My stock ones are 1 & 2, but the other two make me smile so included them too, have always been:

  1. 'Absolute love, absolute boundaries' - for when DC's (ESP the teen bitAngry) being vile, driving me nuts, making me wish never bloody had them, &/or when facing really serious vile shit 'challenging' Grin
  2. 'This too shall pass' - for when positively frickin suicidal a tad overwhelmed Wink
  3. My newest one (from MN yest Grin) 'Perspective is ALL' Smile
  4. The one I tried (for, ooohh, a day or so until the next VERY eewweeyy dayBlush) but learnt to ignore a looooonnnnggggg time ago BlushBlushBlush - on basis of the VERY handy mantra Needs Must Wink - but if you say it's only me I will SOOOO know you're lyingWink... was the Sunday Times Columnist's fess-up one re Wine Wine Wine craving which she was succumbing to at about 5pmShockWink as her sanity saviour (ESP when at home with L'IL DC's all day) but to which she then created mantra of "No wine before 6 o'clock mummy" to resolve...(no, me too betting she off-loaded that mantra herself within a few weeks of writing it Grin)

Would LOVE to know yours??!! Grin Thanks

Mine are "Bollocks to it" and "It's wine o'clock!"

I have a couple of more now - "I love you and I always will, but I don't have to like you or your behaviour" and in response to the usual "it's not fair" whining I'm usually found saying "Life isn't fair, deal with it!".

I can be heard muttering "5 years" through my teeth several times a day.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 23/01/2013 00:55

My new one for 2013 is ' if it's not going to be important in 5 years time, then it's not important enough to stress about now'

Another one with 'its only a phase'
and also 'alcohol is the anaesthetic for the operation of life'
(which is a quotation, or paraphrase of a quotation, but its now very late and I cannot remember who I am trying to quote - and have foresworn alcohol from 1 Jan to 16 Feb, so at times life is currently somewhat painful - 14 and 16 year olds grappling with GCSE modules, controlled assessments, and Art and Textiles.....!)

this may sound strange but when i find myself in impossible situations I get a bit of DMX running through my head

"Im slipping, I'm falling I can't get up/ I'm slipping I'm falling I can't get up/ I'm slipping I'm falling I gotta get up/get bounce on my feet so i can tear shh up"

here

When tempted to brain DD (16) with the frying pan

"Remember, she'll be picking my nursing home"

Mind you, she's been known to use it as a threat - my reply is usually "Make sure it's one with wine"

No worries, no harm - no foul!

Really sorry to hear about your mum.

Blush Gives Randall bucketload of apologies! My fault, I totally misread it... is prob reflection on me/shitty morn (up at 6am for snow shovelling school run, followed by heartbreaking visit to my emaciated & now drifting in and out of consciousnessSad dying Ma followed by getting home to a mail from darling ExH solely asking how soon we can sell her flatAngry).

...as of COURSE it was 'your' phrase' as opposed to the 'pull-up' I thought it was. Just failed see it

And I know all LP's do great job btw, my ref to other posts was that it's been under fairly extreme and horribly vile circs and DS1 & DS2 could have ended up in very bad places had I NOT managed some of the stuff I've done, so was sort of pointing you to those as genuinely thought you thought I was taking my parental job as trivial (which so don't - hence need for bloody gallows humour at times!). Sorry...

Well now that's sorted can I offer another, "They'd be up chimneys a 100 years' ago" muttered darkly by old neighbour back in chiildhood.

It's just a phase (every day)
This too shall pass (every day)
I love you but I don't always like you (when dc are being totally vile)
Comparison is the thief of joy (when I succumb to comparing myself with others)
Life is full of sorrow (when they are complaining yet again about something totally silly)

And I'm an LP too so you can stick your pa bollocks where the sun don't shine.

I thought Randall might have been speaking tongue in cheek apols if wrong.

Okay new one for me this week, facing DD(17). (O yes! You tthink it stops being stressy when they are older, wrong!!). After particular hair raising evening, hissed,
"You wait 'til you're a mum!"

A few assumptions there but in my defence I was a bit stressed.

RandallPinkFloyd Thanks for the reminder...

...In turn, I'll help you out by reminding you that you surely must have a sense of humour buried in there somewhere (as appears to have gone awol)? Is a light-hearted, gallows sense of humour thread, apols if that bothers you.. and if does, why read? Do though please be fully reassured that I ('I' being the operative word, as doing it alone) am well aware I am raising 'a' (aka 3 DSs) 'human being'. Suggest look at my other posts to see all I have managed as a parent? And hoping the awol SOH returns soon, as life just too short to have it away forever sweetiepie x

I don't always mean that I'm looking forward to them leaving home (just sometimes!).

It's just a way of reminding myself that whatever horrible phase is happening, it won't be forever, and they'll be grown up and independent before I know it. I'll miss the little sodsdarlings when they do go, I'm sure.

StoicButStressed · 22/01/2013 11:35

I sometimes think the "they'll leave home one day" too Anathema ... and am then RIVEN with guiltBlush ... LOVE grants1000 one, but my utility room has very cold floor so not sure doable without some discomfort here? And poor ducksingthedustbin - here, have this Brew. Do love your mantra but the level of sainthood like patience tolerance needed for that one for days on end is realistically beyond me (am bad mamma!)
