I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Excellent!!

Im the only one in this area. Theres a few in the surrounding post codes though but haven't met any yet.

Should get the scarf and tie it to the nappy bag. Wink

That is true a parents way is the best way.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/10/2012 20:10

Ive got one MN'r on me FB page.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 20:17

I've got loads, but all met through here then added there. Never outed anyone (and wouldn't, although not entirely bothered myself iyswim) It helps that i have mega privacy set because of youth working.

I wouldn't out any either. You can have a right rant and that on here and be a different side of you on there. My settings are like that too cos of all the kids pics and some of the friends that we had (police and army) but they're all on his page now (used to share page).

fudge74 · 28/10/2012 21:43

Love Coby as a shortening of Jacob. We use Jacobub as a made-up familiar version. My DD's name I chose when I was 10 (many moons ago!) as it was in a book at school - her name is Keziah - it was in The Diddakoi. I'm so pleased that DH consented, I still can't believe she is really here! And she is 8 months now...[hgrin]

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/10/2012 21:48

Fudge, that is a really nice name. Grin

ValiumQueen · 29/10/2012 12:39

Keziah is cool!

I will be buying size one LLs in the sale at the weekend, if they have any. Would folk recommend bamboo, microfibre or cotton? He wee's a fair bit, but will have frequent bum changes so thinking microfibre for quick drying. I have some little square bamboos if needed.

I have not forgotten about the liners notgrown. Just a tad busy at present.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 29/10/2012 15:15

Oh god they can wait!! Grin

You've more important stuff to be getting on with.

Is microfibre dry on the skin? Newboy is a right wee machine and soaked by morning. Boosting with an insert didnt make much difference. Hmm

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 29/10/2012 19:42

Belated congrats to VQ on baby Jacob! Love the name. Smile at him weeing on his own face poor little mite, must have given himself a shock! Hope you're recovering ok fromthe section and your dds are enjoying having a baby brother! fudge I love your dd's name, so envious you got to choose, my DH vetoed anything even slightly unusual. I'm Welsh and no welsh names were allowed either

fudge74 · 29/10/2012 22:27

Awww thanks guys! My only naming regret was our middle one, Samuel - should have called him Samwise instead, more unusual by far and more appropriate as he is a little hobbit!!

VQ don't buy the bamboo unless you have good drying facilities, they take ages especially if they are new and the elastic is very gathered making it very bulky around the elastic. Mine took 2-3 days to dry, on a ceiling airer, but in a quite cold room. Go for microfibre I have one of those and it is good for short (2-2 1/2 hour) wears. That's what I would suggest. Then get some bamboo boosters for inside (they dry more quickly).

HTH!

Biscuit what a shame about your vetoing DH - I think it is good to have something a bit different especially for girls (speaking as a person with a very common name myself! [hsad]).

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 08:44

Well, DS is 6 days old and I fecking hate huggies disposables. They are the smallest size now, having bought some that were too big, and they will barely contain one wee, and his bum is sore.

The microfibre LL size 1s may not be absorbent enough and I am guessing need a liner. I am going to put a fuzzi small on him soon and see how the fit is. I remember using them on DD1 at this age. She was not so long, plus he has not regained all his weight yet, hence day at the sodding hospital yesterday and them wanting to admit us to observe my feeding. I have fed two kids fine before. They want me to supplement with formula too. No way! Do they not know I am a lentil weaver?

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 08:51

He is in a small fuzzi. Too big for him on smallest setting. He is pear shaped. Feels good.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 31/10/2012 09:04

Have you got a nappy library nearby? It's a bugger me and my prefolds are so far [hsad] or could you grab some cheap terries from Tesco?

LeBFG · 31/10/2012 10:49

Yes, was going to suggest terries to Purple. They'll fit down to (almost) any size. Nippa them up. Jobs a goodun.

VQ, he's only 6 days old. They don't start regaining until day 8 normally, don't they? Considering milk doesn't come in usually til day 3 they have a lot to catch up on. If he's peeing, he's definately taking in milk so it's just a matter of time. I get so annoyed arguing with health professionals!! They are very precautionary in France too. My friend was painfully engorged and they kept her in a week until they saw some improvement - she has two other DC to care for and nothing wrong with her or baby!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 31/10/2012 10:56

Oh no VQ stick to your guns with feeding, I hope there's proper bf support at your hospital not just midwives, maybe speak to a bf counsellor if you need back up? Hope DS chubs up soon, I'm sure he will. Good idea re terries, or maybe muslins, I know some people use them on newborns. Would a folded muslin with a bamboo booster tucked in somehow be too complicated?!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 31/10/2012 10:58

And thanks fudge - if there's a next time, I'll sneak off to the registry office and give it a totally unpronounceable welsh name hehe...

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 11:01

They routinely weigh on day 6 so age 5 days. They only weigh bf babies. If more than 10 percent loss then into hospital. He had lost 11 per cent. I had a section. He was born in the afternoon. He was weighed after a pee and poo and when due a feed. I was quite angry and very upset afterwards. No clinical concerns whatsoever, just one frigging percent which should have been negated by a feed. I should not have had to go through that, let alone my son. I missed lunch and dinner, had to get a lift, arrange childcare, walked far too far etc. Missed painkillers.

But boy is in pink LL OSFA. Too big. May leak. Used washable wipes too.

Will look for library.

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 11:07

I never dreamed I would have a skinny baby. I am fairly chubby and was told my baby would be huge, now am being criticised for failing to provide adequate nourishment for my fit healthy boy. Oh the irony. I had a wobble yesterday but am ok now. He slept last night too. From 12 to 3 then 4 to 6. Not bad I reckon. Cosleeping too as he will not be away from me. Must buy lentils and dig out wrap.

Thanks for advice.

LeBFG · 31/10/2012 13:11

Never say never, as they say! He sounds a very contented little baby.

I understand what you mean about the weighing business. I had that little trial for three weeks while DS was tube fed and one week while he was taking my milk direct from source. He was getting max fluids from day 1 and still lost the full 10pc. He only started gaining again at 8 days. They weren't a bit worried.

With regards to your DS, we're only talking about 4 grams or so either way aren't we? Like you say, there's only a widdle in it. Seems like they are over reacting. I wish they could see how this unnerves/annoys mothers!

thereinmadnesslies · 31/10/2012 13:18

Hi ladies, sorry to crash your thread. I used tots bots rainbow nappies and motherease wraps for DS1 when he was small in 2006, but for various reasons gave up on them after a couple of months. They are all immaculate still, in a box in my loft. Is there any point in trying to sell them? And if so, where It seems like there are so many more reusables on the market and I've not seen anyone selling the type I have on the facebook preloved cloth nappies page. Otherwise I'm on a decluttering mission so they will be binned!

LeBFG · 31/10/2012 13:21

Definately don't bin!! Motherease resell well because the are popular and expensive new. Don't know about the tots bots though. Check out finished auctions on ebay for an idea on prices.

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 13:30

40g. Not 4, so perhaps a wee and a poo and a feed in it, but still not big amounts.

thereismadness never bin! Even my old nappies get cut up and used for something else!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 31/10/2012 13:57

And they are trying to promote BF? My god VQ. Sounds like hes and you were doing just fine until they stuck their oars in.

I threw some lentils away last night, should've wove them into a mooncup.

DS2 had his 1yr jabs yesterday and he screamed until I gave him white choc buttons. Sad

DS3 has thrush on his lite bum (had his 6w check y/day) and the cream they gave me seems to work. Double boosted last night and that works and will put him back in the pockets in a few days.

Ooh, don't chuck 'em! Ive still got to cut up the shaped terries yet to use for boosters. They wouldn't sell on Ebay.

Did anyone read that story about a month or so ago where this woman had her little girl taken off her by SS because they thought she had burned her, turned out it was the absorbent gel in the nappies she was in leaked and burned all the skin on her legs. Sad

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 18:50

I remember that story and seem to recall that there was more to it than that. They had not sought treatment for it for several days. It was actually that story that prompted me to research putting DD2 in cloth at night.

Sorry DS has thrush.

I have been really paranoid about Jacob today. He is feeding fabulously, and is making the Fuzzis soaking wet in 2 hours. They are a bit big, but with a vest I have not had any leaks. It is lovely having a tiny cloth bum again. I just wish I was not so upset by yesterday's events. I convinced myself he had CF earlier. Bloods were fine, so highly unlikely.

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2012 18:55

Can someone talk to me about willy care? DH was circumcised as a nipper. He is concerned his boy will have the same tight foreskin problem yesterday he went to retract it and I said not to. He thinks you should to keep it clean. I think it is self cleaning.
