how much did your wedding cost?

hi all. just being really nosy so you can tell me to mind my own business if you want.
ours was about £2500. i bought my dress brand new off ebay. hubby did same with his kilt suit. we had a lovely buffet in a beautiful hotel for 60ish. we had a great band. we danced all night, despite being 5 months pegnant. the party went on all night and well into the next day.
i wish i could get married to do it all again, great day.

There was only 9 guests though!

about £800 We got married after being together for 14 years so we had a really small wedding immediate family only. The next day we had dd christened and threw the biggest party in our garden, we went to france to get all the booze and luckily dad and bil are chefs so they did all the food. I know im biased but it was the best wedding party I have ever been too. Really informal beautiful food, buckets of champers and the garden looked fantastic. My god we worked hard but it was worth it.

Mine was about £15k, my parents paid for everything. Dh and I were going for a reg office do with just a few friends but my mum wanted to make the day really special.

She always said that her wedding day was ruined by her own parents carping about money. She invited our entire family and possibly all the people I have ever met. We got a lot of towels. A lot of the family have died since so it is nice to have them on the photos, they would not have been invited to any wedding we could afford at the time.

Apart from having ds it was the best day ever, totally magical and just what I had always dreamed. I felt like a fairy princess. We had fireworks and everything. I had no idea what everything cost at the time but I was only 23 and a bit wet behind the ears . It was definately a once in a lifetime event.

mine was about $400 Aussie Dollars 11 years ago, that would be about £150.

about £10k for 2 days of celebrations (includes everything from dress, ring, suits, drink, food, hire etc.) we thought it was good value for money.

and with a vintage car, lovely dress, suit from topman for h, flowers, registrar, venue, champagne in said gardens after and photographer it was about 1200- 1500 oh yes and that included honeymoon to York in a hotel

About £300, 9 years ago, registry office as I'm not religious, dress in the Monsoon sale, a buffet at my Mums and down the pub afterwards. We went on a P&O mini cruise to spain for our honeymoon which cost £50 each.

Had a great time, very little organising so stress free

reeaaally expensive, would rather not say how much as feel a bit rubbish looking at all these excellent lower prices. We really tried to keep the price down too! But we had such a lovely day and everything was the way we wanted it. It was mainly two things that cost a lot - decorating the venue (would prob have been cheaper to go for a nice-looking venue in the first place, but it did look magical) and masses of food for 120 people. Was originally going to be 70 people but dh's parents got bit between teeth... fine with me...

Think it worked out at around £1500

But then perhaps I should also add we got married in Zimbabwe when the exchange rate for the Zim$ was at around 100-1 - and things were cheaper (on comparison) to here anyhow.

QoQ, I realise what you're saying about the exchange rate/cheaper prices but is that really the cost for feeding 500 people or was it a typo for 50?

Think we sent out about 150 invites (including all of DH's BIG family, and my family plus friends). But it's very common (and normal) for the guest to bring "their" family and people will often 'pop in' off the street too

When we were taking the photos there were loads of "cousins and aunts" who 'demanded' photos too - so we've got lots of pictures of people that DH doesn't even know the names of LOL

No it was definitely around 500 people (give or take 50 or so) the cost for the WHOLE wedding was about £1500 (I can't remember the exact figure we 'converted' it too - it may actually have been cheaper than that).

Ours was £13k and we paid for every penny ourselves, saved up for two years. A friend did buy our cake as a wedding present but our parents didn't offer anything towards it.

We had it in a small stately home, string quartet, the works. It was a beautiful day and we have never regretted a penny of the money we spent, though have often mused on what else we could have bought for £13k. People still refer to our wedding and how great it was, how lovely the food was. Lots of people have actually said "that was the best wedding I ever went to, including my own!" - what a lovely memory to have!

We did do some things on a budget- made my own stationary, didn't spend a fortune on my dress. We put the money where it counted - on the venue and food.

I have a friend getting married in 18 months time. Her plans make mine look like small fry. She's buying very expensive champagne (who notices after a few glasses?!) and paying for all the guest bedrooms . I think she's looking at 30k!!!!

Forgot to add, paying for your own wedding has the advantage of you having complete editorial control over every aspect of the wedding, especially the guest list

ours was about £1500 all in. Dress & accessories came to about £170 (including shoes/jewellery etc), flowers £120, Reception £1000 (sit down meal for about 50-60 plus evening 'disco'), cake made by MIL, childrens outfits bought from Adams for altogether £30 ish, mum drove me, didn't have photographer etc etc.

All in it was a value for money day and I loved it - despite my 18mo hanging off me for the entire day - including the ceremony!

mogwai - oh no it doesn't! my pils invited 20 people before they'd even mentioned to us they'd done it. hence sudden expansion of guests from 70 to 90, which rapidly became 120 once we said ok.

In the end they paid for the wine and flowers, which was great, but when they did the inviting it was all our penny!

Just under 2 grand including dress (ghost) suit, terrific venue, buffet and alcohol all evening for 60 borderline alcholics. Given that the bar bill was about half the budget, we think we did quite well all told.
