hi all. just being really nosy so you can tell me to mind my own business if you want.
ours was about £2500. i bought my dress brand new off ebay. hubby did same with his kilt suit. we had a lovely buffet in a beautiful hotel for 60ish. we had a great band. we danced all night, despite being 5 months pegnant. the party went on all night and well into the next day.
i wish i could get married to do it all again, great day.
thanks for your replies.

about £10k and dh and i paid for it ourselves, meant to keep it small but it totally got out of control the most expensive part was the bar bill at the reception as we had an open bar, we discovered loads of people from the other wedding in the place we had ours found out it was a "free" bar and were coming into our reception for drinks!!!

moondog · 24/06/2005 17:21

chicagomum!!!!!

A loutish 'friend' of my sister's was being so rude to the staff at the hotel where my sister married, that they all had a drink on his tab (that he was braying about in a Hooray Henry fashion.)

The chef told me, about 6 bmonths later!

Chandra · 24/06/2005 17:30

around 10,000 The price included everything from the flowers, a seven course meal for 100 people(don't ask me about it as it was not in my culture and can't understand it either... but yummy),to hiring the ship on which the reception took place.

Our wedding was very small and just how we wanted it. My Father had died the year before and i didnt want a big do as he couldnt be there. My best friend took me to register office..best man took hubby. After the service we went back to mil for a garden party. It was lovely. only regret was not having a proper photographer, friend did them but werent much good! He left the list i had given him of what we wanted therefore some were missing!!!

lou33 · 24/06/2005 18:17

about £250 (in 95)

Nightynight · 24/06/2005 19:28

kid · 24/06/2005 19:29

We paid £355 for the ceremony in Dominican Republic, we had to pay to get there and the hotel on top of that of course

f1recr4cker · 25/06/2005 12:20

ours cost just under 20k

poppy101 · 25/06/2005 12:27

Ours about £10k, included church, buffet, live band, dresses made up, disco, booze and marquee in the garden.

stitch · 25/06/2005 12:31

no idea as dad paid for most of it. but i remember i justified the dress to myself as costing less than one months paycheck!
wish i could do it again. had great fun

HappyHuggy · 25/06/2005 12:33

it was about 6k altogether but im includung the dress, honeymoney, food everything. We got married in 2001

NomDePlume · 25/06/2005 13:22

About £8k, no honeymoon, less than 100 guests, no cars. Money was spent on good food !

missycantstop · 25/06/2005 13:27

about 3-4k 26/6/04. that included dress bridesmaid dresses etc x5 and pageboy clothing x3, the church, 3 limo trips, flowers, the party including food and drinks (i had roughly 150 guests) The honeymoon spending money and everything else. i will never forget the day even though my marriage only lasted 8 weeks.

dottee · 25/06/2005 13:31

Can't remember exactly how much but would estimate on this day/date 22 years ago (and at this time!!!), the whole day would have cost £2.5K

Didn't last though.

joash · 25/06/2005 13:32

about £150 (20 years ago)- 50 guests. Daytime and evening parties (buffet at both). Daytime at home in the garden (it looked brilliant). New outfits, flowers, vintage car borrowed from relative, photos, etc.

We'd done the calculations to go the whole hog and it was gonna cost around £20k - even then. Would've cost more than our first house did, so we thought bugger it and did it all ourselves.

dottee · 25/06/2005 13:34

And the weather was a bit like it is today.

If I ever do it again (and dp and I are not exactly in the marrying mood at the moment) I'd like a low key affair (e.g. just us at Gretna) and a good friends/family bash locally.

It was the full white wedding 22 years ago. Was 10 mins late for a 1.00pm wedding.

AuntyQuated · 25/06/2005 13:40

we had our reception here they made a big c0ck up with the accomadation booking and as compo they didn't charge us for the main daytime meals!!

absolutely EVERYTHING came to just under 7K in 1994

Our rings were about £100, My outfit £105, DH suit £90, DS1 suit £50 plus shoes. Wedding it self wasabout £80 now sure on the reception Mum did all the catering herself and Dad paid for in about £500 I guess and Dad put £500 behind the bar FIL put £300 and the pub after the wedding was about £100 again (I got married on Tuesday reception on Saturday 7 years ago)

ruty · 25/06/2005 21:16

About £300. Wore a summer dress, not new, dh wore jeans, got married in a little country village church by my dad and then we all went to the local pub for a late lunch after. A few friends and family, no stress, right for us.

edam · 25/06/2005 21:23

I think we spent about 6 grand but can't remember exactly. I know wedding magazines at the time said the average cost of a wedding was £12k so I felt v virtuous not spending more on the day.

expatinscotland · 25/06/2005 21:31

Rings: £275. Dress: £100. Suit: £200. License fees: £75. Meal for 2 after wedding: £100.

Eloping: priceless.

crunchie · 25/06/2005 21:36

Mine was about £11000. God written down it was HUGE!! We didn't even have a full evening event!! y parents paid for it all and I had the dream day - big white dress, jazz band, fab food (amazing canapes which were better than a full meal - and as expensive!!) tears from my dad, tears from me and dh, dh serenading me infront of everyone, and a brilliant time. 8 years on it was still the best day of my life I'm sorry giving birth was not !!

We got married here We had 185 people, family alone made up nearly 100 of them!!

Linnet · 25/06/2005 22:04

Our actual wedding cost about £600.
That included, the Marriage licence, Marriage Commisioner to marry us, the photographer, the flowers, my hair and makeup and I also got false nails put on.

I already had a dress to wear having been a bridesmaid a couple of years before, dh already had a kilt and dd1 already had a nice dress to wear.

But then we did get married in Canada where we were having a holiday anyway. so if you include our holiday which I suppose you should it came to just under £2000.

A bargain considering that my friend who I'd been bridesmaid for paid £2000 for her wedding dress alone.
