I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Leading us astray fudge I have plenty of nappies. I have plenty of nappies I have plenty of nappies. I have plenty of nappies. I have plenty of nappies.

fudge74 · 18/10/2012 19:45

gosh just re-read my post and it reads like those iffy enails you get on hotmail sometimes! sorry ladies! just wanted to get the link on asap.
loving the names VQ - they are all great. We took weeks to decide with all 3 of ours, but went for original first names, and ancestral middle names.

Sssssttttooooooooopoppppppp.

Is there such a thing as too many nappies??

ValiumQueen · 18/10/2012 19:47

There is such a thing. Step away from eBay!

LeBFG · 18/10/2012 20:01

Thanks for reminding me about ebay fudge - there was an item I wanted to bid on before 9pm Smile. I'm forever forgetting - I like to leave my bid for the last few minutes or people have the time to carry on edging up their bids little by little. So annoying!

French names, humm. I don't like lots of the popular names in France at the moment. Enzo, Matheo, Leo, Lucas, Nemo, Milo (lots ending in o). I love the older names like Yves (personal fav), Antoine, Flavian, Pascal, Leon (my DS). On a completely random note, I had a wonderful friend called Kamal and would have loved this for a DS except the French are arab-phobe. Other vetoed ones I really loved were: Xavier, Rubens and Ethan (from Brittany).

fudge74 · 18/10/2012 20:23

I'm selling more than I am buying at the mo, or that is the plan if mine actually sell - don't worry ladies I know you all have enough already Grin.

Funnily enough on the DH front, I've been phasing out the velcro ones as DH does not close them properly before the wash (leaving me to detangle them all before hanging them out Angry), the popper ones don't cause the same problem, but I'm noticing that when he does the change, he prefers the velcro!! I suppose we should alternate, then it's always me who takes the velcro ones off

DD is getting so chunky, I'm nearly on the outside popper on most of my pocket nappies now - I hope she just gets longer from now on, otherwise my stash won't last the distance!

[happily typing with two hands for a change but it's making me go on with myself emoticon]

Fudge dont post your links. Wink

Nappies that were washed today smell nice n fresh. Just needed stripping or my hormones have settled...

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/10/2012 08:34

Been offline for a couple of days and there are pages to catch up on! Hi blonder hope you're enjoying the fluff chat!

BFG and VQ re the onelife wraps, does wicking mean leaking?? I haven't had a problem with that at all, really like the wraps ive got. There are three popper settings at the leg and waist so I actually get a better fit with the onelife ones than with the airflow. Wish they had a cow or tiger print though!

VQ I love the names! I vote for benedict or Grayson, both have a lovely sound, would you abbreviate to ben / gray or use the full name? Love Raphael / rafa too for baby pidjin >

I am happy to report that DD only woke once last night!!! It's a miracle!!! Went to bed late, 9ish, big feed and cuddle 1.30-2.30 then slept til 7. Wow. We are still using sposies at night, reluctant to switch as terrified of anything that might wake her up, but might give it a go once I run out of beaming baby sposies. Sounds like the consensus is LL bamboo at night? Boosters too? How many??

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/10/2012 08:36

Ps fudge my DH does exactly the same with the Velcro ones it is never folded back properly grrrrr! I won't phase him out just yet though Grin

LeBFG · 19/10/2012 09:37

Biscuit - when my nappy wicks, the pee seeps on the seam of the wrap between the legs. It's where the wet nappy is touching the wrap and the dry wrap sucks up the pee. I think of a leak when there's been a lot of wicking or when a nappy is so sodden (or poorly fitting) it starts dripping and basically no wrap can stop that from coming out.

My LL wraps wick quite a lot so a well-fitting, reliable nappy that has only been on a short while starts forming wet patches really quickly. Sucks.

I prefer poppers too now. I have long hair and always found stray strands and fluff would accumulate in the velcro even when properly done up for the wash. I love the motherease where you can adjust waist and legs separately. Can you do that with the one lifes?

ValiumQueen · 19/10/2012 09:50

Wicking is where the moisture kinda seeps through, like on the LL labels, or is it TB? Not a proper leak as such. It can happen with fleece wraps if baby is sat down for a while, except that is compression wicking.

I am leaning towards Grayson, or Gray for NN. Thank you for your input.

LL or tots bots bamboo at night. They come with one booster, attached in LL on size 2, detachable on TB. I use 1 additional LL bamboo booster and it lasts a very heavy 2.5 yo 12 hours. Fleece liner helps, but they can be wet right up to waist band and Velcro.

I use 1 a night, but on a smaller baby you may want to change if wakes up. Mine does not poo overnight unless unwell. They take up to 3 days to dry. You can put them in drier obviously. I have 10 and always seem to have 4 in the drawer, about 4 on the airer, then 2 in the wash. I wash alternate days. I also have 10 ready for baby. You may not need 10. Depends how often you are willing to wash, and how you plan to dry them. Like them (LL) on FB page and keep an eye on offers. I got 10 for £30 about three months ago. I rate their boosters, but not their wraps. I have 10 boosters. They dry quicker. They are good for boosting pockets or easyfits.

ValiumQueen · 19/10/2012 09:56

I am a bit OCD over washing. I check each wrap and nappy is secured, and all pockets on clothes are checked. All clothes have to be right side out, socks and sleeves unravelled etc.

LeBFG · 19/10/2012 10:05

I wish I were like you VQ. I can't count the number of DH's jumpers I've shrunk then worn myself and whites that are now pinks/greys because I mix the colours.

blonderthanred · 19/10/2012 10:10

Hello Biscuit, I am enjoying it. Just getting started as currently my LLs are sitting pristine in their basket waiting for the baby to be born!

Got a parcel in the post this morning of a wet bag and nappy from Baba+Boo I had seen on special offer. They didn't have the cow print I wanted so sent Dalmatian instead and also a free gift of some pretty fleece liners and a key chain to apologise for the change.

Don't know if anyone has used B+B or if they're any good but I liked the wet bag and to get the nappy as well wasn't much more. It's a pocket nappy with 2 mf liners, just for daytime I would think (also too pretty for nights!)

ValiumQueen · 19/10/2012 10:32

Dalmatian sounds lovely. I have been looking for a Dalmatian nappy. Off to google.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 19/10/2012 10:40

Ooo liking the sound of baba & boo will investigate.
Thanks for explanatik re wicking, have had none with bumbleb+ onelife wrap, and yes they adjust at waist & legs.

Oops late for train better run! Been at parents in Sussex, home to London today...

ValiumQueen · 19/10/2012 10:49

I miss Sussex. Born in Portsmouth, spent a lot of time living and working in Sussex, both East and West. Miss London too. Lived and worked in Brixton. Miss tha plantains. Yummy! Don't miss the riots or traffic or violence though.

Had a look at those nappies. At the price I saw them £9.99, they are expensive end for what they are. How did you see the special offer?

blonderthanred · 19/10/2012 11:07

It was www.naturalnursery.co.uk, I can't see the offer any more in their Sale section. £12 for both I think. A bit of fun anyway.

Now I'm going to wait for the baby to come and test 'em out before spending any more!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 19/10/2012 11:11

I do that with washing too. It all gets separated unlike dh whi just chucks it all in then ive got to bleach the whites etc.

I like the sound of baba&boo too.

Just spent an age putting the kids washing away. How can people so small make big people mess?!

ValiumQueen · 19/10/2012 11:15

£12 is a good deal.

fudge74 · 19/10/2012 21:51

cheers notgrownup I won't put my own ebay links on, i only put that one on as it looked like a good deal - not my listing tho!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 19/10/2012 22:24

You not gonna put them up then Wink

I saw a big bundle before and was really tempted but ive only £7 in the bank. What have you got up? I need to get some of my bits up asap and make some cash.

Has anyone whose child is of sturdy nature become too big for the nighttime nappies just had it on unfastened under the wrap??

fudge74 · 20/10/2012 10:58

i've put lots of fluff of various types - we were getting confused with the variety so are moving to only stuffables. There are some LL, Nature Babies, fleece wraps, lollipops, etc. Would i be breaking any rules if i put my ebay name on here?? [innocent to the ways around these things!]
notgrownup how about taping it on with masking tape a la three men and a baby [joking]!! As the prefolds are only held by the wrap then it may work. What about extending the fastenings with a bit of extra velcro?
