I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Morning Fudge. I was thinking more masking tape?? Grin

Im not sure, there was a thread a few years ago about mn'ers selling on ebay and i think they put their items up, dunno what it'd be like now.

Its time to change bottoms, milk, bath new boy and get them both to sleep.

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 11:12

Fudge you could pm links. I cannot see how that is a problem, if the person requests, not to everyone obviously Wink there was a poster recently who was pushing a particular seller, and had other names, but slipped up one day and was reported. That was cheeky as it was deliberately misleading. There is a selling bit, but is so very quiet.

I got my little package from the nappy lady today, with my £3 one life wraps. They look very nice, very lightweight, well positioned poppas, good size range fitting, elasticated at the front too. No gussets at the legs, but that does not bother me. I think they get over bulky with gussets sometimes. The two small wraps look pretty old, but a 25p each, I cannot complain. Boy will not be in them for long. They are only for nights.

DD dared to poo in her tiger nappy within minutes of putting it on. The cheek of it! This is my third Alva nappy and apart from the hole at the back being a bit smaller than usual, I am very happy with them.

I was chatting to a pal yesterday on Facebook and she is pg again. She is very interested in hearing about washables. Quite excited at having someone to convert Grin

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 11:15

notgrownup I would think the wrap would hold it on ok, but my concern would be possible rubbing of skin, and if he were to get the wrap off or partly off it could get messy without another thing to open. As he is bigger, perhaps he could do with more absorbency with a larger nappy?

Could you pin each side independently, or would that take too long for a wriggler? Nappy nippa?

Zulilly are doing bambinex at 60% off, and there's another 20% off with Mumsnet20 iirc...

Notgrownupinmyhead · 20/10/2012 14:20

Hes only in them for night so will have to get through jammys and a bag. I do have nippas though and could fold the tabs over. Ill try both.

I remember that thread, was it about ebaycheapies???

Notgrownupinmyhead · 20/10/2012 14:21

Ooooh pp ill av a shufty later...

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 14:39

PP never been to that website, but have signed up now. Did not buy anything but the little fluffy blue nappies are divine!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 20/10/2012 16:52

I was given one (friend who doesn't like applix, hurrah!) and it's properly fluffy!

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 17:14

Jealous!

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 18:36

Need to buy vinegar as have stinky nappies for the first time ever Sad. Two mega stinky, but roll-off, poos. Rinsed as usual by hand, then two pre wash machine rinses, but whole lot came out stinky. Two worst culprits are the shat on nappies, unsurprisingly, and they are both Alva nappies. Probably just coincidence. They are going through the wash again. I will sniff the rest tomorrow and may re-wash before use. Grr!

NumptyDumty · 20/10/2012 21:22

Wow you guys give someone a lot to catch up on!

Good luck with everything VQ also think Grayson is a beautiful name!

Good news, my nappies don't stink anymore, I striped them as you gurus advised Smile thank you.

My OH has gone out with the boys for the first time since I got pregnant (DS is 4 months old) I'm really enjoying having my boy fast asleep on my tummy while watching xfactor, fully expecting a very drunken partner later he really irritates me when he is hammered and I am sobar he deserves it, it's been over a year haha!

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 21:34

numpty thank you. 5 more sleeps and I will also have a boy to sleep on my tummy. Unless the scan was wrong. I would be just as happy with three girls Grin

NumptyDumty · 20/10/2012 21:51

Awwww how lovely that you already have two girls!
I was under the impression they get the gender scans wrong with girls because they sometimes can't see, but if you see a winky there's no un-seeing it is there? haha sorry didn't know how else to put it!

I hope it all goes to plan and your recovery is super speedy, eeeeek 5 more sleeps, that's nothing!

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 21:58

Apparently the girl bits can be really swollen and look like boy bits. I think it is a boy though. He will have pink nappies and gro bags anyway!

NumptyDumty · 20/10/2012 22:49

Ooooo I didn't know that!

I wouldn't buy new just because the colour is pink, save the pennies!

I bet the girls are really excited for a younger brother aren't they?

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 08:01

DD1 is 6 and prayed to God for a little brother or sister a few days after I peed on a stick, so she takes full responsibility Grin. Quite funny really as this one was not planned. Hoped for, but not planned as we thought our baby making days were over as I am very very old.

DD2 is 2 1/2 and I thought she had no concept about baby, but this morning came into bed and gave bump a kiss and stroke, saying hello baby bruvva Smile

DH is terrified of having a boy due to the responsibility of being a role model. Makes you wonder about what responsibility he feels for the girls, but I guess it is a bloke thing, and his dad did piss off as soon as him mum got pg ( both young) 41 years ago, which was quite a big deal back then.

I will not put boy in the flowery tots bots easyfits. Pink is ok, but not flower power. I have been buying unisex nappies since gender scan, and am awaiting a camouflage which DD will love I am sure.

LeBFG · 21/10/2012 08:37

Lovely story VQ. They come when they're ready. Funny what you say about dads reacting differently with boys and girls. I guess when DS arrives, you DH will find it just as easy as with the girls. Will be very interesting to make comparisons though! I'm fascinated by child development and even very early differences between girls and boys.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 21/10/2012 09:22

VQ you are not old. DH is 45 mind you he wasnt the one carrying it. You dont act like an ol duffer Wink

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 09:24
  1. I think I am doing pretty well really. Grin
LeBFG · 21/10/2012 09:30

My friend had her first at 42 and is still tranquilly waiting to fall pregnant at 45. She's quite an inspiration. She says society convinces women that 40+ is too old etc and the truth is women carried babies well into their 40s and still do in the third world, into their 50s even. She says it's all in the mind of the mother.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 09:43

There are a few extra risks past 40, largely placenta related. My great grandmother had her youngest at 48, some 90 plus years ago. Society does tend to look down on older mums as being selfish, career driven etc. I was told at 26 I would never concieve naturally. Did not meet DH until mid 30s and we were prepared to seek adoption or foster. Three miracles later...........

So, fellow fluff lovers, are we all baby wearing, co-sleeping, lentil weaving, breast- feeding, home educating SAHMs who wear moon cups or washable pads?

Wore a baby once and made me look fatter.

Never Co-slept, indeed throw the little rascals into their own rooms within weeks (with movement monitor)

Never weaved a lentil. Love my meat, can knit but not crochet.

Big advocate for BF. too lazy and cheapskate for formula. Wish there was more support for new mums.

Love school as free childcare. Home educating would be my idea of hell.

Work full time but want to cut hours when I go back, largely as cannot afford childcare for full time. Should have married a rich man.

Moon cups and washable pads? Eugh! Never!

LeBFG · 21/10/2012 10:24

Such a wonderful story of hope. I'm so pleased that you have your three miracles VQ.

I'm most of those things on your list (what IS a lentil-weaver??). Don't do HE, mooncups or washable pads though Wink .

Am SAHM but would love a little pt job for pocket money. DH is quite well off but not rich. I should have married a rich man - my mum always said so Wink.

Grow my own meat too. Though was once veggie for a long time through teens and early twenties.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 10:27

Bf, yes - antibodies, free, no faffing with sterilising
Sling, yes - i live in a flat over shops, cba to drag the buggy up and down every time i need a pint of milk.
Crochet yes, knitting no (mostly mn woolly hugs)
Lentils are vile but have their place in a healthy diet (dp is training to run London to Brighton next year)
Co-sleeping - fuck off, i need my space!
Home ed - kids need to learn to cope with the law of the playground, so no (mitigating circumstances excepted)
Moon cups and washable pads - bleurgh!

I automatically rebel against anyone who tries to dictate an entire philosophy based on elements of personal choice. It's a bit of a bugger because my local nappy library is run by the AP group, who are all a bit tie dye (and dogmatic) for my taste. Luckily the sling meet is full of "people like us", as is my local cloth bum fb group :o

We can refer to this list again in 6 months time and see how many I've stuck to Hmm

LeBFG · 21/10/2012 10:39

Interesting we don't all fall into the hippy mould fluff users are often placed in. Glad to know we are diverse!

blonderthanred · 21/10/2012 10:44

Planning on bf and using a sling (but not calling it baby-wearing).

Not co-sleeping, can't knit (lentils or otherwise), never used a mooncup. Will be back at work in 6 months or so. No plans to home educate except reading bedtime stories and discussing politics.
