Hes soooooo gorgeous and hes all mine! I'm on such a high right now, don't know how long it'll last though.

I didn't have to be induced, I didn't even have to wait till my due date a healthy baby and no stitches! I'm ecstatic! The relief of it all being over is wonderful. Now I'm going to concentrate on remembering every last detail of his face before this stage passes away too.

Come on Cha and Ailsa!

What dates were your cutie Sept. babes born? I have to handsome Sept. boys, youngest just turned 3 6th Sept, and oldest turned 5 10th Sept. Enjoy they are so precious!

Bekki · 11/09/2003 21:28

Hi Beccaroll, congratulations! I had Alexander James on the 4th at 10am. It was wonderful and I've only just started to come down from the whole experience (I am starting to get a bit weepy today). He was 7lbs 4oz but hes lost alot of weight. Feeding is going brilliantly so hopefully by Sunday we should have some increase in his weight. Alex is teething already and I have a lovely bite mark on my nipple. Ouch!

I'm sorry to hear that your experience wasn't how you hoped but the end result is the same, so enjoy this newborn stage while it lasts. Hows your daughter coping with Harveys arrivial? My ds is having an emotional crisis which will pass in time, hopefully.

Anyone else joining us on this thread?

He was born at 1.58 on the 7th. They are so so gorgeous arent they at this stage, Im like you - exhilarated with him but also starting to get bit weepy - not helped by big family crisis that has kicked off last couple of days (grrr)

Feeding is going well after first few days of sore nipples and doubting myself!

Harvey hasnt been weighed since birth yet so I dont know how much he has lost.

My daughter is coping well I THINK!! She has shown the odd signs of punishing me but overall has accepted him better than I could have hoped - fingers crossed!!!

Ooooooh ! I want to be on this thread too

Bekki · 14/09/2003 15:25

Errgghh! This midwife has just taken off my sons cord stump. I was very nearly sick. I told her it was starting to smell so she pulled it off and she looked at me like I was mad for not doing it days ago! On the up side though he has been weighed and has now regained his birth weight!

My mum has taken ds1 to Skeggy for the day and my dh has gone out with his friends so I've been abondoned. Nevermind at least its some peace and quiet for one day.

Beccaroll, I would ignore family problems for now and just enjoy your kids. I could have started at least 4 arguements with my family over the last week (concerning who hasn't sent a card or even congratulations) but I've chosen not to get involved in family politics when I've got a newborn and 3 year old to worry about.

Not long now Angelmother!

Pleased to hear the feeding is going well Bekki - I read your thread in feeding.

Harvey was weighed for the first time yesterday and has put on 7oz!!!! He is now 8lb 15oz needless to say Im thrilled and really reassured that breastfeeding is going well - I want to start expressing but not sure when in the day to do it? Any thoughts?

Well Alex is very sleepy during the day between 11 and 4 so I usually have lots of spare time and milk then, so its a relief to express it to get rid of the engorgment.

Hes done well to put on 7 oz! You're obviously doing something right. Our feeding is going well apart from having extremely itchy breasts when I'm engorged and when hes feeding. I'm not sure if thats normal or not but I'm not in any pain, so I'll try and ignore it for now.

I wasn't expecting such a tiny baby and I can't wait for him to grow so I can put him in all the cute outfits I've brought for him (all 0-3 months).

hello everyone can I join in? Miles now 6 days old, doing really well, settled nicely. He is feeding well (hasn't been weighed but I'm sure hasn't regained his birth weight yet - still looking a bit skinny around the top of his thighs!) and now sleeping very well as well. Has put himself on a 3 to 4.5 hour feeding schedule which suits me fine. Nipples a bit sore but not terrible, looking forward to the day that it doesn't hurt at all. Can't possibly think about expressing yet, want to really sort out the feeding and nipples before I let a breast pump near me!
And he is beautiful, needless to say...!!

Bekki · 14/09/2003 22:32

Congratulations pph. I've got a skinny baby too, never would have dreamt it after having a very chubby ds1.

Could everyone do me a favour please and just give me a brief rundown on what a typical day and night is like with their babies at the moment!?

Im starting to get worried im making a rod for my own back as harvey often feeds very frequently and often falls asleep at the breast, i have also started offering a dummy sometimes - the last couple of days he has been more unsettled and not sure if its because he is looking for these comforters all the time or that my milk is not satisfying him!

Anyway, any reassurance would be appreciated!

Ive also posted this on the august babies thread as I know that one is quite busy and I might get some more feedback!

Thanks

Aaah, Aaaah & loads more Aaaahs, AM & Oaky it will soon be us.

wiltshire · 16/09/2003 07:38

And talking of rundowns on typical day & night. Can anyone run me through bringing the baby from the hospital into my house. What to do, tips etc.

Oakmaiden · 16/09/2003 09:26

Wiltshire - not too soon i hope :0 - not for me, anyway. I want a couple more weeks of peace and quiet first!

Bekki · 18/09/2003 23:41

Beccaroll- my once sleepy perfect baby has turned into a feeding monster who won't settle. Hes only been like this for one day and I want my other baby back! I think its down to his cold. Yesterday he woke camly every 3 hours for a 10 min feed and went happily back to sleep. Today he wakes every 15 mins for a 5 min feed and winges until he falls asleep. I think it changes all the time its nothing to worry about although you have probably had enough of the feeding by now. I use a dummy with Alex when hes too sleepy to drink, theres no point in having sore nipples when a dummy is just as good. If hes putting on weight then I think its fine.

One thing that is worrying me is Alexs cold. I have read somewhere that babies under 3 months can't catch colds because they still have the mothers immunity to them. Well my baby has got a cold and today he fed almost continously and then proceeded to throw up what looked liked about 6oz of breastmilk, all over my duvet. I was terrified as I was trying to clear his mouth and nose to help him breathe. I don't know whats wrong exactly and I wish my health visitor wasn't on holiday. The moment she gets back Alex will have been magically cured I imagine.

Pph- hope everythings alright. xxx

Looking forward to your announcements soon Wiltshire and Oaky! Although I thought that you weren't due for a while yet, am I wrong?

How are we getting on today folks?

PPH - I have been reading your thread on Breast and Bottle feeding and just wanted to give you my support on here! It must be a great relief knowing little Miles is getting full up and happy

I bottlefed my daughter Megan - she is nearly 4 and if I do say so myself absolutely beautiful, amazingly intelligent and is never ill

Im breastfeeding Harvey and so far so good - after the sore nipples and getting used to him feeding SO often things seem to be going ok.

Bekki - how is little Alex's cold? Is your perfect sleeping baby back yet?

Hugs to you all

Bekki · 23/09/2003 21:17

Alexs cold is definatley a cold, what do health visitors know!? But yes my perfect sleeping baby is back and very noticeably alot heavier. Its wonderful to see your baby putting the weight on especially if you've done it all yourself. I would have loved to have been able to have fed my first by myself but sometimes it just dosen't work out.

I know what you mean about sore nipples although I'm getting quite used to the pain now.

Anyone got a miracle baby that is smiling, sitting up and reading yet? Just wondered because apparently an aquaintance has a 3 week old girl that is apparently grinning away and laughing already. A little worrying if you ask me.

My baby may not be smiling yet or even holding his own head, but he smells so gorgeous I can't put him down. Don't you just love that warm baby smell?

Hows the feeding and sleeping routine going Becca? Hopefully alot better than ours. Baby has to fit in around ds1's rountine. Thank god hes a good baby.

hi everyone, thanks for your messages! glad everyone is OK, hope bunnyrabbit's mastitis etc clears up soon, sounds horrible poor thing.
miles is very well except for an eye infection which arrived all of a sudden and made him look like someone had punched him in the face! on drops and it is clearing very quickly thank goodness. sleeping brilliantly (did a 6 hour stretch last night - I feel great this morning!) but is a bit of a puker which is unlike my other two who never possetted or puked anything. I am now beginning to understand everyone elses obsessions with having a muslin cloth to hand at ALL TIMES!
Miles has a very strong neck so holding his head a little, but smiling is still a little way away I'm afraid! He looks very solemn and serious most of the time...hv COMING TO do some sort of hearing test today - new thing, so interested to see what she does!
hope the soreness passes soon bekki!

Beccaroll · 24/09/2003 18:05

Harvey was weighed today - he is now 10lbs!! I cant believe the rate he is putting it on! He was 8lb 7oz at birth, 8 15.5oz at 6 days, 9lb 2oz at 10 days and now 10lbs at 17 days!

I suppose I should stop doubting my milk supply!?

Im finding the constant feeding really draining and even slightly annoying at the moment - Im not enjoying the practical side of BF'ing but love the emotional bit and dont want to stop yet for that reason - do you know what I mean. I really long for the convenience of bottles but would miss the closeness of the breastfeeding.

Ho hum Im never happy am I lol

Beccaroll - in what way do you find bottle feeding more convenient ? Just wondering as I breastfed it's BECAUSE it was far less hassle and always ready at right temp, no sterilising, could go out at last minute without anything,.... just wondering

princesspeahead · 24/09/2003 20:02

beccaroll - what a little porker harvey is! he sounds in fantastic form, I think you can safely stop worrying about your milk. in fact express a bit and send it over to me for miles, will you?!
just for comparison, miles is 16 days old, born at 8.9, went down to 7.5 at 10 days, and is now 8.5! So not quite back to birthweight...

EmmaTMG · 24/09/2003 20:30

New member for the Septmeber babies here.........James Finley was speedily born at 06:46 this morning, just 2hrs 15mins from braxtons like pains and no dilation to delivery. Not sure if this is why I feel like I've been beaten sh*tless or if it after pains.

Very Very VERY tried but not too sore as no stitches needed only a small 'graze'. It's just these after pains that are crippling me
