Horrendous night here, A woke up every hour and a half due to coughing, fed her back to sleep everytime ! She only takes the breast and eats very little amount of solid for a week now. Beaker and bottle are not working either. She Accepted a clementine and a kiwi for breakfast ! Now is playing with megablocks and fire engine dancing to xmas carols. Have GP appointment at 10.40.

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 11:30

bbd hope a ok. Hope a is a-ok even Smile. Seriously hope Gp reassures you. Ds was ill loads and it gets wearing/worrying but strangely he's not been ill at all for about a year.

Feeling a bit down here. No idea why. We are financially stable at last, we found a new flat that is lovely.

Actually I do know why. Probably. Worried about ds settling at school and finding friends. Am worried I drank too much coffee during pg and bf (I drank loads) and busted his circuits and he's got ADHD.

Also he is v probably deaf - prob glue ear - we are having a hearing test next week. I think that's holding him back socially.

All very woody Allen neurotic. Sorry.

Somelet is v heavy. We had a 16 month over at the weekend who weighed half her weight. It's like her bones are made of gold.

avalon I hope you are doing ok.

eagle hope you are too - what has Gp said?

Somewhere, don't beat yourself up, what is done is done and I have not really changed my diet because of BF at all. DS is a lovely boy, A is a very stubborn toddler and fussy eater compared to her bro. Are you sure he has ADHD ? He is just an energetic 4yo boy. I have read lately How to calm a challenging child, borrowed from the library and it is full of tips. DS was a bit difficult too this term but it is getting better now. Anyway I have learnt that they have to learn how to deal with frustration from an early age, giving in might make their life more miserable in the end as we all know life is constantly about compromise and frustration. I am also working on how to teach him patience and waiting, boredom and creativity.
Re school, I think Reception is the year when they make friends, learn social behaviour, give him time. He is still young, only 4. DS was the bookworm at the beginning of this term, he now spends less time in the reading corner because he is "no more scared of other children", his own words a few days ago and he is one of the eldest being born in Oct. try not to worry too much or talk to the teacher.
I too have hearing test for A on 12th Dec but with her cold and runny nose, don't know if it is going to work. Are you going to the audiology center near Archway ?
Saw GP for A, maybe a virus, she will come back to me after meeting paediatric. A fed on 1 boob and now asleep in her pushchair, it takes me 3 min to walk back home from surgery ! Can't believe.
Leaving tonight for Paris with a poorly baby.

Eagle, hope doctor gave you not too bad news

A is awake, have to go

Thanks bbd. All good advice. If you are reading those books then you must be having the same challenges as me. I need to do more reading and stop being neurotic. I am making big effort for ds to be strong. I know everything is basically ok it's just a sort of anxiety I guess. Well done to your ds for getting more confident.

It's been a while since I had a good old moan on here. I'm sure people missed it.

I haven't forgotten about avalon.

blueblackdye · 05/12/2013 13:10

No Avalon, we have not forgotten about you. Keep on talking to us if it helps. We have all dreaded the early and first scans.
Somewhere, a Mym told me she got her son to football classes because it helped making friends...
A woke up and fell back asleep on the 2nd boob

knottyhair · 05/12/2013 14:33

BBD, sorry A is unwell (although v.cute photo of her sleeping on FB!). And eating all that Vit C rich fruit can only help. Hope the funeral goes as well as it can.

Somewhere, there is always something to beat ourselves up about as mums. I drank coffee as well through both pregnancies and DS is fine, and so far, so is DD! Hope the hearing test goes OK. Oh, and the other thing to remember about boys is that they have a testosterone (sp.?) surge at 4 years old, which can really affect their behaviour. DS was almost like a different child at that time, but came out the other side. And I'm another one with a baby like a lead weight - really twinges my back picking her up. Trying to engage core etc. etc. but I guess it's only going to get worse and just makes me realise how old I am!
Rosa's now stirring from her lunchtime nap, and she'll need a snack before the school run, so I'd better go... Hope everyone else is OK, especially Eagle. Thinking of you Avalon.

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 14:48

Late to thread but so sorry about your difficult scan, Avalon. Please keep talking to us if it helps.

Been ill again. At this rate I will be a sylph by Christmas.

blueblackdye · 05/12/2013 16:41

Goat, like the sylph idea, although hope you get better soon.
Eagle, you ok ?

blueblackdye · 05/12/2013 16:42

Knotty, my back is killing me too. Lifting A up and down... Motherhood's lot, hey !

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 17:45

knotty and bbd my back tip is tense those abs esp when lifting. My back has been so bad today I'm walking around with a constant tense and its helped. Bad backs are often a weak tummy.

goat sorry you been ill. Are you mended? X

OP posts:
knottyhair · 05/12/2013 18:26

Thanks for the tip Somewhere. It does help, and I do a lot of ab exercises as part of my circuit training every morning, but I have a crap back!
Goat, that's rubbish, really hope you feel better soon. Hope Eagle is OK.

Financial security is a great feeling. What is the new flat like and when will you move i have a love hate relationship with moving. Love new beginning, hate leaving memories.

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 19:46

knotty my somelet weighs TWO STONE! Ds only got there aged three! How heavy is R?

OP posts:
somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 19:52

rosie love new thread idea. Wish avalon was coming with us.
Will you start it? You have a way with words describing sunny relaxed moments,

New flat has character. The kitchen extension has preserved the sash windows and glass door of the old rear and so you have indoor sash windows which I find magical, a bit where the wild things are - outdoors things coming indoors.

knottyhair · 05/12/2013 19:58

Rosie, lovely idea! Somewhere, I keep meaning to get her weighed, just out of curiosity but I think she's over 2 stone Blush. But I guess she is nearly a year old, and she's been at the top of the growth charts since she was a couple of months old. And your new flat sounds amazing Smile.

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 20:40

I've freaked myself out. I've looked at growth charts and Somelet weighs the same as an average 3 year old. Is there something wrong with her? I need to go to the doctor I think.

OP posts:
somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2013 21:09

She can't be 2 st. I need to take another look. Her length is about 80cm which is 'only' the length of an average 18 month old. Phew.

OP posts:
rosiedays · 05/12/2013 21:23

Sorry for split posts. .. sleep training with a dummy! !! My nipps are on the edge of giving up. I have to do something different.

some 4 year olds are hard work especially boys. I believe continuity of boundaries is so important at this age but such hard work to maintain. I have 2 dear friends who have had a tough time with their 4 year olds. The one who stuck to boundaries is reaping the rewards now they are older.

EagleRay · 05/12/2013 22:06

phew - finally sat down and can type...

Feeling a lot better thankyou - earlier in week I didn't feel well enough to leave the house, but yesterday we had to go out and about and I was still alive at the end of the day. Out again today and still feeling ok, so hoping ill health may be gone for a while. Hard to tell when supplements will make a difference but definitely feeling better. More blood tests early next week then will see doc again re liver (I don't think it's of much concern to GP though)

There is a new problem though - boobs have started really hurting and put it down to DD feeding all the time since she's been ill. Had her weighed today and HV noticed a spot of thrush in her mouth (kind of obvious given the antibiotics) and then of course the penny dropped - it's transferred to my boobs. Argghghh. So off to pharmacy to get a pile of gels, creams etc on prescription. So now around the clock we have antibiotics, cough medicine, teething remedies, multi-vitamins (her), multi-vitamins(me), vitamin D, anti-fungal (her), anti-fungal (me), calpol and ibuprofen.

And found out this eve I didn't even get an interview for that job so at least can draw a line under job hunting until Jan now. Felt a tiny bit sad as that was my one and only chance to work from home - there will never be another job advertised offering that (although as it turned out, they weren't as flexible about homeworking as I had been led to believe).

So that's all my piss and moan for the evening I think. Oh, and DP now thinks we should keep my vitamin D deficiency a secret as if FiL finds out he will blame my vegetarianism, which for some reason is a Big Issue for him (constantly asks if DD is being fed meat). FFS.

Avalon I'm so, so sorry your scan didn't go well. I know how upsetting that must have been for you. Really hope you are getting help and support and that you can cope over the next two weeks x

Somewhere is there a baby clinic you can take DD to get weighed? She looks perfectly normal so is bound to be somewhere within the normal range?

Goat sorry for constant illness. Hope you're better soon.

Bed now! Bracing myself as DD was a shocker last night

rosiedays · 05/12/2013 22:20

Just lost huge post :(
No energy to redo.
Lots of sleeping dust for all. Xx

knottyhair · 06/12/2013 05:36

Eagle, hope you get some relief now from the thrush. My niece got it from her DD and it was horrible, but did improve as soon as she got all the gubbins from the pharmacy. Sorry you didn't get the job, but as you say, if they weren't that flexible it could've caused more problems than it solved. Hope you've had a better night with DD.
Somewhere, I've seen baby Somewhere and there is nothing wrong with your beautiful girl! Did you weigh her yourself at home? When's the next HV clinic, just to put your mind at rest? I last took DD a few months ago and the HV asked if I had any other children - yes - and was your son.... a similar size? Yes, exactly the same weight at the same age, and now he's a long streak of the proverbial. "Oh, well, you obviously just have big babies, otherwise this would be a cause for concern Hmm. She then went on to tell me how she was like a mini sumo wrestler when she was a baby (very petite lady now), and that personally she thinks it's normal for some babies to be very chunky.

Rosie, how did the sleep training go last night?

rosiedays · 06/12/2013 08:51

I think it's me who needs the dummy sleep training. ... I gave in every time and boobed her, suffering again today!

Eagle hope the gubbins helps soon. With the job i really believe 'what's meant for you, won't go by you' something else will turn up

I have for the first time put 'milk shake' on the tv this morning (thought I'd see what happened!)well... She didn'?t move or take her eyes off the whole of fifi. Lost interest in pepper pig.
