I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

So keep my eyes peeled for boosters.... Got it Smile

I like my microfibre because its so dam fluffy but won't be having anymore because other than that there pants haha!

LeBFG · 27/10/2012 07:47

The fleece lollipops I have aren't very absorbant. My DS pees a lot now. But they have their place - I boost with bamboo and they last perhaps 2-2.30 hours. I use when I'm at home (a lot at the minute) and change regularly. They are just so quick to dry it helps to spread out the longer lasting bamboo and Wizard Duo's.

NumptyDumty · 27/10/2012 08:36

Agree BFG it is nice to have quick drying things, especially now it's colder! I've started to tumble for 30 mins before hanging up, otherwise everything bamboo could be drying for days and my stash unfortunately isn't big enough for that!

Does anyone use fleece at night? I know there was talk about making your own but just wondered if anyone had done it yet?!

We have fleece tots bots wrap that we have used at night time, it stays dry, the problem is everything smells like wee in the morning, his babygrow, the sheets, and blanket..... It's like although it doesn't leak the smell does.

Is this just something you put up with?

I also read somewhere it doesn't need washing each time, I couldn't bear to put it back on him as it stinks stale, Confused

I'm manky in general but couldn't put up with that sort of smell, no way! I wouldn't put up with it on me so I don't think I should put up with it on DS's behalf. I figure if they don't perform then they don't deserve to be used. Something like that anyway Smile.

fudge74 · 27/10/2012 12:12

Oh - the night time wee smell! I just started using fluff at night, and it is amazing how strong the smell is, and that is using a pocket nappy with microfibre or bamboo boosters. I agree about LL, the best product is the bamboo booster!
The fleece wraps do smell after one use, I had some newborn sized ones and I thought they were great, till I realised they would ahve to be washed after every use, unlike normal wraps. I am a total pocket nappy convert, now! Just boosting my paypal credit by selling on ebay, so I can buy some more Grin

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 27/10/2012 12:14

I has stretchy sling thing!! Thanks, NotGrown Thanks

ValiumQueen · 27/10/2012 16:49

I have a baby boy, born Thursday. Jacob Ian John. 9lb 1/2oz. Utterly beautiful. Just home from hospital. Not caught up, but will when I can! I also have three fleece wraps!

LeBFG · 27/10/2012 17:14

Hey VQ. Big congrats Thanks Thanks.

Glad to hear all went well.

Decided on Jacob in the end then? This is one of the names we're considering. I think it's a beautiful name. Enjoy your baby!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 27/10/2012 17:22

Congratulations VQ Thanks

Notgrownupinmyhead · 27/10/2012 20:32

Yay! Congrats VQ!!!!! Bear for Jacob. Beautiful.

Coolio Purple.

Its just me and new boy on the sofa. Grin X Factor. Blush

The rest are upstairs. His legs are still a bit red from the pockets rubbing bless his little chicken legs.

No roll offs from boy2 today. Sad

Are microfibre liners more on the skin than fleece?

fudge74 · 27/10/2012 21:01

Wow - BIG congratulations VQ what good news! Thanks
Jacob is a great name - my DS1 is called Jacob Barney Smile. Sounds like your Jacob was pre-chubbed as well, as you predicted. Well done you, hope you are getting lots of support and your other DCs are coping with the new addition?

Purple, good luck with your sling, they are great!

Not Grown Up - no roll offs for me today either, DD is producing rather soft poo at the mo, how lovely! All the nappies are looking horribly stained, too. She would NOT let me lie her down last night, spent about 5 hours feeding and cuddling her (got through lots of 50 shades at the same time tho! Blush).

I have a book on Bicarbonate of Soda, and it suggests washing nappies with 1/2 cup of bicarb to soften and brighten them. I'm going to try it, will let you know if it works.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 27/10/2012 22:30

Darn wriggly milk monsters Grin

It seems to be the fit not being snug enough rather than the texture of the nappies, bit like loose shoes rubbing.

I do like the sound of the book though !!

Barney is a cool name Grin

Dreading the moros poops - sweetcorn and the spag bol was a bit greasy cos this bellend forgot to drain the mince. Tool.

NumptyDumty · 28/10/2012 08:16

Congratulations VQ Jacob is a beautiful name Thanks

Agreed BFG, we have used it a handful of times each hoping the next wouldn't be so bad, but it always is, oh well we tried and failed!

Fudge, if the bicarbonate doesn't work we are meant to be in for some sunshine this week Smile

ValiumQueen · 28/10/2012 12:02

I felt a bit silly in the hospital. I bought size 3 disposables as my other babies were huge, and I figured he would be 11lb or so. He is actually really long and skinny, so nappies designed for his weight allegedly, are down to his ankles Blush. I will have to buy some little disposables until I am fit, and may just need to get some size 1 LL bamboo in their sale. Thank you for the heads up.

Cannot wait to get him in fluff as disposables look so harsh on new baby skin especially. He is feeding well, and poos are getting lighter in colour. He has weed over me and daddy, and even in his own face, but today we seem to bee more adept with the two of us. How embarrassing for a woman on child no.3!

ValiumQueen · 28/10/2012 12:04

Jacob was a last minute decision by DH. I suggested it 6 years ago, so said yes immediately. It really suits him. Likely shorten it to Coby (wan Kenobi) to friends and family.

ValiumQueen · 28/10/2012 12:05

As in the name Jacob. Baby Jacob was a complete suprise to both of us!

ValiumQueen · 28/10/2012 12:05

Sleep and fluff deprived, clearly.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 12:38

VQ, i have 4-10lb cotton bottoms wraps+prefolds if you're near enough for a delivery. You're welcome to a borrow if you like - I'll be in Poole on Tuesday and Southampton on Wednesday for other reasons if that helps you're probably in the Outer Hebrides but never mind eh

ValiumQueen · 28/10/2012 12:45

PP central Scotland! Thank you, but a bit far to pop for coffee eh Grin I have some little bamboo squares to play with, and he will soon chunk up with my gold top milk.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 12:57

A little bit [hwink] Shame because i reckon that size will only last a couple of weeks even on the tiddler I'm likely to produce (family of short arses)

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/10/2012 15:52

Ive liked the LL page thank you, will get some bamboo night boosters (and the rest Grin) newboys skin is quite damp in the morning so will be experimenting later with inserts on the outside of the nappy between that and the wrap.

Glad to hear you're both doing well VQ!

Yo PP have you had a look on Youtube for wrap tying?

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 15:54

I've been to the slingmeet a couple of times and learned [hblush]

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/10/2012 17:35

Excellent. Did they cover all the sterotypical items listed below? Wink

They all think Im mad round these parts using fluff. Grin

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 19:34

Nope, all surprisingly normal - there were buggies present, and the bfers treated the ffers like Normal People [hshock]

First rule of sling meet - your way is the best way to parent

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 28/10/2012 19:35

I suspect the organiser of being an MNer, too - it's one of her likes on farcebook!
