Can I join please? DS 2.1, DD 7 weeks.

I literally feel like going upstairs and shaking with stress under the duvet today. This is bloody HARD. Tell me it's not just me.

Offcolour · 30/05/2013 16:18

It's soooo not just you stripedmum.

One of my coping mechanisms is to go into another room and shake my fists and do silent screaming.

Or shut the door and lie on the floor for a while.

It does get easier, first three months is super tough Smile.

Stripedmum · 30/05/2013 16:22

Thank you offcolour. I count the hours down until DH home. I promised I would never do this...this morning I looked a the clock after feeling like I'd been up with them hours. It was half fecking nine. I wanted to cry. Turns out I didn't have time.

Friend dame around today with her DS and all my DS dd was hit and be generally outrageous. I'd been looking forward to a nice cuppa but all I did was discipline DS with a boob hanging out. Good job she's a good mate. Jeez!

Oh stripedmum Sad - handholding and lots of Wine for you. God the early weeks are just so so so tough. Just do whatever it takes to get through. And tricky behaviour from the toddler is perfectly normal. Partly just being a toddler, partly new sibling.

You will survive! One day at a time. Oh, and the nights...

Stripedmum · 30/05/2013 20:56

Thank you Crazy - I needed to hear that. It's sooooooo hard - actually I should rephrase that; I'm finding it so hard.

I just feel so on edge and stressed all day - I thought I had an anxiety problem...but I have a hunch this is just actually how it feels to be a mum to a baby and a toddler!

Offcolour · 30/05/2013 21:15

I get panic attacks and pains in my chest from being so stressed out and tired! No- one tells you how hard it will be! Everyone else seems so calm, nice to have this thread so you know it isn't just you Smile.

Honestly though, first few weeks are all about surviving. It's still really hard, but I feel much more in control of things (with the notable exception of toddler dd).

crazypaving · 31/05/2013 08:36

definitely. just survive however you can! it is easier now but I still find the days a marathon of stress and anxiety. think it's partly my personality type though. I never imagined going from one to two would be this hard.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 10:00

Already looking forward to my evening run and glass of wine...it's going to be a long old day.

Offcolour · 31/05/2013 10:26

If you're managing an evening run you're doing really well! I keep meaning to dust off my running shoes, absolutely zero energy in the evening though.

crazypaving · 31/05/2013 12:38

evening run? heaven preserve my pelvic floor.

I am having a shocking day. there isn't enough chocolate in the world.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 13:21

I was in such a terrible mood last night. Practically three the children at DH, went for a run, felt much better.

I just can't believe how stressed and anxious I am ALL day.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 13:21
  • threw not three
Offcolour · 31/05/2013 13:48

Oh crazy. Hope it gets better. Mine is on the shittier side too.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 13:58

Crazy!! Ha ha! I ran into the kitchen earlier and stuffed two three Blue Ribands into my gob.

Is there a medal at the end of all this or not then? Cos if not I'm seriously considering running back to work and finally admitting defeat...

Offcolour · 31/05/2013 14:12

I remember doing that in the early days striped, runnin into the kitchen and literally stuffing handfuls of chocolate in my mouth!

Now I'm on a diet Blush.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 14:21

How bizarre the things stress makes you do! Just wish it was wine rather than chocolate. Mmmm wine. Four and a half hours and counting until my glass of heaven.

crazypaving · 31/05/2013 14:23

yes to stress eating! I've resorted to having no chocolate in the house

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 14:25

Grin Blue Ribands are scraping the barrel to be fair.

Offcolour · 31/05/2013 14:29

Me too crazy, except I sometimes sneak one of dd's bribe chocolate buttons.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 14:30

Ahh bribe choccy.

Stripedmum · 31/05/2013 20:00

Jog done, hot bath, meditating, now off for a glass of wine. Starting to feel human.

Offcolour · 01/06/2013 18:41

Lovely day, gardening in the sunshine watching the swallows, playing with dd, BBQ then I actually managed a run! Not far and certainly not fast, but I did it Smile. And the garden looking really nice.

Starting to feel like I'm living again rather than just existing.

Hope the weekend is going well for every

Stripedmum · 01/06/2013 23:25

Excellent news offcolour - well done for the run!! I bet you felt so much better for it?

Is feeling on edge throughout the day a normal part of all this or not? How many of you suffer with anxiety?

eversomuch · 02/06/2013 05:53

Congrats to everyone managing a run in this gorgeous weather. Thought DH & I might do the same yesterday, but no luck. On the plus side, got DS to go back to sleep at his 5am wakeup, so I got to sleep from 6-8am. Trying to do the same now. Honestly, I think the days would be fine no matter what if only I could sleep undisturbed until 7am everyday. These early starts kill me.

I can't get through the day without chocolate. However, I have banned biscuits & other sweets from the house. Mostly. Unless they're homemade.

Offcolour · 02/06/2013 06:27

Me too ever long! I'm a meanie and i feed ds when he wakes up around 6 then put him back in bed and he'll normally roll about and chatter for ages then go back to sleep.

Dh tried to give him a bottle last night for a night feed - he screamed the place down! Maybe he needs to get more used to bottles during the day....? I ended up just feeding him because he was so upset poor lad. Couldn't get back to sleep so zombie at the moment. Fingers crossed he goes back to sleep soon.
