I've been scouting around the site for a few weeks, looking for info on parentnig issues (soon to be stepmother) and I was wondering how do you bear to talk like this about your family members? What's wrong with you all??

DH etc, is commonly used internet shorthand that has been around forever and not specific to mumsnet. Probably originated in the U.S. and yes, a bit sickly if you take it literally. But I don't think most people do think of it literally.
Mine DC all little fuckers and DH is a wanker.

MajesticWhine · 07/12/2012 20:25

Sorry I mean "my DC are all little fuckers" - must stop drinking now

I see you went with someone else's idea for your namechange, then Chipping, hmm?

DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn · 07/12/2012 20:27

I certainly found out what you guys are like today, its a shame the sane ones are in such a minority

And you clearly aren't one of them.

Shakey1500 · 07/12/2012 20:28

Being an actor I call most people darling, a ridiculous amount of times during the day. Though obviously in RL it's elongated into a trés bohemian-esque "DHAAALLLLLIIIINKKK" at least, it is in my head

I've never call my nearest and dearest it though. Fuckers Wink

SDTGisAChristmassyWolefGenius · 07/12/2012 20:28

You said you thought Woolly Hugs was a joke. And when shown how genuine it is, you did not come back and admit that that comment was wrong. So yes, people think you are taking the piss out of something that mumsnetters do to offer some comfort to bereaved mumsnetters and their families, and to sick children, and the parents of stillborn babies.

madwomanintheattic - you have to remember that it is far easier to make jokes about knitting than to take part in something like Woolly Hugs. Xmas Hmm. And I doubt we will ever see Andula over on one of the blanket threads, even though she could participate by donating yarn, if she doesn't know how to knit or crochet.

I give up, thank you to those who have a brain and a sense of humour. The others give this place a bad name.

Oh gies peace and don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out

ArielTheBahHumbugMermaid · 07/12/2012 20:39

But, Andula could you explain why you think that mocking people who are trying to offer comfort to people who are bereaved proves you have a sense of humour? Because I am genuinely perplexed.

Give MN a bad name? I couldn't even give ChippingIn a bad name Angry

IceNoSlice · 07/12/2012 20:40

Great post STDG (I'm a bit behind).

Sorry OP, I just don't get your humour. I do, however, get MN humour and have properly laughed on many occasions. If you want to see the funnier side of MN, check out the classics section.

SDTGisAChristmassyWolefGenius · 07/12/2012 20:41

Well - if I am giving Mumsnet a bad name by talking about all the good it does, and by contributing to the blankets, I can live with that. It's better than sneering and being nasty.

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 07/12/2012 20:42

I give up
Yay! Ta ta

Strawhatpirate · 07/12/2012 20:43

Please don't make fun of wooly hugs. You are being incredibly mean spirited to mock something which brings people comfort in the worst time of their lives. People give put time and love into wooly hugs Angry

ChippingInAWinterWonderland · 07/12/2012 20:48

Tethers I am so so so sorry

I did apologise on the thread

I did like it, but I like ChippingIn at the beginning, not the end and I couldn't deal with anything else bleak!

Would Wine help you to forgive me

SDTGisAChristmassyWolefGenius · 07/12/2012 20:48

I will forgive you for wine, Chipping! [hopeful]
