Hes soooooo gorgeous and hes all mine! I'm on such a high right now, don't know how long it'll last though.

I didn't have to be induced, I didn't even have to wait till my due date a healthy baby and no stitches! I'm ecstatic! The relief of it all being over is wonderful. Now I'm going to concentrate on remembering every last detail of his face before this stage passes away too.

Come on Cha and Ailsa!

BTW I found the boobs started leaking much less after the first couple of months; and I'd recommend Johnson's breast pads (I use shells to collect drip milk as well).

Take a look at our thread - it DOES get better!

Beccaroll · 13/10/2003 16:52

Harvey is on the 91st centile and was 11lb15oz at his 4 week weigh in, Im getting him weighed again tomorrow so we'll see!!

Bekki, had an idea about Alex and bottle - what shape dummy does he use, why not use a narrow bottle and not wide neck as it will be more like a cherry soother in size and shape?

ANGELMOTHER · 13/10/2003 18:55

Ok picture this, the house is a tip, dd2's toys are EVERYWHERE. She's just spilt her dinner on the carpet which I haven't manged to hoover in over a week. Dd2 is having a growth spurt(at least that must be what it is) feeding constantly, dh won't be back till tomorrow, now gone 3 days and have just found out dd1 has just lost my car keys, they could be anywhere in this mess.
Good news though is dd2 was weighed today and has put ona full lb since birth in 2 weeks.

Oh but when will this madness end

Pupuce, since yesterday after I starved him for an hour, he has picked up 3/3.5 hourly. Fingers crossed. As for teats, he is already on the no.2 avent ones for babies over a month. I can't really wander round the house unfortunately as my scar is too sore really to hold him for long. Still weeping as I speak. M/w came today and said ' it will heal, I've seen worse'. Not particularly what I want to hear as I couldn't give a shite about anyone elses at the mo, just mine.

Angel, Bekki & Beccaroll, I am sorry that I moaned now, as you seem to have it about 10,000 times worse than I do. As I am no expert, I can only assume that it will get better and you will both be doing that serene madonna stuff shortly. I certainly hope so.

ANGELMOTHER · 13/10/2003 21:34

Found car keys, lost all sense of reason

mears · 13/10/2003 22:43

Bekki - just remembered a bottle that might help you. My friend's ds wouldn't take anything from a bottle till she got one of these. You can get them in mothercare. The link is here

Bekki · 14/10/2003 08:51

Thanks Mears, is it the tommie tippee ones or the mothernature ones? The link just took me to the Mothercare site.

OP posts:
Beccaroll · 14/10/2003 09:13

I use the tommee tippee nuby and mothernature ones
I think mothernature ones might be worth a go for you because the teats are narrow and he might suck it like his dummy

pupuce · 14/10/2003 09:15

Wiltshire - I am sure you're not starving your son

pupuce · 14/10/2003 09:17

Oh... Wiltshire whilst I have your attention.... have you seen this ?

Beccaroll · 14/10/2003 10:40

Arrrghhh Im bleeding again today - is this the lochia starting again or a period!?!?!?

Not fair! I thought breastfeeding delayed periods - he is only 5 weeks?!

Gem13 · 14/10/2003 10:42

Mine went on for 8 weeks... It's rubbish isn't it?

Not a September parent but just saw your last message.

Beccaroll · 14/10/2003 10:43

So this could be the after birth stuff still and not be my periods back? I hope so!

adell · 14/10/2003 11:45

Hi! I have a September baby could I join your thread please ? Joseph was born 12th September (at 38 weeks) weighing 8lb 4oz by emergency c/section. After a couple of bad days in hospital when he had low blood sugar and jaundice he came home, much to the delight of DD1, who had started the local reception class the week before. He's doing well now and things are fairly calm, with the emphasis on 'fairly'!

Beccaroll · 14/10/2003 12:14

Hiya adell

Welcome to the thread - i remember you from the advice you gave me about my nightmare DD!

Hello Ladies, thought I'd just pop in to see how you all are. James(ds3 still sounds wierd) is doing well, being weighed tomorrow so I'll find out then how well. Apart from his days and nights being a bit muddled up he's just perfect and having 3 DS's is fantastic!
A routine of sorts is starting to develop and we've even been early for school a few times that's how clever I am
I feel blissfully happy and proud to have done it all at home(even though I tried very hard to get to the hospital).....I just wish I had more people to tell but everyone knows the story now.

Sorry if this post is abit of 'blow my own trumpet' as I can see some of you are having a harder time. I hope, and I'm sure it won't last much longer. I've just been very lucky and James has found a nice little slot to fit into in the family and things are just peachy! You can all laugh at me next week when it all goes the other way and I'm begging for advise.

ANGELMOTHER · 14/10/2003 17:38

Welcome Adelle to the madness
I know I've been moaning a lot ladies so sorry for the whineing but Ireally need advice.
Dd2 is thriving no worries there, she's now at 2 wks one pound up on her birth weight, but is feeding incessantly.
This "on demand"feeding is really taking the p**s now. Daytime hours she wants to be fed every hour, Itry the dunny and although it does work it only pacifies her for about 5 mins.
My hv came yesterday and suggested Ifeed her one side then wind and change nappy if she's fallen asleep then feed on the other. This is working but she still wants to be fed again in less than an hour. I do think she's had some indegestion from something I ate???? ans she's also spitting up a lot at least it seems a lot.
At night we get 2-3 hrs so not as bad but daytime is getting very wearing.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ???
Excuse typos as she's hanging from left breast this last 5 mins

mears · 14/10/2003 20:25

Angelmother - try changing nappy, winding and putting her back on the SAME breast. She will get more fatty hindmilk and may well go longer between feeds. Feed from the opposite breast at the next feed. Alternatively, express from that breast and get dh/dp to give EBM later to give you a break.

pupuce · 14/10/2003 20:31

Excellent advice Mears

ANGELMOTHER · 15/10/2003 08:42

Thanks Mears will try your method today as yesterdays didn't work. Not a bad night though, even if I was in bed at 9pm.
How's the bottles going Bekki, I'm going to try a bottle of ebm today fingers crossed.
Hope things are still peachy Emma

Beccaroll · 15/10/2003 09:18

Had a great night last night but Im sure its a one off!

Put harvey down at 8.15pm he settled himself off to sleep - I next heard from him at 4am and after a quick feed he went back off to 7am! Couldnt believe it, its the best night we have had by far so fingers crossed for tonight!

Bekki · 15/10/2003 19:55

Beccaroll I am so jealous! How did you manage that? Do you have him in a bedtime routine? Alex wakes every 2 hours night and day for 10 min feeds. Last night he laid there cooing at me between 3 and 6 am, he has no idea what day and night are at the moment.

OP posts:
Beccaroll · 15/10/2003 20:15

I have NO IDEA how I managed it so Im putting it down to sheer fluke!

I have him in a SORT of bedtime routine in that whenever he feeds at about 7-8 I breastfeed him and when he finishes and is drowsy I swaddle him and put him in his moses basket and upstairs so he is in "bed" rather than just napping near me.

This was the best by far Ive had it, normally I put him down about 7/8 o clock and I hear from him at 10/11 then about 3 then about 6 then up at 8.

He has started going consistently about 3 hours between daytime feeds and longer at night (8 hours last night still cant believe it)

Fingers crossed for me tonight - I have no doubt that he wont do it again though!!

Bekki · 16/10/2003 19:50

How did it go last night Becca?

OP posts:
Beccaroll · 16/10/2003 20:10

Not QUITE as well!!

Put him down at 7.30 - he woke at 11pm for a feed. Went back off - woke at 4 then again at 6.50 and went back til 8

How about you? Your little man giving you much rest yet?
