My stock ones are 1 & 2, but the other two make me smile so included them too, have always been:

  1. 'Absolute love, absolute boundaries' - for when DC's (ESP the teen bitAngry) being vile, driving me nuts, making me wish never bloody had them, &/or when facing really serious vile shit 'challenging' Grin
  2. 'This too shall pass' - for when positively frickin suicidal a tad overwhelmed Wink
  3. My newest one (from MN yest Grin) 'Perspective is ALL' Smile
  4. The one I tried (for, ooohh, a day or so until the next VERY eewweeyy dayBlush) but learnt to ignore a looooonnnnggggg time ago BlushBlushBlush - on basis of the VERY handy mantra Needs Must Wink - but if you say it's only me I will SOOOO know you're lyingWink... was the Sunday Times Columnist's fess-up one re Wine Wine Wine craving which she was succumbing to at about 5pmShockWink as her sanity saviour (ESP when at home with L'IL DC's all day) but to which she then created mantra of "No wine before 6 o'clock mummy" to resolve...(no, me too betting she off-loaded that mantra herself within a few weeks of writing it Grin)

Would LOVE to know yours??!! Grin Thanks

Mine is...

It's quite funny if you think about it

grants1000 · 22/01/2013 00:46

I used to go lock myself in the utility room for one track very loud in my ears on the ipod and lay down on the floor, just to get them out of my head and not hearing them for 5 mns (obvs they would be left safely) just needed some other noised other than children in my head for a while, worked wonders

AnathemaDevice · 22/01/2013 08:06

Mine is 'they'll leave home one day'

ducksinthedustbin · 22/01/2013 09:16

my child is not giving me a hard time, my child is having a hard time

.. but today I just want to bash my head against a wall Sad

attheendoftheday · 22/01/2013 11:27

It's just a phase.

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/01/2013 11:33

Remember, you are not managing an inconvenience. You are raising a human being.

StoicButStressed · 22/01/2013 11:35

I sometimes think the "they'll leave home one day" too Anathema ... and am then RIVEN with guiltBlush ... LOVE grants1000 one, but my utility room has very cold floor so not sure doable without some discomfort here? And poor ducksingthedustbin - here, have this Brew. Do love your mantra but the level of sainthood like patience tolerance needed for that one for days on end is realistically beyond me (am bad mamma!)

AnathemaDevice · 22/01/2013 16:12

I don't always mean that I'm looking forward to them leaving home (just sometimes!).

It's just a way of reminding myself that whatever horrible phase is happening, it won't be forever, and they'll be grown up and independent before I know it. I'll miss the little sodsdarlings when they do go, I'm sure.

RandallPinkFloyd Thanks for the reminder...

...In turn, I'll help you out by reminding you that you surely must have a sense of humour buried in there somewhere (as appears to have gone awol)? Is a light-hearted, gallows sense of humour thread, apols if that bothers you.. and if does, why read? Do though please be fully reassured that I ('I' being the operative word, as doing it alone) am well aware I am raising 'a' (aka 3 DSs) 'human being'. Suggest look at my other posts to see all I have managed as a parent? And hoping the awol SOH returns soon, as life just too short to have it away forever sweetiepie x

I thought Randall might have been speaking tongue in cheek apols if wrong.

Okay new one for me this week, facing DD(17). (O yes! You tthink it stops being stressy when they are older, wrong!!). After particular hair raising evening, hissed,
"You wait 'til you're a mum!"

A few assumptions there but in my defence I was a bit stressed.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 22/01/2013 17:43

Is the off license still open?

InNeedOfBrandy · 22/01/2013 17:43

Mine is 6pm They go to bed at 7/7:30 but if I'm having a hard day they have to be in their jamas and in their bedroom by 6. So on bad days I chant over and over again 6pm 6pm 6pm Grin

weegiemum · 22/01/2013 17:47

Yy to "this too shall pass" (dd1 is 13 in 2 weeks!!)

Anything you dont eat, Dad will!!!

lorisparkle · 22/01/2013 18:25

my friend says to me - don't moan about this phase the next one could be worse. not very reassuringGrin

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/01/2013 18:31

Blimey op keep your hair on.

It's a phrase I say to myself all the time, I thought that was what you were asking for Confused

And I'm an LP too so you can stick your pa bollocks where the sun don't shine.
