfor you) are you co sleeping?

Report
GoatBongoAnonymous · 07/10/2013 23:41

We have calpoled, fed , soothed... Not co sleeping any more as he is so mobile during night that it is dangerous - bed guards are useless in the face of his acrobatics! DH just tried taking him into the spare bed. No joy.
He is tailing off at long last. Still awake though.

Goat having a bit of a night here too...baby ok has a cold and been trying to settle him for an hour. Definitely a night for co sleeping. Hope your night improves. As Rosie says can you co sleep?

Oh blimey Rosie been there. Both mine were useless with dream feeds
Stroked cheeks, undid sleep suits, even tried cold water to rouse them....nothing.....!

Right attempt number 4 to put baby KK down..

Sorry Goat - sounds awful for all of you

Just found this - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sleep/681485-Can-babies-have-night-terrors/AllOnOnePage

Does it give any clues? It sounds a bit similar to what you're experiencing - prob not v helpful, but if it is night terrors then I guess at least he's not ill/in pain. Still horrid for you to deal switch though - I hope he grows out of it soon

Night night everyone - wishing everyone a peaceful night x

Hope things have settled down goat. It's so difficult when they just won't stop. I have a memory of dd2 being very upset at nights Dr put it down to growing pains and calpol was given at bedtime every night (not sure if it's still recommended it was 23 years ago) its worked.
Dd1 just text. ..... may be a grandmother again by tomorrow. .. :)

goat I'm so sorry you are going.through this. Good suggestions to which I would add possible constipation? would also fit with green poos (poss sign of dehydration). Hope Calpol worked.

Rosie, how exciting...hope your DD doing okay and all are safe and having lovely cuddles soon (only on this thread would we be discussing one dc dream feeding and another dc giving birth Grin )
Dream feeding never worked here. I partly put this down to fact that a major proponent of df is Gina Ford and she would recommend going into their room, turning on all the lights, opening sleep bag, changing nappy (remember Gina babies sttn from 6 weeks or so Shock ) so you almost restart their night an hour later. I found if I.woke baby t then just woke more often. But it does work for a lot of babies (their parents I guess).

Talking of sleep, I noted with interest I rocked T to sleep after each feed last night and he "woke" far more often than usual. I wonder if like buggy pushing he woke up thinking "what happened to that lovely rocking motion....u want my mummy.....whhaaaaah??!!"

Disclaimer....dabbed cold water on cotton wool to rouse baby. Didn't dunk baby in said cold water Grin it still didn't bloody work with my two.

goat how was your night?

Mine was further wake ups at 3, 4 and now up for day at 5.15....grrrr....well I hope this stage doesn't last too long. This to shall and pass all that....that said my lovely DS is grinning away at me whilst breaking wind - who's heart can't be melted by that? Grin

Thank you everyone for suggestions. Eagle that looks interesting and yes possible in the mix. Scarecrow I do wonder if it is tied up with tummy trouble as started with lay bout. We don't have constipation problem but the opposite. First time in ages we have the noncontaining nappies... I still think maybe lactose intolerance and will push for testing. Rosie yes to growing pains too, given that my tiny is now a giant among babies! AND he is teething. Poor BG.

He screamed solid for three hours then on and off. Started again at about 5
And has just stopped. DH taking him to dr today. I have to go to work. Somehow... Have now had four nights on the trot like this...

What a night!

goat that sounds so tough. If you can't co sleep then where do you go from here? My ds was an awful sleeper and it went:

First 9 months wake 5 times a night.
9-18 months CIO as he was trapped in cot.
18mo - present day anything to get him down in bed (lie down with him/close door sanction) then accept he will jump out at midnight and come to us.

Which works fine.

Point is there is a journey and a narrative - BG won't stay like this forever.

Rosie Grin re dd's dc! That's gonna be great for her you won't be able to say you'dont remember what you did with a baby as my mum does!

lnicky that is so cute smiling whilst trumping awwww.

eagle can't u just wait till eaglet is hungry? If you are gonna have her in the bed anyway... I'm prob getting wrong end of stick.

I've as you know given up on sleep training. we are one big baby and mummy snuggle thru the night. And now the payback -how TF am I gonna stop night feeds?

Had a crap night too but for different reasons. Dp has got a part time job which he really wanted on a higher day rate. He got pissed with a colleagu then came in and woke me up at 11pm to rant. Then again at 5.30 am as that is how he rolls - starts work v early - workaholic loon.

Also fasted and totally addled so apols for meandering.

Nice that you are always here ladies. This thread is so strange. You are always here chatting away you are my constant companions.

Sbr. We co slept for the first 8 months then BG decided he wanted to be in his own cot. Then his own room. Sleep has been getting better and better since 8 months so this is out of the blue. Bizarre thing is he does the screaming while asleep during naps at childminder's which is what makes me think something else is going on. Oh well. 7 nights to paed's appt. just to get there...
Sorry for me me me posting. Am a zombie. In smart work clothes and vaguely brushed hair. Large amounts of makeup and shovel may be in order.

Morning all :)
No baby :( dd is 38 weeks and was totally convinced baby would b early (not sure why other than she was a 35 weeker) so is struggling a bit. It's her first and she has someveryslightly unrealistic thoughts on birth and baby's. Bless her. She has worked very hard to create a 'normal life, (uni, Married a safe Man, own house on new devrlopment, both have good jobs etc) from a slightly crazy childhood. (Her dad is a total fuckwit) she really struggled to come to terms with rosebud and had wanted me at birth and to stay with her for 2 weeks after to help (which is of course impossible) parenting failure again! !!

Somewhere. .. I totally understand your mum, I had forgotten EVERYTHING. Rosebud is like a pfb! I am a bit more clued up now so will be able to say 'normal' and 'this to shall pass'

Goat. . Re growing pains Dr said that as dd was a very busy lo when she stopped her body hurt. .. like if you'd spent hours in the gym?? Have you thought about taking him to osteopath? ?
Lol re dream feed stories, ,wont be trying again will just carry on with our lovely Co sleeping snuggle feeding.

goat flipping heck 4 nights in a row AND working?? Thank God I'm on mat leave, am in total awe of you. Any chance you can get a day off for some recuperation time when BG is at the childminders? Just a thought. Coffee is your friend today! Agree though defo time for further investigations - cover all bases so to speak. Somewhere is right though, it will change, hold heart things won't be like this forever and will change when least expected.

somewhere yy me too about stopping nightmares. Seem to recall with DD things gradually tailed off so hoping for more of the same.

Found out another revelation about DH yesterday from 4 years ago. Sex wasn't involved, but feel as though I'm being blindsided by New information. Today am feeling very teary once more. I'm just not sure I can stay with him Sad
