Do you go in and kiss your children goodnight when you go to bed?

I always go into 3yo DD's bedroom before I go to bed to check on her and to kiss her goodnight.

I can't imagine if they will stop, or when.

I know even as teenagers my parents would come and say goodnight (if we were awake) when they went to bed. And my mum says that even if we were asleep she'd come and kiss our foreheads - right until we left home.

I go in and check on ds before i go to bed and usually tell him i love him but kisses etc are all done at his bedtime.

KateF · 01/09/2005 22:52

Yes, going to do it right now. Night night.

soapbox · 01/09/2005 22:52

Yes always - in fact if I get to bed and realise I haven't i have to get up and go and do it as I worry I'll be junxed if I don't - mad woman that I am

It will stop when they have mates round and nearly drop dead when you go in and kiss them. After that one incident you will have all the dirty laundry and mouldy plates ( that they have been hiding from you) shoved up against the door in a barricade. Then you will think they are on drugs. Sigh. That's what i'm expecting to happen anyhow.

BadHair · 01/09/2005 22:55

Yes. Can't get to sleep if I don't.

elastamum · 01/09/2005 22:55

We both go up and give the boys a kiss and tuck them in every night and probably will continue until we end up going to bed first! Some times DS1 says 'love you too...' in his sleep which makes my day

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 01/09/2005 22:57

i always go in and say "night night angel" and leave again, but then i cant bend into her cot to kiss her because the bump and side bars get in the way!

jampots · 01/09/2005 22:58

i always go in to kiss my children goodnight when they go to bed and again when i go - they are 12 and nearly 9

Nixz · 01/09/2005 22:58

ALWAYS - without fail everynight - i am 28 and if i stay at parents, they still do it!
I think it allows you to look at them in a different light - not all sticky, naughty cheeky and a right royal pain in the a** as they can be at times but small, vunerable and in need of looking after - sorry, been in the vino!

MarsLady · 01/09/2005 22:59

I kiss them goodnight when they go off, but I always pop my head around the door to look at them when I go to bed!

spacecadet · 01/09/2005 22:59

always, even my eldest who is 14.

Angeliz · 01/09/2005 22:59

Yes.
dd2 (6 months still sleeps in a cot next to me and i don't kiss her as i'm scared i'll wake her).
but i always go into dd1's room (she's 4) and kiss her head and say "i love you".

SherlockLGJ · 01/09/2005 22:59

Yes

And I whisper in his ear, Good night my darling, I love you very much.

Once about 6 months ago, he was on the cusp and he grabbed my arm, and said and I love you very much.

Soppy cow that I am, I ran back down here and posted it, then had a little sniffle.

chipmonkey · 01/09/2005 23:01

have to go in anyway and drag them out to the toilet so we don't get wet beds but I kiss them afterwards!

Gobbledigook · 01/09/2005 23:01

Always, can't sleep if I haven't.

Go in to all 3 and tuck them in, give them kisses, cuddles and stroke their hair and tell them nice things. They are so, so perfect and beautiful - always, but especially when sleeping.

fqueenzebra · 01/09/2005 23:01

That's really sweet, those of you who do.
I don't unless I'm worried about one of them.
The 14m old would wake up (nightmare).
I don't always know where the other 2 are sleeping (DH puts them to bed), we have a big house, guess I can't be bothered to go looking...

Nixz · 01/09/2005 23:02

What a soppy bunch we are

Gobbledigook · 01/09/2005 23:02

Oh me too Soapbox - obsessive or what?!

LilacLotus · 01/09/2005 23:02

yep, every night. tuck DD (4) in, give her a kiss and whisper 'i love you' while she's fast asleep.
