A-ha, found you. Obviously not paying enough attention.

Happy birthday, baby M, plastic stuff always goes with small peoples' birthday/Christmas I think. Lovely post LRM.

I hope all the unwell people (babies and mums) are feeling a bit better.

Knicky, glad your Relate session went well, I hope the pampering afterwards was lovely.

Baby sparkly is a month old already (but still lacking a name). We are doing ok, I'm finding it much easier this time, she's feeding well and putting on weight. She's fast asleep on me at the moment as every time I've put her down this morning to try and get something (anything) done, she's woken up & started crying. But I've been enjoying the cuddles.

thanks to somewhere for the new thread and eagle for the great quote. I'll hopefully catch up properly over the weekend.

BTW we have managed to get back on track. Being firm and explaining again clear rules. DS still tries to get away with it but seems to have understood consequences. As a matter of fact, no iPad or TV or screen during the week, only at week ends, and 30 min max over the 2 days. Breakfast in the morning, loo, clean teeth and face, get changed and then Mummy can sit down with DS to read before going to school. No scooter on days with baby A but other days provided it does not rain, scooter. These have worked this week, won't add any new rule for another week or two.

have to go now for school pick up. Have a lovely week end every one

Happy birthday Baby Monkey!! And what a lovely post, LRM

Welcome Sparkly and Baby Sparkly - you have two weeks left to sort out a name (we finally sorted out name with minutes to spare before deadline, which I don't recommend).

Had a lovely day with the Seasides today Smile

Not been feeling so great this eve - I think my cold is wondering whether it's worth turning into something nastier or not. When I put DD to bed she coughed so much she threw up in her bed, and not long afterwards I sneezed so much I weed myself Blush

BBD, sounds like you're doing all the right things with your DS. Eagle, sorry you and your DD are feeling so rough. I nearly wee myself everytime I sneeze Blush.
Off to Crystal Palace Park today. We went back in March, when it was bloody freezing and Rosa was only tiny. I think she'll enjoy the animals on the farm now and DS can scoot round and burn off some energy!

Had a wnderful day in the park, ate onsite, A and DS were running all over the place, love London for its green open space ! Went home and made a flan au chocolat, yum !
DS's birthday in 3 weeks, what to do for a 5 yo who will have 5 other friends ? Don't want to stay home as their second name is destructors when together. But would a restaurant agree to have an entertainer hired by clients ? In a private dining space ? We will probably be 15 adults and 8 kids. Small party. Too small ? What do you think ?

bbd can you hire a church hall or room in a community centre? You do nor normally have to be q member, only pay a modest fee. (Good way of finding these is venues for toddlers etc during week.) Or tire them out with a treasure hunt in a park and races before meal?.Or I think Pizza Express used to do Make Your Own Pizza Parties; or they no longer do then sure others will do similar. Or a football party??

We should be able to see you at 1 Smile

A very belated happy first birthday baby M.

Coram fields looks amazing! It would prove too difficult for me to get to, the main line stations nearby aren't connected to my local station here. I hope you all have a fabulous time.

Have had a full weekend, including DDs 4th birthday party. By the time,it got to last night, I just wanted to lie down in a darkened room Grin

Baby kk woke hourly from 3 last night. He's got a cold today so not sure if that was the reason why. Met a woman last week who told me both her babies slept through from 10 weeks. Seriously, how?! She did employ a night nanny too as she found the early days of nightwaking 'stressful'. She looked absolutely floored when I said baby KK wasn't sleeping through and that DD took 14 months to figure it all out.

Relate sessions going ok. It's boiling down to DH struggling to tell me when something is wrong. We went out for a meal on Friday and it felt like we were dating again. I still feel very raw about the woman he met up with. Not least as she has an open profile on Facebook and appears to be very happily married with 2 young kids. Little does her husband know that she met with my DH 3 Times and was very forward in her emails to him. Sorry everyone, I promise to stop going on about my relationship, but sometimes I feel rage about what's happened and need,an outlet. I can't tell my day to day friends as me and DH are working our way through this.

Best go, I can hear DD playing with her imaginary friends upstairs (aka her cuddly toys) and about to start 'hairdressing'. Suspect her teddy bear probably needs saving before he gets a grade one fur cut.....

knickyknocks · 07/10/2013 09:23

PS BBD think scarecrow ideas are fab. Defo try and get a church hall, they're usually reasonably priced. The only struggle may be to get an entertainer at short notice. If that's the case, a treasure hunt in the local park (weather permitting!) and food would go down well!

Morning all

Feeling relatively normal today after a weekend of feeling very rough (sore throat, dizziness, aching body) - was terrified I had the same virus that I had when DD was a few weeks old (still traumatised from that) but thankfully I seem to have fought it off this time. DD at nursery this morning so beetling through my tasks, most of which are related to the naming day - only 5 days to go and so much to do!

I gave DP the reading I wanted him to do last night and he read it in a monotone then declared he didn't understand a word of it - f*ck me, I've got some work to do, haven't I...

The dress I chose for DD to wear has arrived in the post and is HUGE - goes right down to her feet! And is probably extra generous due to being a Scandi one. I think with a cardi over the top, she may just get away with it though.

Knicky glad to hear the relate sessions are going well, but you have every reason to feel upset and angry. I kind of feel it's a situation that me and DP could easily get into as he's a bit naive and doesn't always think about consequences. However, he's a very poor liar and is generally upfront about what's on his mind, even if it's not something I want to hear! It will take time for the trust to build again, but I hope you are stronger, closer couple for it.

One hour left before I collect DD now - time seems to be in fast motion when she's not around Hmm

Eagle I think I know where your virus went Sad. Though glad you feeling better. Actually think I'm over worst too. I've told body has to be as got lovely lunch date tomorrow and then pur meet on Weds so illness is banned!

Advice ladies: T has a cough. Not often, fairly irregular but sounds ghastly. he is eating and bf well and seems okay in himself and not listless and does not have a fever. Would you see a doctor or not?

Report
knottyhair · 07/10/2013 13:44

BBD, Scarecrow has great ideas for a party. I think for DS's fifth birthday, we hired a smallish soft play place which went down well. But he's a winter baby so the park wasn't really an option, which would obviously be cheaper!
Knicky, a happy belated birthday to your DD! Glad Relate is going well, really hope it all works out for you. Eagle, glad you're feeling better, that virus sounds horrible. I feel your pain re: naming day - there was no way DP was going to get up and do a reading, so I just arranged the readings without him! He's almost phobic about speaking in public so it wasn't worth me trying to persuade him. Good luck with it all though - looking forward to hearing all about it Smile. Scarecrow, sorry you've been so rough as well, and poor T! To be honest, re: seeing a doctor, if he seems fine in himself and is eating & drinking OK, I'd be inclined to wait a bit to see if he gets any worse. But if you can easily get an appt, it might be worth getting it checked - sorry, not much help really!
Re: Weds, one of my friends is taking DS to school so I should be able to get to Corams Fields for about 10.45-11? Those of us who haven't met, how will we know who we are?? Should I wear a red carnation Grin?

hmm spoke too soon - just been out to collect DD from nursery then went into town to get a few bits and pieces and was struck with the most horrible vertigo. Managed to drive home but then had to park quite a distance from the house and wobble to the front door with DD in her car seat and all the shopping. Thank god she's asleep as been recovering on the sofa and actually feel a lot better having had something to eat and drink, plus paracetamol.

Sorry you've had it too Scarecrow, and funnily enough DD has that cough too. It seems to be a leftover from her cold, which has gone on forever. She's generally ok during the day, apart from the occasional coughing fit (a couple of times she's thrown up with the coughing too) but at night it's terrible. Interestingly, DP seems to be better at settling her than I am (I've been too ill these last couple of nights to even wake up!). Haven't seen anyone about it yet but said to the nursery today to let me know if she coughed there and it sounded like it should be checked.

I've got a weaning question - DD was in nursery today between 8 and 12.45pm, during which time she had breakfast and lunch but no liquids (they offered but she wasn't keen). Up until now, I've been supplying a bottle of EBM but have now given up as she refuses a bottle. So clearly I need to get her used to drinking liquids from a cup, bottle etc. But what and how? We tried milk in a sippy cup at the weekend and she got a bit feisty, eventually whipping it out of our hands and tipping it upside down. I don't want to turn it into a battle, but clearly she's got to start drinking something!

For the meetup, how about name badges? or will the zimmer frames give it away Wink

Scarecrow have you done the thing of taking T into the bathroom and turning the shower on really hot so that he gets the steam? And a wet blanket over the radiator at night (assuming your heating is on, which it may not be!) it helps relieve BG a bit and we haven't done the dr yet..
