Hes soooooo gorgeous and hes all mine! I'm on such a high right now, don't know how long it'll last though.

I didn't have to be induced, I didn't even have to wait till my due date a healthy baby and no stitches! I'm ecstatic! The relief of it all being over is wonderful. Now I'm going to concentrate on remembering every last detail of his face before this stage passes away too.

Come on Cha and Ailsa!

Considering DH is supposed to be some kind of computer expert, we seem to spend rather a lot of time unable to get online or the computer not working ! It sounds as if most of these babies are sleeping well. Joseph feeds about 5.30ish, and then 12am & 4am. Which is all fine at the moment, but I have just realised the clocks go back this weekend, which is a bit of a pain.

At least it's half term though next week - no school run or homework - I need a break ! It's been a bit of a hectic half term, new baby & DD's first term at school. After seeing her teacher at parent's evening we suspect she may have dyspraxia, so all my attention seems to be on her and poor Joseph doesn't seem to get a look in, bless him !

Hope you're all well and not as snuffly as the babies.

ANGELMOTHER · 24/10/2003 18:16

Adell agree about the no school next week. I'm tired of running out the door in the mornings with my pj's still on underneath a massive jumper
Sorry to hear re dyspraxia, don't know much about it, at least you should have more time for both next week

adell · 24/10/2003 18:36

Thanks Angelmother, I may be wrong about the dyspraxia, but waiting to hear back from my HV, who is one of those rare excellent ones. Amazing what a large coat or baggy jumper can hide, I'm going to make a big effort to get my haircut next week so I look less like the wild witch of the west first thing !

Thank goodness it's Saturday tomorrow, DH can deal with them for a bit whilst I read the papers to find on what's been going on in the real world, whatever that is!

Blimey, How time flies! James was a month old yesterday and it's been 11 days since I've posted anything on here.......SHOCKING!

I think my 3rd little man has had a growth spurt as when he was weighed last week he was 9lb 3oz (which was 1lb extra since birth) but this week when he was a whopping 10lb 9oz. We're getting proper smiles now, absolutley not wind but real smiles. We've had a few before now and I'm pretty sure we had a few very early on but now there is no mistaking them and it's only me that gets them

Days and nights still a little but muddled so have to wake him during the day for a feed yet during the night he wants milk every 3 hours. Apart from that things are good although I wish school didn't have half term yet as DS1+2 drive me made with soooooooo much noise during the day, I'd rather have the mad mornings for a little longer and relative quiet for most of the day.

Oh well, better go it's wake up time again. Hopefully won't leave it another 11 days before I'm here again.

Bekki · 25/10/2003 19:43

Good to hear from you again Emma I thought that ds3 had finally taken up that last spare minute of your time and that you couldn't post.
Pph- I just read your thread and I had the same thing with ds1. I didn't do anything about it and the tear became wider until finally I had surgery when ds1 was 10 months to remove the labia. You did the right thing to get it checked out, but if it recurs then don't ignore it like I did.
Ds1 is itching his spots like crazy but thankfully baby seems to be clear of it for now.
Alex seems to have had a big growth spurt and is now in his 0-3 month clothes, about time really being 7 weeks old. Its still quite sad to be folding away his newborn clothes I wish I hadn't brought so many in the first place. Oh well they'll do for the next one. Does anyone else want another baby or am I the only crazy one?

How's all the babes doing then everybody??
Dd2's cold seems to be mostly gone now as is the last of our visitors. Seeing as most of our family are in Ireland, they've all been coming to stay in turns to see the baby. Great to see everyone but it's nice to have my spare room back to being a linen cupboard again
I actually got out on Saturday night. Dh insisted I needed to go out more than he, so I left him with the two girls and my full store of ebm and headed to the night lights of Putney.
We're also getting real smiles now and I fear they may cause an accident. I have to put dd2's car seat in the front of my car (no airbag) as the belt isn't long enough in the back and she stares at me all the time I'm driving and when I talk to her she gurgels (sp) back.....
AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww I want to eat her up

Beccarollo · 29/10/2003 16:51

They are so gorgeous arent they - I know what you mean about accident causing smiles - you feel so bad for ignoring them when they are in their seats gurgling and grinning.

We all have colds - Harvey got it first, passed it on to big sister in time for her 4th birthday then last night I woke in the night with the sorest throat ever and a sore chest and head ache SIGH I have had a child free afternoon with a couple of relations whisking one kid away each and Ive spent it doing house work cos it SO needed to be done!!! I just wanted to curl up and sleep but pleased its done now.

I joined weightwatchers last week - lost 4lbs first week so hoping for 3 this week to make a half stone - they have a program for breastfeeding mothers so I get to eat quite a bit! Which is nice

Harvey is still thriving - 13lb5oz at his 7 week weigh in - I am finding feeding a bit of a mare as he doesnt seem as content but hoping its a growth spurt.

How is everyone else doing?

wiltshire · 29/10/2003 17:41

Hi to everyone, sorry I haven't been back but ...... no time. Max feeding all the time. I don't know how you all do it with other children as well. Glad to hear that everyone well. Pupuce yes I did read 'here' sorry bout that too. As we speak Max puking up all over himself. This must be the fastest typing ever. Am just trying to catch up with this thread at the moment. gotta go again, feeding or burping time. God knows what. This motherhood malarkey is not v. nice.

adell · 29/10/2003 18:14

I had forgotten how gorgeous baby smiles are - especially at 4am when I'm doing my best to keep it all low key ! Does anyone else's baby get their arms stuck between the cot bars ?

We're all downing echinacea here in the hope of keeping colds at bay.

Beccarollo, congrats on the 4lbs loss. I've been at a friend's house today who has lost 52lbs since February & looks amazing. She's going train as a WW leader so, so I'm planning to start then.

princesspeahead · 29/10/2003 19:16

hi everyone! things are great here, ear infection and snotty nose finally gone so he is much happier. lots of smiles too, and a bit of cooing going on which is very sweet. beccarollo, I can't believe how big harvey is! miles is 12lbs exactly and 7 weeks old. you must be feeding him exceptionally well, well done you!
no problems with arms out of the cot because he has been swaddled up until now, but tonight is the first night out of the swaddle so lets see how it goes - bit nervous that he is going to wake himself up 10 times. wish me luck!

Beccarollo · 30/10/2003 09:51

He is big isnt he!! Hes reaching the limit on alot of his 0-3 stuff now!! I cant believe ill be putting a 2 month old in 3-6 months!!

Not sure if its the cold or harvey being a porker but I seem to have lost the plot a bit with the feeding and sleeping!!

He is being sick a fair bit which he has never done before and I think im feeding him sometimes when he doesnt need it. Do you have any sort of structure to your feeds ?
I cant help but think that if he was on a bottle he would go longer but thats not the way to think is it!?

Anyone else with any advice please fire away!!

adell · 30/10/2003 10:46

If it's any help, Joseph is bottle fed and I feel the same today, so you'd probably be finding the same if he was bottlefed and he wouldn't have the benefits he's having. I still feel a bit sad that I only managed 3 days of b/f.

I've had to resort to looking at my GF book again in a vague attempt to get back on track today (I don't know why I look at it, I can't get it to work, just makes me feel better when I see a whole load of times written down !!).

Beccarollo · 30/10/2003 10:52

I'm the same with the times but dont want to attempt fully Gina Fordness as I couldnt bare to be housebound while the routines were developed.

He does seem to be being sick a lot more that usual - do you think this could be side effect of cold/greed/or something else - he was hardly ever sick until about 5 days ago!
Thanks for the encouragment to keep going with breastfeeding - its funny but for some reason I always see giving him a bottle as the answer to my problems which I know it isnt!!

He's a good lad bless him, good as gold just wish I could get a handle on the sleep again!

princesspeahead · 30/10/2003 11:39

hi beccarollo. miles was sick a bit more when he had a cold - brought up mucus in it as well, I just think that the mucus irritates their stomach or something.
I don't structure the feeds in the day because he just eats all the time! He honestly feeds about every 2.5 hours in the day, it is quite rare for him to go three hours. And he is fully bottlefed. I think as soon as harvey feels better he'll get back on track with his sleeping, don't worry...

adell · 30/10/2003 11:41

OK, that's a bit better. He's just had a much better feed at a GF time. I don't think I'd ever get him to do full GF as he's quite a sleepy lad and would never manage on however much sleep he's supposed to get on her routines and I need to get out for DD & my sanity.

With the sickness, I guess it could well be the effect of the cold, if he's very mucousy I'm sure it could be making him sick. What about posting on the feeding section to see if people think it could be due to the amount he's feeding ?

One of my books (could start a library!) says that there will be sleep disturbances as they go through a developmental spurt, which are accompanied by specific changes in behaviour. It says there's one around 6 weeks which is central nervous system development & shifts in brain activity & that unexplained crying may be related to that. Combine it with a growth spurt and a cold and I guess that means unsettled babies and I really should have read that yesterday before I just stuck a bottle in his mouth when he cried, oh dear!!!.

melsy · 30/10/2003 12:05

Hi Beccarollo, seems as if our baby's are going throught the same stuff. My DD also 6weeks has had cold for 10 days , v mucusy (over use of saline drops too)and was being sick alot due to cold. It seems to have calmed a lot in last 24 hrs , so it will pass. She also seems unsettled and wont go down for nice long naps , so this 6 wk bit is difficult.
Hows the EASY plan working?? I think I may have left a message on our Tracey hogg thread.I emailed her on her website today.

melsy · 30/10/2003 12:08

I think it has been said that Formula baby's GENERALLY settle better than breast , but it really depends on what baby is like. Have u done the know your baby quiz??

wiltshire · 30/10/2003 18:07

Aaah, DH came home early today. So I have finally been able to catch up with what all of the Sept babies are up to. They all seem well which is fantastic. And everyones babe seems to have/had a cold which is the same here. Max has had a cold for about 3 weeks now. Bit of snuffle babe on his babygro at night sorts him out a bit. I have loads of questions on feeding but you all seem to be b/f and I am bottle/f so I will have to read other threads for this.

I want to ask one thing though about swaddling. I find it keeps babe extra warm at night when feeding but am loathe to put him to bed like it as I had read/heard from someone that it was dangerous. This means that I am taking him out of swaddle and rousing him to put him down, then spend extra 10 mins trying to get him to sleep.

Angel, you lucky thing getting a night out. Could do with one of those.

I am also guilty of sticking a bottle in Maxs god at every opportunity. Dh pointed out to me the other that he didn't want a feed, he wanted changing and what was wrong with my sense of smell as it stank. Suffice to say I have a cold too!!!

wiltshire · 30/10/2003 18:12

Oh and as for Gina Fords routine - I bought the book, defended her vehemently, insisted in 'grown up' chat with DH that we should start it after couple of weeks. Have now had said book sitting on bedside table since Max birth. Don't seem to get time to read the bloody thing! All seemed like such a good idea pre-childbirth

ANGELMOTHER · 30/10/2003 18:17

Glad to hear you're well Wilty, How's the scar healing ??
Air any questions you have on feeding, dd1 was formula fed and I'm sure there are others here doing that.
I'm just amazed I've managed to b/feed this long, wow doesn't time fly, nearly 5 weeks.

Beccarollo · 30/10/2003 18:39

Im pretty amazed at my breastfeeding too - I bottlefed my daughter as I really struggled and aimed to reach a month for harvey, im now at 7 weeks and no plans to give up just yet - going to keep going til weaning time if possible but fire away with any bottlefeeding questions!

Beccarollo · 30/10/2003 19:23

Melsey - I havent started easy yet, I have just done the know your baby quiz and he came out at Angel/Textbook (lucky me!) what about you? What kind of baby does Tracey reckon you have

What did you say in your email to her?

Was just wondering, do any of the september mummies have msn messenger? I use it lots and it would be nice to have someone around that had babes of the same age?

EmmaTMG · 30/10/2003 19:26

Yep, I'm bottle feeding James too, and did so with Ds1+2 aswell so I could be an expert on it....sadly I'm not but will gladly help if I can.
AngelM......I know what you mean about time flying and I'm already feeling sad at not having this stage again, ok the tiredness is hard but they are just so lovely when they're tiny.
Awwwwwwwww, he is soooooooooooooooooooo lovely.

EmmaTMG · 30/10/2003 19:28

I've got msn messenger but hanent a clue how to use the bloody thing!

EmmaTMG · 30/10/2003 19:28
