I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Notgrownupinmyhead · 19/11/2012 19:27

Thank chuff for that!! Glad you are both doing great!! Bear and a packet of Biscuit with Brew well done you! Now the fun begins Smile xx

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/11/2012 20:19

Congratulations Pidj! What a long labour, well done! Hope you're enjoying lovely baby snuggles right now.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/11/2012 20:21

Ps I had an email from FillYour Pants yesterday, buy one get one half price on lots of stuff, not sure exactly what or when it ends as haven't checked it out yet but thought I'd share!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/11/2012 21:00

Just ordered two blueberry popper wraps from FYP, giraffe print and monkey print, wanted the owls but they were sold out. £18.75 for the two. Feel a bit extravagant but I have been very restrained in my fluff-buying generally... Better crack on and get pg with no 2 to justify the expense!

Been catching up on the thread, BFG that must have been quite a shock that your little boy is actually a little girl!when are you due, was it the 20 wk scan?

Oops dd waking up.... Got to go...

Notgrownupinmyhead · 19/11/2012 22:36

Hi Biscuitcrumbs, Ive not bought any fluff for months.

One 1 or 2 of my Cheapies the PUL coating or whatever it is has come away from the fabric, has this happened to any of you?

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 13:18

Are they Alva nappies 3.0? All mine are, and all are fine. I think anyway. Being pockets and minky I have not looked at the PUL. I will do later. All in washer. Do you tumble?

I must not buy any more fluff.

The size 3 LL seem no more absorbent and the size 1s are not absorbent enough. Need two bamboo boosters. I must finish my liners as I hate swilling out the bamboo nappies.

My home made wipes are fab. I am using a bit of baby lotion in the water and they clean better and smell yummy.

LeBFG · 20/11/2012 13:27

How's the endless nappy changing going VQ? Bf poo is much less yucky to deal with! Do the size 3 LL fit well (in the rise)?

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 13:42

The size 3s fit well. Plenty big enough for fat bum. I am getting a bit sick of washing sodding nappies tbh but his bum is so much better with them, but as it is pissing down constantly and he shits and pees for scotland, and I am exhausted, I may have a nappy holiday for a day or two. I am meant to be expressing too but just do not have the time.

Any tips for winding? What do you guys believe in giving, if anything? DS would sleep great if it were not for wind I believe.

LeBFG · 20/11/2012 14:01

DS had a lot of digestion ishoos I remember. Not a whole lot could be done apart from hoiking him against a shoulder, gentle patting and a lot of pacing up and down. Have you got a rocking chair? These are good for giving your legs a break. Remember, although only you can feed J, others can wind. Pass him around Smile.

Washing nappies: FGS - give yourself a break. You're doing so much already. Prioritise your tasks. I'd be putting washing nappies down at 3 or 4 after feeding yourself, feeding J, winding J, getting out and having a break, grabbing a nap. Err, that put nappies down at 6th place. Anyway, you see my point.

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 14:03

A very good point too!

LeBFG · 20/11/2012 14:11

If you've got 1/4 hour check this VQ and Pidj.

I want to find out if my DD will say these things!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 20/11/2012 14:40

Good tips re winding BFG, nothing to add here, DD was a windy baby and I used to get DH / my mum / whoever was passing to walk round patting her back while I had a snooze! Take care of yoursf VQ, maybe use disposables every other day? Or at night? Inthis weather gettingeverything dry is a nightmare andyou don't need more jobs to do!

LeBFG · 20/11/2012 14:49

Oh yes VQ. I also remember a great tip my friend told me. You know young babies have that terrible period 5-9pm-ish where they just cry and cry? Well, she said this is because babies are gearing up for the night - they want to stock up on milk. Stick on breast, continuously during this period if needs be. Although debilitating in a way, it gave my mind a break from the crying. I did bf in a sling too so I could carry on doing certain things during this time. Not so easy when you have a toddler in tow though!

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 15:49

Hmm. Interesting programme. I recognise a few of them if not all, but telling them apart is tricky. Thank you Smile

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 15:52

He does not really do the evening frantic feeding. There is no pattern. He can be fine one day and dreadful the next. May be my diet. He is shattered this afternoon but will not settle. On boob at present. It is very hard with a 6yo and 2yo.

LeBFG · 20/11/2012 16:39

My friends bf for much shorter times with each successive child! I look forward to that new challenge in March. At the moment, just things like changing DS is a nightmare. Sometimes all I have to say is 'time to change your nappy' and off he trots to the changing area. Mainly though, it's a great fight and a very wiggly baby on the mat Hmm. I need some baby pins Grin.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 20/11/2012 20:49

Im not sureVQ as I bought them off someone who had them for a week and couldn't get into the fluff thing. I had tumbled them a few times but been hung on the airer mostly. Its the second one its happened to but am still using them til they leak.

To wind Dave I sit him on my knee facing me with my left hand under his right arm pit and so his weight is supported by that hand then pat/rub his back. Windy herberts run in my family. I blame my Dad.

ValiumQueen · 20/11/2012 21:18

It is a nightmare changing DD, but better now than when pg. today she has been taking her nappy off. DH got the ruddy potty out! And my mum has been giving her nappy free time and letting her sit on her loo. Not up to you people! I am the one who has to deal with the fallout. Literally!

Alva nappies are mostly minky and have three poppas securing it at both sides and are birth to potty. I loves them.

PurplePidjin · 20/11/2012 21:33

We have breast feeding :o

We also love the stretchy wrap :o

And as soon as we get home I'll give him a fat fluffy bum :o

But first I'm going to enjoy being looked after in the Birth Centre for a few days!
