You do whatever you think is best for you and your children. I love the south west. Would you have support down here?

hercules · 13/08/2005 19:25

I love devon.

MarsLady · 13/08/2005 19:33

lovely... I'll be able to come visit you there and enjoy the sea.

I thought your wanderlust was taking you up North?

Any connections in Exeter? (My bf was brought up there)

dinny · 13/08/2005 19:36

Go for it, Essbee. The South West is great. We`are hopefully moving back to to Cornwall in next 18 months...

Hey, was in Ikea the other day and thought of you! Maybe we can meet for a coffee/cake some time?

macwoozy · 13/08/2005 19:40

If I could I would love to move back to Devon, my happiest memories are there.

Good move Essbee. I'd have said no to rural because I think some people are horrible to lone parents (I was one down there and the prejudice really pissed me off, I hadn't experienced it before)but I'd say Exeter is bigger and is a university city so much larger with less of that kind of nonsense going on. Hey, good things:

Cheaper houses than surrey
Far away from arse
Attractive city
Clean air
countryside and beaches nearby
prob decent schools (don't know Exeter)

downsides
I found Men a bit thin on the ground in Devon although I did come back with one so it can't have been that bad!
Can be hard to find likeminded people but you will be in larger city so it'll be ok
Long way from London/surrey but people will come to you and Exeter is prob only 3 hours on the motorway which isn't the end of the world

Go for it!

Jimjams · 13/08/2005 20:42

I'm in Plymouth essbee- a 40 minute drive....

Janh · 13/08/2005 20:42

Lack of support?

MarsLady · 13/08/2005 20:44

I'm sure she means family janh. I know she's very grateful to you and knows how lucky she is having you about.

Janh · 14/08/2005 12:33

That's all right then, phew, and of course I would love to come and visit you in Devon, and so will Big Soupy

DH was down there this week with DS1, camping at Dawlish - they had a fab time.

Janh · 14/08/2005 12:34

DS2 that is. I keep doing that.

pinkmamma · 14/08/2005 12:58

Hi Esbee
As you might have seen from other threads I am looking to moving to Devon or Cornwall area. I don't know anybody down that way although my mum's family are all from that area.
I still have house with ex-p but as soon as that sells I am goooooooooone

I have booked a caravan through Haven (scared emoticon!) 3 days in Devon (Exmouth) and 4 days in Cornwall at the beginning of September so that I can begin looking at different areas... I'll let you know how it goes if you are interested.
I'm sure have "chatted" to you before on here but I forget how old your lil'un? My DS just turned 3

oh essbee it sounds like you might beat me to down to Devon at this rate.

We took a look at Ivybridge - near Plymouth, near motorway to Exeter, very near moors and quite near coast. House prices not astronomical either.

Hi tigermoth - Ivybridge is still a great place to be! When are you coming down?
I don't know much about Exeter essbee other than that the traffic flow is abysmal.
liandme we are almost neighbours.

Janh · 14/08/2005 21:02

DH did mention this week that traffic is dreadful and parking impossible. (Just to lighten the tone )
